I was there in 2004, with the 82nd. My feet were just 5-10 feet above a tree at the wood line, and actually landed just outside the intended, historical drop zone - likely the same drop zone in this video. I was immediately greeted by a gracious French family, with a can of Coke!
And then met an original, yet octogenarian, paratrooper (wow) who was there visiting, remembering, commemorating. Utterly awesome. Thank you for this video!

My uncle said when he landed on Utah beach first thing he saw was paratroopers stuck in trees and shot down he said he never got that image out of his head all those years

It may have been beautiful , but it was hell, and many died, in the air and on the ground and later from wounds! But this was a fitting memorial to all those who jumped into a flaming hell, by those who survived and went on to win the war!

Double stick deployment? Nicely done on the parachute type though? I'm guessing a practise run? Nice to see folks keeping the remembrance spirit of respect for our freedoms alive. 😶

I'm sorry no one responded to your question with an answer. The answer is: "Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa, written in 1896, and by act of Congress in 1987, the official National March of the United States of America.

Wouldve been cooler if they used c47 and the paratroopers were in ww2 gear not that modern riff raff

Agree. Will never get used to seeing that odd looking parachute canopy either. I suppose it provides for a more controllable landing but the old T-10 did the job for many, many years!
