+ROGER2095 I don't understand why some stores at the mall play music so loud you feel like someone's hitting you over the top of your head. I guess stores think that "it's what the kids like nowadays." Except I couldn't tolerate it even when I was young. It's one of the reasons I don't go to the mall.
I'm a little skeptical of these kinds of ultrasonic devices. It would be interesting to put a spectrum analyser app on your phone and test what frequencies are being emitted (if any) by the lightbulb and how far away they are detectable.
How do you know what the frequency response of smartphone microphone is? It’s not designed to receive frequencies above 20 kHz is it? This device is probably operating at ~40 kHz.
I know seeing mice falling for the traps is strangely satisfying, but coming to the video and commenting how there are no deaths and killings, I think, misses the point of this channel. It's not about having fun, but actually dealing with the rodent infestation problem the most effectively. Of course, I know that the best way is to kill the mice, yet the reactions are just immature and probably make other people question the purpose of the whole channel. Thus, reports, age restrictions and demonetisation. P.S. Big hugs from Poland, Shawn!!
Seymore Smithh I think it's entertaining too, that's why I come to watch the videos all the time. What I meant was only what I saw in the comments section and which to some people could probably be disconcerting. Cheers, mate.
Well said, this channel attracts some really sick, psychopathic kind of people who find death and torture to be entertaining. You never know there might be some murderers (or future murderers) too here.
I'm more of a fan of the mechanical aspect, but I actually like this video. I was surprised to see signs that it worked... somewhat. It looks like you need a whole bunch of those in a room though for it to be effective, probably more than the amount of light bulb sockets available
I imagine animal (including us) would get use to noise over time. What they need to do is make a sensor and only activate the noise when the rodent get into the target area. This will make a big shock for them which I think would have a better repelling effect. Also louder so they don't have to be in close proximity
I think there is a flaw in this methodology as it does not represent a normal use case. You put bait under the zapp light which acted as an incentive for the rodents to ignore the noise they were hearing. In a regular use case there would be no bait so there would be no incentive for the rodents to stick around therefore they would leave the area because of the unpleasant sounds.
I just got this one. I ALSO put out 2 jars of ammonia with sponges sticking out deep under there they get in; and a few ammonia soaked rags in the corners. Hope this works too. damn things keep eating the corners of my boxes. no food anywhere either.
Seems like it might work better if it was set up with a motion detector that would bring it on when the rodent entered. Mice are a bit more skittish than rats. Rats arent as easy to spook. If they hear something unusual but no other danger signals and nothing bad happens, they will just stay chill. But having something happen suddenly might spook them. Also having this hooked up to an ardrino that could switche several on and off that are positioned in different locations might overwhelm them also. Just the sonic part, not the light. There are other sonic pest repellers that dont have lights built in. Might be neat to check those out too.
i would like to see whether these sound repellers cause rodents to avoid the area or pass through quickly when there is no bait. It could be good to lead them toward an area with traps. A commenter suggested this the last time you used one of these sound devices.
herohunter81 that's what the doctor told me it just resulted in a lot of pain and loss of the nail. Each of three times.I'm done with that that advice.
herohunter81 It's not a blister or bubble. He recieved a bruise at the base of his thumbnail a while ago. It's pretty much a scab in his nail. Eventually, bit by bit, it will be clipped off as his nail grows.
I found strange activity signs in the old gopher holes during the last two days.. u no that double take and head scratching you do if there's a slight change in the ground work. Clearly it isn't gophers with their unmistakable crescent dirt piles. So I put the video on the spot for a half an hour this morning. I just went over the video and its clearly Voles. They're really quick to go from hole to hole.. they have taken up 'squatting rights' to the ole gopher holes... unfortunately I have only cinch traps for gophers... the thumb looks good. I worked as an auto mechanic for over 30 years and I'm nothing but scars from the elbows down so look on the bright side...lol
I suppose it could be great for rodents in the ceiling. I tried using one of those rat repelling sounds you find on youtube, and captured rats would start to freak out as soon as the sound came on. I could also hear the sound, so it kinda works on me but my grandparents can't hear it at all.
Rats communicste danger in the 20 to 25 kHz band. Emitting ultrasonic noise or pre-recorded cries of pain in this frequency range is audible to dogs etc., too. Also continuously emitting is a bad idea. Some proximity sensor (motion detector) would be great. Or even manual control. Fire some rap music at them, pitch shifted to the low ultrasonics, while watching live...
Do any of these kinds of sonic repellers work terribly well? I’ve heard of cat repellers that seem to work but they seem to do so because they react to the cats motion and the sudden light and sound scares them off.
But, those same mice, due to your efforts, are shy of ANY new stimulus you put there. When you place a trap, they reluctantly approach. You can definitely see the directional nature of the ultrasonic sound as well. They react when they wander into it, but is it because it repels them naturally, or do they perceive it as "he's dropping a piano, boogie outta Dodge!!!"? I'd say it rates testing with your "hired staff" as a test on unstressed by the sword of Damocles mice
While you can't hear ultrasonic sounds, it can still affect your body apparently. But it takes a long time. Mice don't live that long, and since they breed quickly I'm guessing they will evolve an immunity very quickly. Either way, these devices belong in a bin.
I have not read the results yet but I BET it does not work... OK what I thought, In audio the frequencies that may scare "some" animals (some of the same species) are VERY high (inaudible to humans whose hearing as teens is 20Hz 20kHz ... A mouse "may" be disturbed by a near source producing 40 kHz BUT, a sound wave of 40kHz can only propagate through a limited distance. In general, low frequency waves travel further than high frequency waves because there is less energy transferred to the medium. So a distance of 10 feet (ceiling to ground) disperses the very high frequency. HOWEVER. In so tropical countries is not rare to have mice walk all over you when you sleep so one of these bulbs on at a night table may be of value.
saw a Chevy ad on tv. unable to locate the dealer with As Seen On TV! logos. sad. seriously, many tests have proven sonic repellers to be useless against any pests--including the neighbor's kids. they all adapt to it and eventually ignore it.
soyou lay on a trance party for them, snacks and disco lighting included, no entrance fee. the only good rat is one with a metal bar over over it's neck.

