bruh how is he talking all about the fish when hes constantly trying to flex that hes the best biggest predatory fish collector on yt? its just cringe to me
Dont let anyone give any problems for owning a pike, they are invasive and just like the snakehead, if you catch one you can not release it back into the wild, you can kill them all day without any problems from fish and game. There are lakes with pike in them where they have completely wiped out all the native fish and there are now only pike in the lake.
it's dope to see someone on RUclips keep pike or musky. I live in Alaska and also keep predatory freshwater fish found here in Alaska. I have a 2,000 gallon indoor pond which has 2 northern pike, 1 musky, a couple bourbot, several walleye, and a silver salmon.
How long can you keep a musky before it needs to be released? I highly doubt most people could afford a tank that could sustain a musky to full size. Excited to see it feed!
I have done this when I was younger and I built a 6,750 gallon tank so I am looking forward to see just how far Zac will go with this musky. When it's a couple of feet long its going to plow through the feeders like crazy
Great video. When I was a wee boy I was fishing with my pa and I captured a 2 inch ugly fish and I put it in my 40 gallon tank. It was aggressive, hungry and it hated being cooped up in a tank. It grew fast and soon it was 8 inches. The entire time it would viciously slap water at me when I opened the lid and skip along the surface of the water. It went half crazy so I let it go before my dad could build a pond to grow it out to eating size..
chain pikerel in my opinion they are the most aggressive predatory fish hands down. I have a creek nearby, they will attack a bait I'll throw them back and they will attack again.
I have fished for pike, musky, steelhead, bass, and salmon for 5 decades. The most aggressive fish I know of is the bluegill and all sunfish. The easiest to catch is that way due to aggression.
As a North American fishing adict the musky is very large but a finicky eater they are known as the fish of a thousand casts but northern pike on the other hand are bluer in coloration and if it moves it’s food lol
years ago i had a friend that worked at a pet store. One day they got a few nickle sized sunfish in with their feeder minnows some how. she asked me if i wanted one because they had nowhere to put them. I said sure why not not really expecting much having caught them my whole life, but that sunfish became one of the coolest fish with the most personality Ive ever owned. he was the smallest guy in the tank but he was the only one who never took any shit from the jaguar cichlid i had.
Musky are by far the most aggressive fish in north America, I've seen one bite my moms foot when she was dipping her feet in off the boat, craziest thing I've witnessed
I know you only keep fish that are native to North America, but you should try and get a tiger fish. I am not sure if it is legal to keep them though. I am living in South Africa and they are some of the most aggressive freshwater fish.
Love the tanks . I have always had tanks with fish. But this is the 1st year in my 43 years of life I have started a native aquarium . I have a few bluegill and a couple green sunfish . And my favorite pair have to be my to largemouth bass. I cought them at 2-3 inches and are now at 5-6 I chest now. The funnest part is watching them eat.
Not even sure where’d you get a Muskellunge but I’m sure he costed a pretty penny. So glad I support you Zac, you know how to blow expectations out of the water.
I live in Louisiana and I have many snakes ( pythons colubrids etc...) and other stuff. Well I have a all planted stank and a 55 gallon pond. and a 20 gallon pond. I just caught a baby (4-5in) Redfin pickerel. under the roach in a storm drain. hoping to get a baby bass with 2 bluegill.
I’m in the uk , I’m wanting a cold water pond , can you advise some predator fish that will do well in an outside ez pond ? Without the need for heating ? I know we have pike but not sure on species ,
I would like to have a minnesoda native tank one day, and perhaps keep a northern, or a musky (separate tanks of course) I'll be sure to check back here now and again to learn!
the most aggressive freshwater I have ever kept was a black bullhead that i wild caught seining a small creek in NC Oklahoma, Caught it as a 2" long fingerling. It finally died at 4 years of age at about 2 lbs. "Bully" like to hide in his 30 gallon tank in a hllow cactus skeleton or in his rock cave but as soon as a live earthworm or goldfish hit the water he was like greased lightning, scary fast. I would seine up small freshwater clams (mussels?) that were about 1/2' in width and put them in his tank. He would suck them into his mouth one at a time and spit out the shells in an opened condition. Dont know how he managed that but he loved them. He absolutely would not touch anything dead--live food only- no matter what i tried to give him. He would not even touch a freshly killed goldfish or worm. Total bad ass when feeding but shy and docile othewise. He would come out and patrol at night but stayed hidden when it was light out. I tried keeping green sunfish but they never settled in and kept jumping out. I have added hybrid bluegill to my pond and am thinking about how to grow one as big as I can get it grow.....
I guessed the fierce northern pike and walleye were not suitable to feeding with the other predator fishes, may be they will slav their tankmates when they starves with a few days without food.
Good luck. When it gets triple in size. Be sure to cover its tank. They love to jump out at moving prey. I use to work at a fish hatchery, breeder. Stocked lakes.
