I must admit I found it ironic when they said about rust considering how rust prone the Mk3 proved to be. That said I still miss the M reg 1.3 Equipe I had, though I do prefer my current Focus
Am I the only who find this fiesta much blander than it't predecessor? My mother has had both, and as a child this one was a comfortable one, rather quiet but it always smelled like rotten eggs (K6 cat) and it was a bit floaty, which meant motion sickness for me. The predecessor was more bare bone, but it was much more charming, and even a bit faster.. The last part reminds me of the story when my mother traded down their Escort to the first Fiesta and my father didn't care to come, the salesman tried to convince her to talk it over. That was the last time she visited that Ford-dealer. In those day's there was much more choise of dealerships.. Thx for the upload.
Ford had to make the 1989 Fiesta to meet the needs of 1990s motorists, e.g. : make it safer, so some of the spirit of the mark 1 & 2 models had to be sacrificed.
Thanks to upload this, I have a mk3 fiesta, one of the latest which was made in Spain, and I´m so happy with him. If you have more presentations or something like this about this fiesta model, upload it please!! 😃
It's a miracle the interior door cards are standing up to use long enough for the video to be made. You'd barely sneeze in my '91 Fiesta 5-dr and the clips holding the door cards by the window rubbers would part company with the door....as for Rust...oh dear....
Comedy gold. That was so funny, nothing like pigeon holing people. The remark “unlike you, they really do have, all the time in the world” made me laugh out loud. Of it’s time I suppose
I was wondering if the presenter was ever going to pop up in the video, and as someone in a LHD country, it took me until ten minutes in to realize all these silent actors were driving on the right. Couldn't be bothered to reshoot it for the UK...
English dub of a European film, probably German but couldn’t say for sure! The script was probably translated from the original film and not edited for any UK specific phrases. English version of modern Ford press releases refer to estates as “wagons”.
Bloody Hell, where can I buy one of these gems??? Spare tyre under the car? Genius!!My only criticism is that they've put the steering wheel on the wrong f@#£ing side!!
The last good Ford was the Escort RS Turbo. They had the market to themselves from 63 until the crappy Sierra appeared; I worked at a Ford dealership at the time and when I saw what was replacing the Cortina I knew the end was in sight. My suspicions were confirmed by experience when the fleets started using them, they were cheap and shoddy. I left for Peugeot just in time for the 205 GTI, definitely the right move!
They weren't. These Fiestas were quite crap... as were a lot of Fords of the late '80s. Sierra & Escort were long in the tooth, despite a few updates. Even Granada was beginning to show its age. Many engines were real old-nail ferrous donkeys.
Not really. The Capri had been recently axed from the range at that point. Zetec engines, Focus, Puma, Ka and Mondeo really couldn't come soon enough. In the late '80s, Ford were just relying on clever advertising, rapidly-elevating equipment levels, base-model-based special editions and heavy discounts to sell their products. The Ford line-up already looked a bit spent by then, certainly beside what PSA and Vauxhall were offering.
Poor people who can, unaccountably, afford a brand new car. People who aren't too fussed about cars, so don't want to spend too much on them People with limited parking space People in cities People who aren't confident drivers People who prefer the more agile handling People with environmental concerns All sorts, really.
Doubtful someone would buy it for looks the 205 at 5 years old still looked far better, even the 5 had more of a cute look. When I first sore one parked in 89 I thought it looked a bit bland. No one in these 80s video is BAME
No rust ! The rear wheel arches vanished as soon as the vehicle reached 3 years of age !!
Cars are not made for the UK weather I guess?
True. :D
Ah see, but if there are no arches, they cant rust, can they?
Why am I now addicted to watching 80s early 90s car sales promos. Bastable and Jackie Stewart for Ford vs Carol Vorderman for GM

The undeniably slightly irritated voice of Tony Bastard-Table
Passed my test in a brand new f reg one of these, a big improvement over the mk2 i'd learned in.

My first car was a mk3, Matisse blue 1.0. So rusty after 9 years.
Citroen Axel at the beginning?
Edit. Changed to Citroen Axel.
Well, either an Oltcit or a Citroen Axel. Same car.
The nostalgia is interesting, only watching this actually gave me a headache. 😣
22:40 Also, an Executel phone on the desk! Swank.

We’re they removed before. I had a p difficult time taking mine off

The 24 stage body treatment did not go well! Mine started to show rust at just over 5 years of age
The rustproofing could've been better, but the car was a good one, practical roomy economical comfortable and a genuine good all-rounder.
Stop talking about it in the past!! I want one now!
You say that. but theres loads of them around still.

Maybe when the video was shot only LHD pre-production cars were available (note the Cologne plates, Ford Europe's headquaters)
I wanna own all of these Fords to be in all these Ford Promotions Videos
Is the bloke in the green t shirt tim from the brittas empire
Yep I came here to comments to see if someone else noticed
У меня машина 1993 года, 1.3 OHV, на машине езжу каждый день. Был вариатор когда то, но он сломался, пришлось механическую коробку поставить.
Automatic seatbelt adjustment wasn’t even standard😂
I have a 1993 mk3 fiesta 1.1 I keep it in Spain. No rust at all.
There are still loads around
Interesting references to hood and trunk. Was this written in the States?
Came here for the same thing.

No rust, you are joking right 😂😂
Funny nobody cared about safety back then.
I had one , but xr2

Anti-corrosion. Hmm...
Why didn't they include the non-binary LBGTQ+ buyer ?
I'm outraged.
back then, equality was less of a thing.

I hated the styling of the mk3. Mk2 looked way better.

Yeh those in Central London with houses worth millions but can't fit a big car on there drive. Ask your mom and dad about those.
