If you started making effects pedal versions of these modules I would buy them in a heartbeat, you should hit up JHS or someone and see if you could get some of these designs into production!!
I Love following your adventures creativity and super curious musical journeys, when i make it to the uk one day we'll have to go shoot some snooker together
Well, there's "23" in it, and according to Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Psychic TV, Spiral Tribe, Robert Anton Wilson, Grant Morrison...etc, that IS something^^.
Yo Sam I wanted to say thanks for all the lockdown content you've been pumping out! It's so cool to see you doing projects and giving us something interesting to watch while we're all stuck inside!
The snare modulation was really awesome. It's funny right before you plugged it in I thought "What if you used something like a square wave to quickly modulate between regular delay and the Garbage Zone" I have a Memory Boy and one cool "Hack" was to attach an expression pedal to give it unfeasibly long delay times. past a point you got this "analogue bitcrush" effect which was incredibly cool
I like echo chips. But I like salt and vinegar chips too. But sometimes I think about fish sticks when I put on tube socks. On the other hand, I really like when LFO cycles so fast it becomes an oscillator itself (that moment your brain realizes it turned from LFO to a recognizable pitch)
Love you content sir. Going to build my own analog synth here in a few months (hopefully lol) with several of your designs. Thank you for what you do dood.
This is not "GARBAGE MODE", the circuit in the chip just simply surrendered to his new master 😋 This is sick, comrade..... reminds me a little bit of Ohmboys vst's
Thank you for the expose on the PT2399, never heard of it until now, looks like this will be in my next sequencer project. Love that Garbage Mode!!! :-D
I tried circuit bending a kids toy a couple weeks ago and it went pretty well wasn’t the best thing ever however I was wondering you properly got into building your own modules and and synths!
Just a thought: the daughterboard on a modular seems a predictable point of failure. Lots and lots of plug in and plug out may lead to cracks in solder joints. Why not simply using short leads between jacks and the main PCB?
That could be an issue on SOME peoples modules - but on this thing both are firmly bolted down the the panel, so I dont see it as a big problem myself. 'Kosmo format' has pretty chunky front panels and 1/4 inch jacks ;)
By my reading you can fit Kosmo Formatin into Eurorack? Just the units are wider, and you gotta deal with big jacks (or build em with 3.5's) .. Anybody ?
I am imagining fighter jets, better -ufo's or space invader things (stage props) that are speakers with all kinds of lights that go off, when designated frequencies are produced :) you could put furbiebabies inside them looking out ?
Dang... garbage mode reminds me of the years I used to "RAMscan" on my Amiga and play random memory through the speaker. My guess is that chip is digital and is doing some funky buffer overflow stuff. Amazing they'd put something like that into production. I'll have to look at the datasheet sometime. 8)
When you do live again, please do "audience Will have the power". So we as audience watch you doing and we can chat everything you do, like "put the output from the second delay back to the cv on the first delay.."
Is there anyway to circuit bend a prebuild pt2399 rever/delay board? Bought 10 of them off ebay cause the first 5 wasn't shipping and I've been wanting them for awhile for projects. Sorta wanna stuff 3 of them into a pedal. Also pair them with sampler boards theres a way to loop them haven't tried it yet but I have 6 of them now cause theyre fun to mess with and I keep ordering more. I think a looping sampler board and a glitchy delay could be a lot of fun for drone stuff
That Super nintendo in the background early in the video, is that a potential future project? The SPC 700 chip in it is basically a PCM sampler with a characteristic sound to it.
I'm sure you've covered this in a video before, but I can't remember which video it is: where do you get your aluminium panels from (if you don't mind saying), and what thickness? I get sad when I browse for pre-cut eurorack panels because they're so ridiculously marked up in price.
"PT2399 delay chip" me: hold on didnt i buy some delay chips a while a go? 'rummaging through stuff' Wuhee! PT2399's! For once i dont have to go and buy stuff i think.
Im not really familiar with modular systems, so this question might seem pretty stupid but the in/outs are just regular 3,5mm audiojacks that you connect your synths audio to right? (or any othe audiosource)
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER damn:( I'm sure you'll work it out! It honestly sounds like a dry joint that likes to disconnect with heat movement or vibration. Hopefully it's somthing stupid like that:p When it's running tap the joints with somthing non conducive like a chopstick.
There's a black ribbon-ish cable that runs from the voiceboard to the control board with the pots, it's a really common breakage point on them; it'll randomly change values or stop pots altogether.
It's worth investing in a pair of decent wire cutters with a parallel edge, they won't spring chopped resistor legs at you and they also don't leave cable ties razor sharp 👍
LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER Knippex are the only ones I know of that last. Maybe try them. I have two pairs one that I take care off and only cut small wires as intended and another one for more broad use.