I love native fish. I have even kept a few myself. But most of them get too big for me to keep at the moment. So far i have kept fathead minnows, emerald shiners (wild caught), and a juvenile bluegill(also wild caught). I would love to keep some of the more bizarre ones like bowfin and American eels.
SC, I have a hard time putting yellow perch in my tank. Water temperature and water values are good but they don't want to survive. I only keep 1 perch in my 55 gallon tank, is the tank just too small to hold 1 perch? Help me out!
I have kept muskellunge before, both tiger muskellunge and green muskellunge. I used to have a 6,750 gallon diy tank that was 15x15x4 in my basement and I would like to say I did this in the 90's and the cost to feed one of these amazing and awesome fish is wallet crushing, so good luck with this Zac. Reach out if you want to talk about the 6,750 gallon build I had in my first house. I also currently have some Long Ear Sunfish that are breeding, just hinting.. lol
Awesome man! You're honestly an inspiration. I've always wanted to keep a small pet largemouth to watch it grow and see myself doing that soon. I have more research on equipment and materials to use to insure the health of the fish. Regardless, thanks man! I'm new to your page but quickly fell in love with it!
My lords. MY LORDS! Here's what I say to these other native fish kings. *[SPITS]* They are nothing to me. Why should they rule over me and mine from some other RUclips channel? What do they know of Gobies or Muskie? Even their biotopes are wrong. Why shouldn't we rule ourselves again? It was the channels over 1M subscribers we bowed to and now they are all boring. Here is the only King I mean to bend my knee to: *THE KING OF NATIVE FISH!*
You should now get a Northern Pike the Musky's closest relative so you can show people the difference, which isn't really that much, except color and pattern, in fact though the Musky gets bigger at least in Notth America, some say the Northern is the more aggressive of the two. Northern Pike are also found in the British Isles and Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and Siberia including Mongolia and the European and Siberian Northerns get even bigger than the Musky! Hell their Yellow Perch get as big as our Bass!!!!
One other thing. The fish family that includes the Musky and the Northern Pike also includes all the Pickerels which some like the Chain Pickerel can be fairly large they get much smaller as well. There are several different species of Pickerel all native to North America and they can be quite small like the Grass Pickerel, but like their Musky cousins they are ALL pretty aggressive predatory fish!
Where's the salmon, steelhead, lake trout, brook trout, snakehead and sturgeon? Also musky aren't even that aggressive, they're known as the fish of 10000 casts, pike are way more aggressive
I absolutely love the channel, I recently got a redfin pickerel an I love it, my end goal is to try an breed it. Anyway I love the channel I've actually taken a few of your tank ideas to heart with my fish
I use two different kinds of DIY lids! The white stuff is called egg crate lighting diffuser. You can get it in a big sheet from Lowe's, Home Depot or Menards for cheap! Then you use a knife and sort of... Hack it to size! Works great because you can cut out sections around filters or cords and still have a snug fit to the tank!
Only place I can think of that can take this fish for you once it’s too big Zach is The Ohio Fish Rescue. Big Rich has all the fish in the game but this one! Pool pond future resident would be an amazing addition at the rescue
I'm not sure if they'd want a native fish like a Muskie! But I love the OFR. Great place with some great people. So no offense to them... But they're not getting my fish! I'm too attach to this guy already! 😂
I enjoyed seeing the new Muskie and hope that it does well. I enjoy watching you being able to train your fish to eat for you on camera and home one day we can see that monster eat as well. You are a blast to watch and don't just give us all the good that you do, but some of your failures as well. Bad comes with the good and you can't be perfect but I am glad to hear that most of the fish you keep, that you do so for the pride of collecting but also to inform all of us if we should ever want to keep something that you might have and learn about what they live like. Great new addition and can't wait to see him grow and move up to the other tanks. Keep up the great work.
Not that impressive right now, but it will be when it grows out to adult size. PS) It's funny you don't see more people keeping native fish species in outdoor ornamental ponds. It seems like they would make an interesting alternative to koi and goldfish.
The reason why I keep watching you and not other utubers is that you keep it all about the fish... Love the blog... Love the fish x
I really appreciate that Emma! Thank you!
bruh how is he talking all about the fish when hes constantly trying to flex that hes the best biggest predatory fish collector on yt? its just cringe to me
I can tell you like the editing portion of the videos when I see new little things and details added. Just makes the overall quality better,
I appreciate you appreciating those details! The editing can take a lot of time... But I enjoy the work!!
Dont let anyone give any problems for owning a pike, they are invasive and just like the snakehead, if you catch one you can not release it back into the wild, you can kill them all day without any problems from fish and game.

