All I know is the NHL seriously needs to start the season 10 days earlier and trim a few days here & there along the way so we don’t have 3 or 4 huge events happening within a couple days.
A SCF going to G7 is just one of those things…but having G7, then HOF announcement, then Draft, then FA opening all jammed together is kind of a bummer.
Just start the season a little bit earlier & try to trim a week of the overall length of the year by ditching occasional extra days (All-Star break, etc) here and there.

tbh DFM shouldn't feel bad if they get put on bottom lines... because you want good defense to protect against the good shift changes. I think Reilly and Brodie will drop lines for Tenev and OEL... which should put a pair of DFM against other teams on the tail end of shift changes that can add to the Offense of the 4th line. So that is what I think is that those two should be on the fourth line to pretty much invert the Defense to Offense for that line.

Same as last year actually, couple decent signings that make sense, couple ones that make no sense.
Overall there's no real move because it's the exact same core again so far.
I'd say at least he finally fired Keefe, but he only kept him in place as someone to fire as scapegoat for his first year not working. It was a weak move to keep him as an excuse and essentially punt the first season.

As a 42 years old, I think the same as I did when I was 20; ageism is stupid. People acting like 34 is middle or old age is ridiculous. I see all around the league many of THE best players are in their 30s so I don’t get the gripes. Of course, my first team has Sidney Crosby doing Sidney Crosby type things so.
I also see the Ducks, who strive to have more younger players and get rid of the good ones with experience… don’t get me wrong, I like Gibson, Leo, and McT… but as a team they struggle a lot even just in passing the puck.

      @LisaMarieFord 25 дней назад

@@chrisdranfield3828 Are they though? We’re specifically talking hockey and NHL hockey here. I was also talking “many” not “all” nor “majority”. Even by your argument, three of the six years you suggested are in their 30s. I’ve watched plenty of games. Goal scoring isn’t a common; they’re hard earned and it takes a team effort. As far as making plays for the team it’s very evident if you watch; many of the best players are in their 30s.
I prefer to go by what I see than stats, but let’s look at various stats; see how many are in their third decade in the top 25. I didn’t say all, but there are clearly many.
The guy who just won The Stanley Cup for the Panthers (Bob) is 35. We’ll go with the finals since that’s the most recent play in the NHL. Their other goaltender, Stolie, is 30. Look how many players in their 30s scored goals just during the finals; Ekholm, Henrique, Tarasenko, Nugent-Hopkins, Montour, Perry, Janmark, Hyman, Ekman-Larsson, Rodrigues, and that doesn’t include assists or the plays/efforts that got the goalscorers the puck.
If I got my stats correct Edmonton had what, 10 players in their 20s and 12 players in their 30s; while Florida had 13 players in their 20s, and 9 in their 30s. The biggest obstacle for both teams was excellent goaltending. There were, I think, 41 goals total scored by 24 different players. Of those 24 players 10 are in their 30s, some with multiple goals, including the guy with the most goals scored: Evan Rodrigues. Yeah, I think it’s fair to say my assessment that there are currently a lot of great players in their 30s in the NHL is a good one.
McDavid haters already talk BS about his age, at freaking 27. So yeah, ageism and negating people because of their age is stupid.

I’m sorry that your feeling don’t believe the stats.
But overall over a players career their best statistical seasons will fall in the 26-30 age range.
Obviously this doesn’t happen for 100 percent of players but for the vast majority this holds true
I do like that your eg is talking about a single series to talk about some older players who scored goals. You fail to mention that none of those older players are the reason their team was there.
Both of them are carried by players on their mid 20s
      Florida , ekblad ,forsling,barkov,
      Reinhart,tkachuk.
      Oilers, draiastl,mcdavid,Bouchard.
You talk about the few elite players who are older and still effective in the league failing to take notice that most players that play in the league retire before 32.

@@chrisdranfield3828 Aww, you brought feelings into it. How sweet. (note sarcasm). Why because I gave you examples that support my opinion or to attempt to patronize me?
Interesting that you have now changed the age range for your “statistics.” 🤔
You’re generalizing of what you think it should be and not looking at the great players in the league. None of my comments are about other sports nor about generalization. None of my comments negate the great players that are in their 20s or their teens. They’re purely about not discounting nor discrediting someone and their skills based simply on their age. As previously mentioned there are some already doing this for some of the best players in the league that are still in their 20s.
I’m willing to bet you didn’t look up those top 25 players in each place for either the regular or playoffs seasons, did you?
Whose the top skater? Come on, guess… whose the top skater in the league with the most points during the regular season? Don’t know? That would Nikiti Kucherov, who is 31, followed by Mackinnon and McDavid, and then Panerin, who is let me see, 32. So top four skaters and half of them are in their 20s, half in their 30s. 🤔
Out of the top 5 goal scorers three are in their 20s and two are in their 30s.
The goaltender who has the best average during the 23-24 regular season at the ages of 29-30 during the season? Who is Anthony Stolarz? Actually the top three goaltenders with the best save percentage during regular season are all in their 30s.
I could give you more regular season and more playoff examples, but why waste my time. You’ve already dismissed the ones given, despite the undeniable evidence. You can also look these things up yourself, you’re just choosing not to. You’re seemingly close-minded and set on being agist. More’s the pity. Meanwhile, players will go on playing well.
Dismissing or negating players because of their age is ignorant. It’s ignorant if someone does it for a player in their 30s. It’s ignorant if someone does it for players in their 20s.
Oh, please, go tell the Florida Panthers or Panthers’ fans that their season, playoff run, and Stanley Cup win was “carried by players in their mid 20s”, not a team effort, and give them your honest opinion about players in their 30s. I’m sure Bob’s fanbase wouldn’t have an issue with that at all. Just keep in mind Matthew Tkachuk is one of those.

You’re the only one going on feelings.
Forget small sample sizes comparing the best players who will be in 😂the hall of fame and their ability to perform past 30.
The vast majority of players retire before age 30.
With the majority of players having their best statistical years also before 30
      Those are just the stats.

OEL was bad in Arizona and Vancouver. He was not noticeable in Florida and didn't have to be thank god. Tanev is a good defensive defenseman but will deal with injuries because of the way he plays. This is a big improvement on the blueline but Steve, not elite players.

Chill Leaf fans! Pay attention. Tanev is old and damaged. Like Mattews, he has only once ever completed a full season. He didn't want to be a Toronto Maple Leaf, it's about convenience. He wants to playout his career in his home town and doorknob Treliving signs Humpty Dumpty to a 6 year deal. The upcoming season hasn't started yet and it's " Wait til next year" " hopium "
