Hi, you’re probably not going to see this but I’ll type it anyway.
If only the bottom of your radiator is getting warm you have air trapped in the system. Buy a radiator bleed key and and bleed the radiator. Keep the valve open until water start coming out, you should hear hissing before hand. If the problem still persists then you probably have a blockage. Turn off the water supply, remove the radiator from and wall and flush it through.

Sean the reason why your towel radiator only gets hot in the bottom is because there are small air bubbles in the water inside of your radiator and this air raises and lays itself on top of the water so the water doesn’t reach the top of your radiator. On top of it like on the side of the radiator it should be a little thing that you can push in and if you do that the air will flow out from the radiator. Then when it’s empty on air it should be able to get warm on the top as well. :)

Often referred to as bleeding your radiator and one of the simplest task you can do in your house that many people forget. You should bleed all your radiators(Upstairs ones most susceptible) before the winter hits and then check that your boiler pressure is still within acceptable range. There is either a button to press or a key to turn the pressure valve on and off. Stop when you see fluid leaking from radiator
Jack, The dirt that you think that you cant see or you been cleaning it for ages and is not going away is outside the house not inside the house. You also need to clean the outside part :D Sometimes. Sometimes there is also some dirt on the door.

REGARDING YOUR TOWEL RADIATOR:
Probably not going to read this among all the comments, but you need to get the air out of your towel radiator if only the bottom gets warm. There's probably a vent somewhere at the top of it that you need a radiator key for so you can open it to let the air out. Just make sure to have a towel to catch any water that follows once the air is out and close the vent as soon as no more air comes out.

Yep
Jack for your cold at the top hot at the bottom towel radiator you need to bleed it. It means your radiator is full of air so you need a radiator key and tissue. Find the spot where you can put in your radiator key and you will see a hole somewhere next to it and then turn the key so you hear air coming out and then wait until water comes out and then turn the key so it closes then you radiator should be hot all over.
the key will go at the top somewhere

It sounds like you need to 'bleed' your radiators Jack. Then it will warm up properly. After you do you may have to check the pressure on you boiler/water tank.

Actually Jack the large rooms are called 'Open Concept' my mom used to watch a ton of house remodeling shows where everyone was remodeling for open concept houses. Essentially it makes the living area (you know living room, kitchen, dining area) one giant room area. Because you want to smell burnt food from your kitchen throughout the rest of your house.

What is it with this town and people stealing radiators? Is there a secret underground radiator trade?
Room sizes actually do go in and out of style, depending on what is portrayed in the media as comfortable. In my housing class, we talked about that as well as how colours can affect how the room looks (warm colours are advancing colours and make the room look smaller because everything looks closer, cool colours are receeding colours for the opposite reason). Of course, whatever the owner of the home is comfortable with comes into play as well, but lots of people do enjoy larger spaces.