AS3 SXP It would be illegal to release that fish Bud. He has a great home with Zac!
Ya I would need to make sure not to release him into a public lake! If someone had a private pond and wanted it, that would be different!
Appreciate the support my man!
I have done this when I was younger and I built a 6,750 gallon tank so I am looking forward to see just how far Zac will go with this musky. When it's a couple of feet long its going to plow through the feeders like crazy
Andrew Miller if it’s native then yeah
Darters are amazing, everything else just eats, poops, and grows at a pace that I cannot keep up with. Love your content!
Great video. When I was a wee boy I was fishing with my pa and I captured a 2 inch ugly fish and I put it in my 40 gallon tank. It was aggressive, hungry and it hated being cooped up in a tank. You get a gator gar &bowfin you definitely get the crown brother
The pike looks like what I pictured a freshwater barracuda would look like
chain pikerel in my opinion they are the most aggressive predatory fish hands down. I have a creek nearby, they will attack a bait I'll throw them back and they will attack again.

Super excited for this new adventure for you. Been fishing for Musky for over 20 years and they’re by far my favorite species.
I'm excited to grow this guy out and then see how I can apply my experiences to fishing!
You should get a landlocked sturgeon, if haven’t all ready. please tag me if you make a video about it, I want to see it!
I guessed it right, and that's a beautiful musky, I hope your able to care for him for a long time.
Appreciate you man!! I'm going to do everything I possibly can to keep him for the life of him!
My best Musky to date was, 46", 35lbs, out of Potomac River above Harpers Ferry in 2013. That is going to outgrow your tank in a few months.
That's a big old fish!! This guy is going to outgrow my tank in weeks... Not months! That's why I have the plan to move him up as he grows!
I know you only keep fish that are native to North America, but you should try and get a tiger fish. I am not sure if it is legal to keep them though. I am living in South Africa and they are some of the most aggressive freshwater fish.
I'm so excited to watch this musky grow
You and me both!! I'm definitely going to do a lot of videos with this fish!
Gonna be feeding that thing live ducks at somepoint

Worth it to get such an awesome fish!!
And I'm so glad you support me as well! It means a lot!
Pikes do get quite large in the uk they can get up to 3 too 4 foot
Can’t wait I to see Ben to tie a shiner by the tail that’s all I’m seeing in these ideas lmao
There are so many things we can do with this fish as it grows!!
That’s a Tiger. Hybrid with a northern. More a aggressive but lower ceiling for size.
Holy f*** bud, you are doing what the rest of us dream of to watch what this fish does on the daily, keep it up!
I’m in the uk , I’m wanting a cold water pond , can you advise some predator fish that will do well in an outside ez pond ? Without the need for heating ? I know we have pike but not sure on species ,
This is the Musky’s equivalent to being put in a psyche white room and a straightjack 😂
I would like to have a minnesoda native tank one day, and perhaps keep a northern, or a musky (separate tanks of course)
I'll be sure to check back here now and again to learn!
I’m in Scotland just bought a European pike. Thanks for your enthusiasm
I had already thought that you had the best predator collection of all time. Now it is CONFIRMED. 👍🐟
Thanks Chester!! I am already thinking of ways to make it even better!!
What about a northern pike next. Not sure if you have one yet but they are an awesome fish too.
You have the best collection of North American native fish now for you to have the best North American native aquarium hahaha
SnakeHead / BowFin are aggressive too .. I had to watch someones house that had a snake head and that was a crazy fish to watch that's for sure

