WHY didn’t you go to medical school in the US? You scored in the top 5% of the MCAT. Why go to the Philippines medical school and now try to get back to the US? Why not be a physician in the Phillipines?

@@TrangPham-vp1gs thanks for watching and thank you for your excellent questions!
It’s a very long answer because a lot of things played into my decision, here are the main categories:
      1. Finances
      2. Family circumstances
      3. Soul searching
      4. Global Health interest
      5. Long long long term retirement plans, like 20-30 yrs down the line
      6. Defiance/ego - LOL, just to prove to the haters and naysayers I’ve encountered (im my number one hater btw) that it’s possible to take this path
Do I regret it because my life is exponentially harder now? Maybe a little.
Would I have chosen a different path had I known EXACTLY how difficult this one is and how much more freedom of choice US MD seniors get in the match? Most likely.
But it is what it is and I’m here now so… nowhere to go but up I guess? 🤷🏻‍♀️
And that’s exactly why I’m making these videos (see playlist title), because US pre-meds considering this path don’t really know what it’s like on this side of the journey.
And I hope to enlighten and save as many souls as I can LOL jk.
I just want to spread the word - it’s hard, not impossible, but they will cycle between mindless optimism and seriously considering giving up and just living on a farm basically every other week. So if they’re willing to go through that and then some… well then carry on, and more power to them.