It's a Dalek!!
I liked it when he said "PT 2399 Chip"
when did i say that?
i dont think i did
When he said "PT 2399 Chip", I felt that 😩👌
@@U014B Sam needs to sell shirts with PT 2399 Chip written on them, with a picture of a PT 2399 chip.

I don't think it's possible to be in a bad mood after watching these videos. Thank you for giving us our "sound therapy" videos!
Finally got mine built after I bought it four years ago and it's awesome!!

When the snare was controlling the splashback there were some great Scorn like moments.

The instructions voice with the music is sounding awesome would love to hear more
My wife just ordered and paid that to me to my birthday present! 🥰
My power and panel just arrived yesterday! Very excited to put it together, just waiting on the pt2399s themselves to arrive...
my first ever build was with a PT2399!
I am very glad to find your channel as an modular beginner. Hopefully in the future a workshop how to solder different module.
Cool! I played around and circuit bent a PT2399 prototype board. Fun little chip, for sure.
Reminds me of the weirdness from my Soma Lyra organismic synth. That one has weird af delay/mod as well.
Thank you for the expose on the PT2399, never heard of it until now, looks like this will be in my next sequencer project. Love that Garbage Mode!!! :-D
The Korg Monotron Delay is also using the PT2399
It also has its' own garbage mode which is basically its' main one

What an excellent unit for a lot of stuff! I especially like drum sounds through it. 😁
Always love your noises buddy!! Keep up the good work
Keep going on man! I know there will be a time I want to build these!
bombastic! most inspiring module to start a kosmo system!
Very Serious FUNNNN !! You might take what you have done and add a Yamaha EZ-EG, Casio DG-20 and a PAIA THEREMAX. !!!
Amazing! .... for a very easy bend I've found switching out the values on a cheap delay can have some similar effects..... far less precise though

OMG, this video makes me wanna mod my Korg Monotron Delay.
Oh duuuude, we're in the same boat!
Loved the build guide. I should get you to do them for all my Minstrel computer kits on Tindie.
Another excellent watch, hope the next video update won't be delayed.
See what I did there?
Great daughter- to main-PCB connection!
In 10:45 starts very great sound!!!
6:28 High mode engaged
What an amazing sound! Nice work
Very cool hobby! Im not a synth guy, but i like your channel. Very interesting.
Whoa! Talking Waaaaaay over my head! All I know is that the end results sound great and this channel is awesome.
Well prepared. 👍🏻
magical
This is fascinating, I even understood some of it
Love the Drum sonics through this delay, test equipment in a module l👽👽👽😎🆒🆒⚡️🕸
OMG! DUDE! This is so awesome!
love the board designs...awesome..
i've used pt2399s in a guitar delay pedal. not bad tbh. Nothing fancy but it's cool

Wow! The chips are cheaper than the t-shirts! 🥰
lot of kind of textures ... cool

great vid as always
Your designs are fantastic! Do you think it would be possible for someone to use them to make something more in the Eurorack form factor?
By my reading you can fit Kosmo Formatin into Eurorack?

Fucking love you mate. Keep up the good work. Analogue goodness
the PT2399 is the best thing since the BBD
Electro-genius again.

I think I am repeating that thought.
Now you can offer this to Infected Mushroom and Spongle =)
Looking forward to your stream :)
I think my bluetooth speaker has one of them pt3299 chips in it bc it has an extremely short but noticeable echo to the music its playing
Fantastic, as always! Are you sure 12 delays are enough? Are you really prepared!?
No I'm not. Watch this space!

Sam is the Brian May of synthesisers
just wondering if you can build a looper module because a delay and looper is what i need.
What size is the module - would it fit in a 5u/MU system? Would it be easy to convert to 15v?
Garbage mode sounds like a Travis Scott song about recycling
LOVELY JUBBLY!
That Super nintendo in the background early in the video, is that a potential future project? The SPC 700 chip in it is basically a PCM sampler with a characteristic sound to it.
Would it be pls possible to get the synth description (modules used) to get this insane sound at 6'00 🙏🙏 ?
Is there a solution for dead SAD4096( made by Reticon) chips?
at the start it sounds kinda like great white shark ;D
