I was student at SU then and remember all those guys. Those were the daze in THE Big East! What a fun time to be a student, I really miss those times and the eighties... I hope SU gets back on top with the new coach.. SU '88
Never would of guessed in a 1,000,000 years that Pearl would play only 3 years in the league and M. Jackson would play 17+ years, and lay the foundation of the GS Warrior dynasty.
I remember watching this game. My parents were at a party for my dad's work and my neighbor had to babysit me. There was a snowstorm and my neighbor's downstairs TV couldn't get reception. We tried everything and then found we could get a fuzzy reception on his tiny black and white TV in the corner of an upstairs room. We watched the entire game for that ending. Oh the trials and tribulations of being an SU fan.
I remember Tommy Heinson calling a Boston Nets game in 87..... and saying what an utter waste of Pearl’s talents because the Nets were running a half court system. Tommy’s words specifically were you draft a guy like Pearl you’ve got to turn him loose to take advantage of his strengths. Cousy said the same thing. It’s no wonder Pearl lost his passion and love for the game in his years there:
Love some Pearl. Fellow alum and Brooklynite. But a combo of a bad Net organization, a changing NBA game, and Pearl's lack of desire to play anymore....!
its okay mr jackson when I was a frshman at st vincents idi dnot want your auto graph anyway. I just wanted to congratulate u on your game with the knicks..
Golden Age at PG for Syracuse. Sherman Douglas was riding the pine. This is what life before the 3 point shot looked like.

What a mystery 😮. His in and out crossover was unstoppable

There should be a 30 for 30 on what disaster first round the 1986 NBA draft was. But it might be the best 2nd round ever.
Overrated. Big time.
@@richardyoon4209probably one of the most talent stacked draft, somehow all the first round talent became addicts
I can't believe they screwed this up. I miss the REAL Big East

Golden age of Big East BB.
Willie Glass from Atlantic City was tough!
This was from March 8, 1986.
That MSG announcer saying Pearl's name. That is nostalgia
Len Berman, who did local NY sportscasts as well.
@@jdthebooster Actually meant the MSG PA announcer...Berman also great.
@@Tombacuse1 John F.X. Condon, MSG annnouncer
Watching this game, it's just so hard to believe both of these teams lost in the round of 32 to Auburn and freaking Navy
Navy had David Robinson who was literally unstoppable and a ridiculous defender.
I was a kid growing up then the acc and big east was loaded things just aren’t the same snymore
As great as Pearl was at Syracuse. He didn't win anything at his time there and never went far in the NCAA tournament.
The Celtics should have drafted the Pearl
Damien Kirksey over Len Bias? Lol okay.
