Nice restore job this toy cars and trucks were built to and not made over seas !powder coat will last longer than original paint AWSOME job 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
..part of the allure to these videos besides the expert angles, backdrops and overall editing, is the sound. Clicks, bends, clangs, snaps and whirs. No weird music or annoying voices. I, too would have enjoyed seeing the fix on the driver's door..wonderful finish (I notice a slight difference in color between the cab and the bed..not a huge deal) Bravo! Bring on the trailer restoration~
Hi Brutis 1983,you should try to find the van & the big moving truck & put the covered trailer behind the van & the open top trailer behind the pickup & find a car trailer that will fit behind the big U-haul truck
Super restauration comme d'habitude, très beau modèle ! Il faudrait peut-être raccourcir la pince pour que le bout soit plus large, ça éviterais de déformer les languettes. 👍
Such a great restauration...the truck looked nice in the old used look...like a real old Ford which had a long life as a workhorse....but estorated it blooks perfect ;o)
I think it might work better if you primered it first and sanded on that layer. Primer is thinner and when you paint the regular color on afterwards it will preserve the details better.
Powder coating will only stick to bare metal & must be electrified. Positive lead in the paint & at the nozzle, negative lead connected to the bare metal object you're painting. Bake at 350F and it's the hardest paint finish, even harder than Emron epoxy paint used on tractors, bulldozers, heavy equipment, etc. I've never seen someone powder coat over an existing layer of powder coat. Even with wet sanding, I'm not sure how that 2nd layer will hold up over time. It may peel off. That 2nd layer is also why the front & back ended up 2 different shades of orange. But hey, everyone's a critic when you're watching & not doing the work. He musta took these things apart & put them back together as a kid. Definitely has the knack for it.
@@jamesooten3659 I've seen that on other channels as well I can't speak for it sticking but do you think they would make a powder coat primer if it didn't work?
I still have both the truck and U-Haul trailer set that my dad brought home to me when I was 8. I never played with it, and have kept it clean and dry. It's still essentially brand new. The question is: Is it worth anything?
I like your use of the powder coat, should be a long lasting finish. I gather that this coating didn’t need electrical action to attach it to the body. Could you display the names of the finishing abrasives that you use, grit size etc.? Nice job done. I remember these and similar models as advertising in dealerships.
At the end of the video I remember having one of those trailers.... Definitely remember the trailer.... I think I had truck too... Don't remember the truck 100% but do remember the trailer.... I had a lot of Tonka trucks..... I have a picture of me in 64 with a "Remote control" tractor trailer with three Tonka trucks on a flat bed..... Back then " Remote control" ment it had a controller with a 6' wire hooked to it... Lol. It was the s*#t back then.... Great re condition 👍.
My brother and i had the log hauler and car hauler back in the late sixties. You could tilt the cab to turn the front wheels. I believe these were Tonkas.
BUDDY-L Made good toys TOO! Never heard of Nylint toys, but I didn't have many toys when I was a kid even some of my toys came from our local garbage dumps.
I bought one of these with the trailer after watching this video, the truck is the next style newer than this one and it has the front spring suspension, not sure how I feel about doing a total restore, or leaving it intact...
@@joe_diy I also bought the moving van model too, it's in good condition with very minimal rust/paint dings, windshield is not cracked, rollup door works. They are pretty cool. I like that the decals can be bought to replace the damaged originals, and it looks like new windshields can be had too to replace the broken ones, my truck's windshield is cracked in 2 places.
Very nicely done! I found a Uhaul truck of the next generation (the '65 Ford) with those white hubcaps. There is no windshield. Do you know the best place to get a replacement windshield?
I wish you would have taken the time to fill in the rust pits on the body. They are very visible in the close up shots. Other than that, a nice job...BTW, why bother to neutralize vinegar? It's not caustic, matter of fact you can drink the stuff. Helpful tip, rather than a second coat of orange powder, you might try an "acrylic" clear powder to eliminate some of the orange peel after wet sanding.

I still have the whole set - Truck, open trailer and covered cargo trailer. Nice work
Beautiful job. Enjoy watching you at your craft.
Nice resto!..I like the fact you used proper rivets on the bed!
Great job on the truck, looking forward to the trailer resto.
Beautiful job, I love Nylint toys 👍👍👍 had one myself as a kid back in the late 50s.
Real nice work. And thank you for no annoying music
Joe, you've done it again, an awesome transformation. It has become a wonderful model.

Nice job would love to see a vid on the trailer
That truck was in good shape for it’s age good work 👍🏼👍🏼
That is a 1960 pickup for sure but F150 didn't come out till 1975. That is a F100...cool Toy!!
give yourself a gold star to put on your forehead Quintin!
The wheels without the covers and whitewall sides are a good depiction of todays trucks
Beautiful. Like it was brand new, just taken out of the box.
Another toy that I possessed that fell victim to the M80's.
Great work
I use to have these old tonka's and nylent when I was kid great memories and fantastic job always!!!!
Cool nice work. I love these old toys.
Sweet truck, amazing work 🔥🤘🏻
Nice F-100. Wouldn't mind having one again.
Awesome restoration.

It’s just beautiful! I hope somewhere there is a video of you restoring the trailer as well!!!

Beautifull work!

Very nice! Super miniature beatiful. I like tankou very much!
You should cover your needle nose pliers with tape to prevent marring the paint. Nice work!

Parabéns.
Coisa linda essa nova restauração
i had this truck and trailer. Good memories.

I had one like it with the trailer, cool!
I wish this truck was mine! I have a 58’ Stepside! That is a 1959 F100 Fleetside! 1960 had FORD written across the hood where the hood ornament is.

Hi bro 👋👋👋very good restoration Ford 👍👍👍
My brother and i had the log hauler and car hauler back in the late sixties. You could tilt the cab to turn the front wheels. I believe these were Tonkas.
This is awesome, beautiful job. Would you consider restoring the trailer as well?
One of the best vids ive seen
Fantastic!
Nice restoration.
Are the cab and bed different colors for a reason or just run out of paint? 😏
Ahh, NYLINT and TONKA; two of a kind, back in the 70s
BUDDY-L Made good toys TOO!
Never heard of Nylint toys, but I didn't have many toys when I was a kid even some of my toys came from our local garbage dumps.
I was thinking pressed-metal toys; the BUDDY-L toys I had were plastic
Watches restoration. Contentment.
Loved the true colors and work! Are you going to do the little trailer also? Big brother moving truck wants to know!
Nice truck, but I would of left this one alone.
Gearhead 6971 really why😉
would have
I've heard of the Rock of Gibraltar, the Queen of Sheba, and the Count of Monte Cristo, but who or what is the Would of Left?
Better than new.
What do you do with all your amazing restorations after you’re finished them? You must have quite the collection now.
I remember this and a small box trailer as a birthday gift about gazillion years ago
Ok it's great. But other type of recovery? Only easy? And the die-cast model?
Back when if these toys fell on you, they could give you a concussion
ENCORE!! Do the Trailer :)

Great job but would you please try and put the stickers on straight lol.

eBay, best place to find parts
Beautiful work. If you sell these items then where? If you don't then would love to see your display of all your work.
nice job. I know it's how it was originally, but personally I don't care for the white tailgate. I would have made it the same as the rest.
awesome piece! what psi are you running right off of gun?
Excelent!! 👍💜
