Honey, Your dots don't work for the purposes of your illustration. Sponging patient? Sponging is not a treatment for fever. It only helps control body temperature. Etiology of disease is more important, C-reactive protein test via blood sample etc. Antipyretics drugs are used to supress fever. If you must use the TPR chart then at least talk about PAR score, so you known when a patient is requiiring medical emmergency care. In this hypothetical scenario (a work of fiction) When it's hot, your body radiates warmth to cool down. It does this by dilating (or expanding) blood vessels and increasing your heart rate and blood flowy radiates warmth to cool down.
What u are saying is right? But let me ask are u a nurse? What will u do when there is no physician to prescribe the antiphretic and u are not a prescriber? Also some of these things are dependent on the NMC regulation of your country so perhaps u aren't a Ghanaian trained nurse. Tepid sponging as it stands now is learnt in school but barely used on the ward, not to say it's not necessary. It is necessary in a lot of ways.
Yes sponging controls body temperature (and that is what fever is, high body temperature). And that's what the nurse would like to achieve. Treatment (curing) the disease is a medical duty, managing the signs and symptoms (caring for of the patient) of the disease is the nurse's duty. To an extent ....