As seen on TV. = rip off not worth the money. Good vid.
As seen on Fake News
Good products don't use that label, because they don't need to manipulate people into buying their product.
The rat was thinking: 'Good snacks, good tunes, nice party bro!'
the rat came in and asked ''but wheres the wifi?''
TheVexCortex but he didn't record party video.🤔
Rat says 'Easy listening music. Nice beat, easy to dance to', mice say Ugh, not my style, try Cafe down the street.'
Spoiler alert :(
I was in a store last month that started playing loud rap music. I left.
ROGER2095 basically what that light does for mice
+ROGER2095 I don't understand why some stores at the mall play music so loud you feel like someone's hitting you over the top of your head. ROGER2095 what that have to do with the video
Jlan Lewis Maybe if some sounds are intolerable only to a few humans the same thing happens with rodents ?...
It's to make you so uncomfortable, you will just buy something without looking at the price.
No mouse flip today guys
He should have used the bulb.
"Give it a little flip."
Here before the age restriction. :-/
not a bot ) same
Me too
Me too
To old to
Have that issue lol
Wishing it WAS an issue! LMAO!
As seen on TV = No animals were harmed.
It's sad.
I really hope youtube never takes down this channell because i spend all day watching these videos and they are fun to watch
The only way this will really repel mice is if you throw it at them. After two days they would get used to any sound it might make.
All of these ultrasonic rodent repellents are snake oil
The only thing that stops a rat is death
nice cat pic there amigo!
fidel catsro Its the face of death for a rat
Mint, apparently.

Xavieru - For me its entertaining. I don't have any rodent problems but still like watching these vids.
Seymore Smithh I think it's entertaining too, that's why I come to watch the videos all the time. What I meant was only what I saw in the comments section and which to some people could probably be disconcerting. Cheers, mate.

