I for one wish Yang would shed more light on how he intends for us consumers to pay for his UBI. As it stands now, he talks like he intends for the automation industry and those who stand to profit hugely from it to pay for it. NOT TRUE! He intends to impose a value-added tax on consumer goods!
@L Alien Really? He's extremely vocal about wanting to give everyone $1,000/month but rarely, if ever, mentions that he also intends for everyone to pay for it. Frankly, I don't think the working class needs to be taxed a SINGLE CENT MORE especially when corporations and the rich, like Amazon, pay ZERO and it's to this 1% of the population that the profits from automation will go!

I like his UBI concept, but he plans on making us consumers pay for it via a value-added tax rather than DIRECTLY taxing the corporations and billionaires that stand to benefit the most from automation.
@@chezsuzie Corporations are consumers in the economy, too. All value created in the economy gets slightly taxed. Ford would get taxed to build a car whether it's bought or not. A VAT is one of the simplest and most effective ways to tax and it's fair. It's fair but it would absolutely hit corporations and rich people harder because they spend more.
As a side note, I think we should remove the income tax and replace it with a VAT. We don't want to discourage labor by taxing it. We need more labor. People that "use" the economy more (aka buy more) should be taxed more.

@@chezsuzie A VAT is more effective at targeting corporations and the billionaire class, because it is transactional. i.e., if they plan to buy anything for their business, do any business whatsoever (and every business has to buy something to do business), they'll get taxed. Doesn't matter how many shell corporations they set up, the VAT will take effect at some point. For consumers the tax burden is significantly reduced, since he has made it clear there won't be taxes on staples like groceries that regular people buy. You can refer to any European VAT system for an idea of how a VAT can be customized to target very specific income groups and business entities.

I love how Goldberg and now everyone keeps bringing up Amazon and the tax thing (Its not just Amazon though.) Please note the POTUS signed that bill for the tax break and it amounts to a 1.5 trillion today (700 billion in 2018) so companies can implement infrastructure and raise pay for their companies but it never happened; and the bill was not enforcing that agreement. The median between executives and employees increased. All families not in that bracket saw no improvement in their lives. This is what Andrew Yang is fighting for. We spent trillions to bailout automotive, trillions to bailout the banks financial crisis and billions to bailout farmers. Next is the people, lets go Andrew Yang! Yang 2020!

Yang understands that technology facilitates people’s lives, but how we currently govern the very technology that is supposed to liberate people is actually displacing and leaving them behind. Yang is pro tech in an economy where people are the priority. He wants to heavily invest in AI and alternative renewable energy including carbon capture. He has said new more efficient and safer nuclear plants could get us off fossil fuels faster while fusion reactors begin to come online (I believe China is leading the race). Other dems are 15 or 20 years behind, Yang is looking ahead. Terrorism is shifting to cyber terrorism and social instability. We need to bring our aging infrastructure to the 21st century so that a team of hackers working from a rogue location can’t cause country wide chaos...

@@chezsuzie Consumer goods like groceries and clothing are left untouched with the V.A.T., we pay nothing. The only people paying more are billionaires. Do the math, you have to spend $10,000 PER MONTH to no longer gain financially from the UBI (V.A.T. of 10% on luxury items). So if you don't spend 10 thousand a month, you're fine. The super rich who buy private jets, trade stocks for millions etc. are paying, not us.

I'm a Black female Independent voter and Andrew Yang is my top choice candidate, followed by Klobuchar and Warren. I (surprisingly) agree with everything Megan has said. He has the most innovative forward ideas, he's really smart, and relatable to both sides of the political spectrum. Even Warren happily admitted to reading his book on the debate stage before realizing it wasn't a good competitive move lol! As an Ambassador of Entrepeneurialship under Obama he had a huge role in overturning the economy and producing jobs so the experience is there, he has the knowledge, compassion, fairness, and composer that rivals all the others. I have seen begrudged Trump supporters enthusiastically switch to Yang and I have not seen that done for any of the other candidates. Perhaps Bernie, but many were turned off once he declared Democratic Socialism.
Please help hit your demographic-preferably among the Democrats. Convince them to do the same. We need that voter base so bad! #YangGang

Ha! I instinctively knew that he must have had experience in the NFL (not football). I was a debater and it's Sooo annoying hear what the media calls "debate". I love that he carried those skills with him. This is what makes him such an affective speaking and agreeable.

@@arik2916 He does support M4A and he has a lot of plans to lower the costs in the healthcare industry. Any candidates can offer M4A but if they don't have a plan that can make it sustainable, it either won't pass or simply breaks down over time. He is also planning to lower cost for colleges, and he does plan to do some partial student debt forgiveness. It is not wise to just offer free college and just pay for whatever those institution asks for, we need a more pragmatic approach that is more efficient for the long haul.
