Hi. I don't know if i have my setup anymore. You should be able to log with users also before moving FSMO roles. That's why it is a backup. If you have problems, my guess is that is cus of your DNS settings.
@@KaizenX7 Thanks for your reply, Kaizen. Actually, i did a test on my lab and the domain users failed to login to Active directory with the primary dc offline and the backup dc online. i troubleshot the issue and i saw the backup dc was not able to receive the replication from the primary dc after it was offline. Furthermore, i see many video mentions about transferring or seize the fsmo roles to promote the backup to primary dc. Is it a step need to be done for setting up a failover successful? Thank you.
Kaizen, the configuration in the video is just for replication and share load balancing between 2 domain controller. It does not automatically failover to the backup dc when the primary dc is offline. Some articles mention about transferring the FSMO roles to promote the backup dc to primary dc. Please double-check on that. Thank you.
No. This is if your primary is out of service. Only if you are not able to recover your primary. If not able to log on to the domain with primary is offline but backup running, there are problems with your setup. Receive replication should not be necessary either.
No. It's not a load-balancing setup. That is more of a network setup. No. No automatic failover. This is why you have to do what is shown in this video. If you don't do this the backup domain controller will wait for the primary to come back online. This video shows you how to promote backup to primary if backup and primary is online: ruclips.net/video/JbZclwh1f10/видео.html&ab_channel=KaizenX7 I wonder. In your setup, if you create a user on one of the servers. Is it replicated? If they are, you should be able to log on users by backup DC.
i want to ask, if my primady domain ( Server Domain 1 ) is not replicate to secondary domain (Server Domain 2), so i want to demote Domain 1 but before i must migrate all Primary Domain Controller from Server Domain 1 to Server Domain 2, what is the video can i watch to learn it ? thanks
Hi. I have trouble understanding your question. If you are talking about two different domains there should be two different domain controllers with nothing to do with each other.
DsBindWithSpnExW error 0x6ba(The RPC server is unavailable.) ldap_search for attribute supportedCapabilities failed with 0x59(89 (Parameter Error) whats wrong?
This just saved my night. My team and I thank you!
can you do another video to show a test on the backup dc to ensure it is available for domain user to login

It can be so many things with so little information, but i'm quite shure you have a DNS problem.
