I make a point of supporting HMV.
We're lucky to have such a store. I also like buying new copies wherever possible.
I'm also not too bothered about price if it's a film I'll rewatch numerous times. Which is generally what I'm adding to my collection.
I probably spend about £100 a month in HMV. But I don't smoke, drink or have massive debts. Films are what i enjoy.

    • @BobBobOnYouTube

Do HMV employees always follow you around the store and put stuff on the shelves right beside you? They always do it to me and it drives me crazy.

@@ApolloT-vp5dn I had a feeling it was just me. They must think I'm going to steal things. I move to a different section after one comes right beside me and starts putting things on the shelves because I feel like I'm getting in the way of them doing their job. 10 seconds later, they're right beside me in the section I moved to. If it only happened once, I'd say it was just a coincidence but it happens every time I go in there.

I’m going to be trying to support the high street more. I’ve neglected it for too long and been ploughing everything into online retailers.
I am trying to adjust my collecting habits a little. In the past I’ve been picking up anything and everything. Now, as you’re doing. Aiming towards the movies I love and the ones that I will rewatch.
Price is bothering me a little more when a limited edition is the only option and they’re charging a massive premium for it.

If you are a completionist there is still value in the original colour grade. Back in that time, early 2000s, these new-wave French movies (Vidocq, Amelie, Dobermann, Brotherhood of the Wolf) had this reputation as having a comic-book aesthetic. They were colourful and unnaturally vibrant. It was a thing of that time. It's debateable if they aged well or not.

enjoying your channel and film collections. but will manufactures still be producing dvd, blu ray & 4k players in the future or will the internet & streaming film services eventually turn our collections into ornaments.

    • @PhillwithadoubleL
      @PhillwithadoubleL  5 месяцев назад +1

I think the manufacturing of players will certainly drop. Think there will be a demand for them for some time yet… although I can see a number of companies dropping out of producing them over time. In a similar way to what we’ve seen with vinyl record players. I think there will always be a niche market for those that want physical so can’t see them disappearing completley.
But for the most part, I think the reliance on streaming content will become more and more as the younger generations grow up. My kids don’t give a damn about physical media so I already see that shift.

The Blackining was amusing, well done, light dark comedy. Like Totally Killer on amazon sorta. I would snag it checp but I am primarily a horror/cult/syfy person so I tend to collect that type more then others. Black Phone was one of the ver very few that the hubby also wanted in the collection so that we grabbed off amazon on disc with digital. He is NOT allowed to touch my discs :) He is too careless. I agree, their DVD pricing is basically pointless, most are 1p ... I suppose you could take in 100 of DVDs for £1 or drive down there with 1000 for £10. Their DVD section is depressing as you can see about 200 copies of Love Actually or whatever films, just rows and rows of the same stuff. I occasionally look for a DVD if it is an unusual one. I either sell the more unusual ones on ebay but most are just for the charity shops, some charity shops are now doing 20 DVDs for £1.

Seeing endless rows of the same DVDs is plain depressing with the occasional gem in the set (as well as very few customers venturing into the section). Nice finds! Maybe apart from Babylon - too much grotesque for me. Oppenheimer overrated so good choice not choosing it :D And if you like open worlds then you have to play Days Gone and Tsushima. I’m interested in Babylon more because of Chazles previous work. It’s been a temptation for a while.
Game wise, the open world games scare me a little. I don’t get a great deal of time and sometimes with the open world things o can’t remember where things are and end up wandering aimlessly for far too long.
Personal faves have been from Naughty Dog with Uncharted series and Last of Us. Just catching up on Spiderman and the Tomb Raider games at the moment. Had a big long break from gaming because of having young kids. Didn’t want them getting addicted too early 😂
Video length, I tend to try not to over extend them too much. I like a bit of pace through the things (which is why my videos might seem a little choppy at times). I may go in for some longer ones though and take my time on some subjects in the future. As soon as my skills as an editor develop and I learn more about what to film to keep it ‘interesting’