Shawn, think you need to create RUclips Commenter Thursdays
I imagine animal (including us) would get use to noise over time. What they need to do is make a sensor and only activate the noise when the rodent get into the target area. The ultra sonic sound scared my wallet away
Shawn Woods posts a Mousetrap Monday video on a Thursday?!?
*MY BODY IS READY*
You'd go in a shop that was playing terrible muzak if it had something you wanted
Shoulda tried it with multiple bulbs. Just curious to see if putting up more would amplify or not. And be a stronger deterrent
Well done Shawn. You won't have to worry about this one being demonetized.
This is such an effective way to show if these things work.
If only the sun was like this trap!
rodents wouldn't exist if this was the case lol
I think there is a flaw in this methodology as it does not represent a normal use case. You put bait under the zapp light which acted as an incentive for the rodents to ignore the noise they were hearing. No flip 😠
Hi Ask your boys if they can hear it, i had a sonic repeller when mine were young used to drive them mad.
Slightly surprised that it somehow works.
That shrew was shrewd, it got the hell out of there.
What happens if you have an army of those bulbs?
DunsparceAndDiglett your electricity bills will rise
you start attracting bees!!
I just got this one. I ALSO put out 2 jars of ammonia with sponges sticking out deep under there they get in; and a few ammonia soaked rags in the corners. Hope this works too. damn things keep eating the corners of my boxes. no food anywhere either.
Any joy? I've been having the same issue recently and have tried regular traps, bucket traps and poison. They just keep coming back
Seems like it might work better if it was set up with a motion detector that would bring it on when the rodent entered. Mice are a bit more skittish than rats. Rats arent as easy to spook. They like the music while they eat.
i would like to see whether these sound repellers cause rodents to avoid the area or pass through quickly when there is no bait. It could be good to lead them toward an area with traps. A commenter suggested this the last time you used one of these sound devices.
Do a separate test with the bulb on, and compare it to a normal LED bulb of similar brightness
you should set up a vimeo account and upload the kill vidos there
Hook it up a 100 watt sound system
Thanks for the review. Ive always wondered if those worked
Maybe thats the same Rat that you zapped with that crude electric shock trap, you fried his ear drums. ;(
I miss the unlisted links
Bring back the good ol' "Pistol trap"
Mix bait and quick set plaster powder and boom, no more pests.
A good test would be on pet mice to see if they get agitated by the sound in close proximity.
Won't you run out of micetraps to test?
He has a video explaining it. I'm pretty it's in a q and a.
Darkij RUclips will kick him out before that happens , it's unfortunate
Technically yes but functionally no there are literally millions of parents for mouse and rodent and pest traps
He'll make his own lmao
Darkij - no show (or youtube channel) goes on forever. Enjoy it while it last.
“Stay tuned, or else....”
-Shawn Woods
Try a lot of them maybe? Anywhere from 10-20?
Is your ceiling more than 400ft high?
Joey Vindictive Maybe the “400 ft” on the package refers to mouse feet.
I ve just seen an ad. Nice!!!!!
What happens when you plug in all the ultra sonic repellers in a single surge protector
Thanks for busting that myth.
Studies have shown sonic pest repel devices are ineffective and can be harmful human over time. Look it up.
Robert Huffman ating mouse crap and urine might be a little more harmful, or maybe all that wifi going through us is already baking us.
Right, because YOU say something, I’m gonna go on a research campaign !!
Can you do a barn tour please? And why don’t you have a barn cat to keep mice away?
I don't know about you, but that high pitched sound is driving me nuts!
You were very polite. It was really a disco and light show for a rats' banquet.
MOUSE IS LIKE ,COOL A DISCO BALL!!!!!
I think this work great in the cabinet :)
Heat up a needle and stick it into your nail to release the blood blister.
herohunter81 that's what the doctor told me it just resulted in a lot of pain and loss of the nail. Each of three times.I'm done with that that advice.

With these ultrasonic traps have you tried using more than one? Maybe the extra units would help boost the effects.
Are rats and mice a sustainable food source?
You should do videos on mosquito traps and deterrent videos.
Thanks you saved me some money 👍
Who the hell is always targeting his account? His account is more educational then anything else.
You killed Sonic!
Have you considered trying to usea airzooka in Any of your traps live catch of kill?

Thank you Shawn once again!
Excellent test, but I did not see much repelling. The rodents seemed to be getting their fill of food and they kept coming in.
Can you use a mink to try to attack the rats
0fficial King look up Joseph carter the mink man on you tube he uses minks to catch rats
Kaleb Nowakoski lol that's what I've seen wanna see him use one
0fficial King I don't remember the video, but a weasel did attack and kill a mouse on camera for Shawn
Hello from Melbourne Australia, are you sure it is switched on?
Make video: Does mint repel mice& rat?
My LED Light doesn't come on . The Red light comes on and off. Defect or the user?
Do any of these kinds of sonic repellers work terribly well? I’ve heard of cat repellers that seem to work but they seem to do so because they react to the cats motion and the sudden light and sound scares them off.
Hi Shawn have you ever tried the amonia...?
those wood rats are huge
Would chlorine powder deter rodents?
If you hit 1mil subs you Should set up like 100 different mousetraps in the barn and just see how many catches you get.
Eh... I think we should skip over this one for future use, Shawn
Interesting test. It proved mice have better hearing than a deaf rat.

Why is it called ZAPP if that things doesn't shock mice
I just did a few things
Toxic Rhino I'm really proud of you
I have used the little plug in ultrasonic units. They do nothing. I have watched mice run right over them.
I can see you're hiding your injury, why don't you just use your right hand for the video until it's healed lol
His right hand is camera shy!
Mark Fryer xD
If ultrasound could repel rodents, businesses would use so much. But you wouldn’t find commercial ultrasonic repellent
plot twist he's actually doing a 👌, not hiding his injury
btw its fraustraiting how the rat always gets away
I wonder who would win in a fight between a chihuahua and a wood rat. Hmmm...
That was surprising that it repelled the smaller rodents, but not the larger ones.
you wouldn't want the light on whilst your sleeping though
Great video
Did we really expect this to work?
I have not read the results yet but I BET it does not work...

Can you try using a mink to get rated
When testing products like these you should put them on a motion sensor. That way it is definitive weather it scares away rodents or not.
plot twist: your mice and rats are totally deaf ^^
Can that be used in a chicken coop?
This product does work and very well. However it burnt out within 8 days after turning it on.
Weasel trap?
