What a great shot of a misty river in the morning! Followed up with more turtles, turtle rescues (Yay!) and manatees! Way to live. Enjoy the warmed weather (without bugs, wow!) and Paddle On! Tortoise
It was 2 or 3 years ago while visiting my daughter in JAX we went to Manatee springs, but sadly the only one we saw was a statue near the bathrooms. We hope for better luck next time.
Jen commented on Otter Springs entrance as we went by but with the river so low paddling back there wasn't really an option. As far as the campsite south of Manatee is it the Camp Azalea Ramp by any chance? We saw that and a small conservation area but per the map layers we were using we didn't see any overtly legal options
My understanding is you're only allowed to touch them legally in that area around Crystal River. Based on the talk they do at the start of that manatee tourist thing you are allowed to interact with them there only if they come up to you and you're not allowed to pursue them. They also make sure your on the surface riding a pool noddle so they can go down at anytime to get away from you. It's not something we'd be in a hurry to do again for various reasons.
I appreciate the way you make your content. I do notice that the way you interact with the natural world involves a lot of negativity. I can't tell if you actually feel like that or you are just doing it for the content.
I'm not sure I follow. For the record we make our videos just showing what goes on during the trips we do. We don't try to fluff them out or make them overly dramatic or do the social media happy happy I've seen in a lot of other thru hiker type videos. One of our main goals is to record our trips for us to have something to look back on.
Excellent video
Love the 76 buff!!!
In full disclosure I never went to that place. I just found the buff during a rainstorm, couldn’t find the owners, and liked the colors
Stand your ground, Matt. Tent… boat… wherever the wine is. Glad that Jen got some manatee sightings and thanks for savings those turtles.

Helped invasive species? Sounds like "no good deed goes unpunished". Have fun. Good Luck, Rick
You might be on to something with the girls learning about manatees. I did a report on them in the fourth grade.
It’s a thing!

Hey! I'm an old person so now when I'm stuck on my back, you are obligated to come flip me over.
That was cool how big are the Manatee?
It's always hard to size something in the water but they're pretty massive
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes did you or tatters get a chance to touch them and if so do the feel smooth I imagine the feel like dolphins
@@fatguyhisbackpack5755 We did not here but years ago we did the touristy swim with the manatees thing in Crystal River. They have a rough skin.
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes ok last manatee question are these freshwater manatees or salt water because I keep hearing tide coming in
Dude tell me Tater at least got you the fifth food group Peanut MMs
isn't it illegal to touch the manatees?