Been watching for a while. This muskie made me subscribe. Cant wait to watch it grow.
Thanks for the support Brandon!
@@SCFishKeeping Did the muskie come from Jonah's?
Yes it did!!
I watch a lot of aquarium RUclipsrs but the kids got me to subscribe you found myself but my 9 year old daughter is obsessed with my fish tank
Dude that’s the coolest fish i’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to get me one of those
Super stoked for this! You’re definitely nuts!...but in a good way. If anyone can handle a Musky, it’s you. Bada$$❗️
Hahaha I figured you'd support me on this man!! I knew I'd have at least one!
Nothing against you but I think it’s cheap to buy one. I caught one and now he is in my pond as a pet.
Legally, I can only keep one in the state of Nebraska if it's over 45". I wanted to grow one out and document it's lifespan in the aquarium.
SC Fish Keeping Sorry, I didn’t know that. Well good luck with the tiger Muskie
Ben seems to bring the silliness out of everyone. Super cool for the Musky.
Definitely fun hanging out with him!! He's a good dude!
Good luck. When it gets triple in size. Be sure to cover its tank. They love to jump out at moving prey. I use to work at a fish hatchery, breeder. Stocked lakes.
[again, thak you for you're video and you're teaching of all these diffrent types of fresh water fish]👍👍
Hey, great vid. I just caught a Redfin Pickerel whose in my 100gl. I love how they just stare back at you. I love this fish
Just curious, do they not have to run like walleye?
Plz don't get me wrong definitely interesting
What freshwater predator fish would do well in water that is 30°c and likes rivers
I have a pool pond with three white perch 5 yellow perch two channel cats a bulkhead walleye all my turtles and a bowfin
As a creek fishermen, the most aggressive fish I ever see are bluegill
Bro this is sick.
Ur tank is so badass
That’s awesome. Great video man, hope y’all have a Merry Christmas
Thanks Jeff! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
I'm waiting for the news that you're building a giant in ground pool in your backyard or something to keep these monsters. 😅 that would be epic though
I'm building a pool outside for summer for mine I'm in Indiana so winter they have to be in a 600g stock pond
What amazing deffirence kind of fish thanks for sharing new friend sending full support💝👍

Love Jonah’s aquarium best place for natives was thinking about a Muskie but don’t want it eating my fish
No way it’s Milliken fishing let’s go!!!!
Awesome! Chris Bulaw had a tiger muskie on his channel for a bit. It outgrew his tank rather quickly, he ended up releasing it somewhere
I've watched all his videos on the Tiger Muskie! I'm planning to keep this one until it gets much larger than when he let his go!
@@SCFishKeeping That'll be very cool to watch yours grow, looking forward to watching it!

Looks like a Wisconsin strain of Muskie. Many Minnesota muskies have spots.
My northern was more aggressive than my muskys. Shorter lives means faster growth
Ive got jags with fire mouths and green terrors ... Its a mean tank ...
*Alligator Gar* "am I a joke to you"?

Hilarious! Thanks for the comic relief!
Awesome I saw them in a store awhile back just don’t have the capacity for such a fish
Very few do!! But they're incredible fish!
If you have the best north american collection then buy a pike and grow them together and make some tiger muskies some day lol. Nice work!!!
I love you vid keep up the good work
Dude Muskie are nuts! I remember seeing the episode on river monsters about it! This is gonna be epic Zac!
They are a crazy fish man!! I'm super pumped for this! Thanks for checking out the video!
I had a musky for a few years best fish ever but be careful they will bite you and kill other fish just for the fun
Way too COOL Zac!!! Congrats!!! I love BIG FISH!
A bowfin I can definitely say I’ve never seen in a private aquarium that would be cool
Haha I've ordered a yellow bullhead catfish and a grass pickerel from Jonah's aquarium. Awesome selection
Oh and Texas Cichlids are native and theyre some pretty mean ass fish
I endorse you also! Great native north american fish tanks! This video made my day because i was searching so long for a video like this

I caught a 12 pound 35 inch muskie in Ohio in lake Milton it was a record fish for that lake. It was a beast 330
That's wild!! Can't wait until this guy is that big!!
Come look at my collection over 2000 gallons in my basement I know its weak compared to some but I got 4 ponds that are pretty cool

First, you're a legend. Second, when the time is right try to get the muskie or even the largemouth to eat a mouse or something of that nature
😂😂 Legend... I appreciate that man!! I've tried frozen/thawed mice with the Smallmouth before! They weren't fans!
