I like that someone gave it a try, but overall, it's too sensitive. Maybe some thick grease in the center bearings to make it a bit less "spin happy". The mice know it's unstable right from the start, so only the greedy ones get caught.
See the short plastic cover that allow the middle ballbearing to roll on the stick? Make it so long the mice will have to stand on it. As soon as they touch the spinner the surface they are on will spin too and they will drop.
No this ones better because it terrorizes the mouse for a good long while before it dies. Just kidding. But it clearly does which is probably bad for karma if such a thing exists. But if it did it would be like being in a contract which you aren’t aware of in many life times which is a little unfair.
It's an effective trap for sure. Though like some of the other comments said, the trap may be a bit too loose and would discourage the mice. But in any case, I'm glad this puts newfound purpose to Fidget Spinners.
I'm one of the folks that isn't as impressed with this design as others I've seen on the channel. The main flaw as I see it is the 3 rods of the fidgit spinner obstruct and push the mouse away when the wheel just starts to jturn a bit. This results in the mouse never really being able to get far enough out to completely loose it's balance and fall into the trap. The extra bearing sets just add to the complexity and cost, and in my opinion don't really improve the design. Count me as a Monday Morning Mousetrap Quarterback! Love the channel!

If you can't afford a mouse trap, you definitely can't afford a fidget spinner. Probably not even the stick to put it on. Certainly not the bucket. You're probably gonna eat the bait. LOL
@@dando541 While you’re at it, be sure to collect enough for firewood since you’ll need to cook the mice for food after catching them. If you’re hungry, I think panhandling is a better option, but to each their own.
legit just started cackling when you said "Okay mouse get on the fidget spinner mouse trap." never in my wildest dreams i ever thought i's hear you say something like that.
Looks like a novelty knock off of the traditional spinning bucket trap- very similar to a brand new bass lure at bass pro shops with flashy packaging. It's gonna catch more buyers than rats.
Clever design and a good use for outdated fidget spinners. The only things i would change are make the three dowel rod ends shorter, put some sort of covering over the three dowel rods to give it some stability and some weight, which might slow down the spinning, i would basically look like a spinning triangle. Also glue some thin flat pieces of wood on the center dowel rod ends to make it easier to access the center....
If you have a TIG welder and there is minimal airflow in your barn I would suggest spraying some argon into your bucket and maybe use a deeper bucket too. It's odorless and will asphyxiate even those big rats jumping into it.
It's nice that you feed the wild critters, but personally I would have kept them as pets, lol. I had a huge colony of house mice once. They're so much fun to watch and are more active than the fancy mice.
Shawn, I'm still experimenting with different liquids in the buckets. The cold winter weather dictates the need to use something that won't freeze outside. I've used windshield washer fluid good to -20°F so far it works great. I liked the trap you called the thunder dome because it keeps the trap active in most weather. But I think I'm going to be creative to create a tarp tent to go over the entire trap. If I'm able to video the trap in action I'll send it to you. Thanks for all your help and inspiration. 👍🏻🇺🇲♥️
And tomorrow on Trespasser Tuesday... Wile E. and Rocky's famblies have a little char-be-que after some dumb human flicks a smoke. Meanwhile, Peter Packrat got a full load on over in the barn. DISPATCH! WE GOT ANOTHER LOAD FOR THE BEAR BATH!
if anything it needs the enclosed bucket of some sort tried with the walk the plank traps. The weak point of these rollers is rats going over the top and sides.
Shawn I would gladly watch your water hole game trail videos without any trapped mice at all. Some RUclipsrs have channels with only that. Either way keep up the great vids
If the rod is a meter length from both sides of bucket then it's a very very effective trap because then the mice either have to get the bait or go back. There's no middle ground where they try to reach from the sides
Random question but are mice like cats where they always land on their feet? I noticed both mice fell practically upside-down but still managed to straighten rightside up quickly before hitting the bottom
shawn I have an idea for a rolling log or walk the plank trap for rats. mount a rolling log or walk the plank trap on top of a 55 gal plastic drum and in should be made so it does not roll or tip for several days and then change it so it tips or rolls after they have started to trust it
we finally get to see a rat hunt a caught mouse in a trap and the mouse prevailed... guess the rat wasn't THAT hungry. yes yes there was that one video where the rat went back and forth to eat every or nearly every mouse in the trap but i think the bucket was not a clear one or it was blurred. but yeah, to spinney for the less dumb and greedy mice. still love these videos. =)

if the outside bars were a bit longer and you baited the center rod the mouse would be inside once it realized it spun .. seemed like once they were in the bars it was all over

What about using a paint roller frame
You could easily modify this one to be a solid 'log' and it would probably work even better.
Seems like it needs some kind of weak "catch" to give it the impression of being stable until they put their weight on it.
If you catch a big and small mouse in a live catch trap does the bigger mouse ever eat the smaller mouse?
