In other words... Long ago there was peace, but everything changed when the burning legion attacked. Only the warchief master of all fighting disciplines could stop them, but when azeroth needed him most, he vanished. My brother and i found the new warchief a young orc named thrall and even though he is excellent at leading, he is far from ready to defeat anyone, but i believe thrall can save the world

I gotta say “Lord of the Clans” is an amazing book, I really recommend Warcraft fans to read it. It’s the one that tells the story of Thrall, and wow it’s good.

  • @TheReaverOfDarkness

Which side am I for? It really depends who is in charge. And in the Vanilla World of Warcraft timeline, most of it is flipped on its head. I definitely don't side with the possessed orcs, and I don't really side with the Orcish Horde for the most part, but with Thrall in charge I can definitely side with them. The Alliance is usually a force of good in my eyes, but their leadership seemed broken at this time. Stormwind and the human leadership had little direction other than to fight the horde, the leader of Ironforge was too stubborn in defense of Dwarven cities to bother stepping up to help, the Gnomish leader seemed to completely ignore the problems in the world, and the night elves' leader (true to form) was a washed up old fart with absolutely no capacity to grasp that the world is bigger and more important than the forest he grew up in. Malfurion seemed to show growth in Warcraft 3, but then he did a 180º and lost it again. If only his brother had been in charge, the alliance may have had redeemable qualities.
But Thrall was the only leader who actually wanted to unite the people. Trolls are generally very underhanded and selfish people, but Vol'jin is a leader I can respect. Sylvanas Windrunner is completely blinded by her frustration, but in the current time she isn't a problem. I have nothing negative to say about Cairne Bloodhoof. Therefore I see no reason to oppose the Horde and none to support the Alliance. It doesn't change in The Burning Crusade expansion, either. Though I hate blood elves in general, at least these ones had the foresight to forsake Kael'thas Sunstrider and follow a better leader, Lor'themar Theron. (Though Kael'thas may be right after all, they don't currently have a good way of knowing that and can't support him in good faith.) Now I also am very fond of the Prophet Velen, but him siding with the alliance does little to improve my tolerance of them; more to the contrary it seems to be a strike against his capacity to lead his own people in the right direction. But given his specific circumstances, I can easily grant him a pass this time.

They co-exist with Dranei simply because the Dranei are fomidable for any single Orc clan to fight and not much to gain so they let them be and sometimes trade with them.

I'd be and have been For The Horde, but after years of cities consisting of mud huts, I've head enough of the ugly, all dominating orc architecture. Blizz should have mixed it up more, especially in later expensions. if you have so much to choose from, undead to trolls to bloodelves, why always stick to the orc style, even after the leader of the horde changes?

well... keep in mind, that games, their mechanics and their features in generall back then were not as evolved and convinient as they are now.
and i mean "convinient" in a good way!
Quests were extremely repetitive back then and extremely boring - even by WoW standards.
also, the game back then was more rollplay focused as it is now.
e.g. even traveling will be less convinient and everything will take a lot longer then in modern WoW.
Some dungeons took up to 2 or 3 hours to complete them - at least, if you wanted to finish all quests/bosses. especially Maraudon, Dire Maul and the Blackrock dungeons (Blackrock Deeps, Lower Blackrock Spire) come to my mind. The Dungeon Finder current in current WoW usually splits those dungeons into three parts due to their length.
also to have dungeon quests (and their item rewards), you would often have to do a bounch of prequests.
But first, you would have to find a group, which required ACTIVE search, what will take time, since you dont have the dungeon finder...
having compleed your group search, everyone in your group had to TRAVEL to the dungeon entrance (meaning you might have to fight your way to the entrance).
and if you had to replace a group member durring your run, it was a pain in the ass, if you did not have warlock with you, since you couldn't even use the meeting stones to teleport them.
The good thing about this is, that if you performed good durring a dungeon run, this made you new friends, who would chat you up in order to invite you again the next time, they wanted to do a dungeon run. so the social life in WoW classic was more alife and you did not just stick to your guild.
Another good thing about classic wow was, that even the low level (10-59) dungeons were much harder then they are now.
but also because changing your specc was extremely expensive - so tanks and healers used their damage specc until they hit max level.
Don't get me wrong - WoW was great and a lot of fun back then - but even also took a lot of time.
I was lucky, I started the game back then with some real life friends from school, so most of the time, I didnt had those issues.
But I would recommend to find a guild before you dive into WoW classic, since i assume going in solo will be more frustrating then it was back then, when everything was still new und unknown to all players.
so in a certain way, the WoW Classic experience will be a lot different now anyways, since back then, noone had a clue, what was going on and what was still to come ^^
But i wish you a lot of fun playing WoW Classic.
Just always keep in mind, even gaming was different back then.
