- Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby Jr. (3rd May 1903 - 14th October 1977) was an American singer and actor. Crosby's trademark warm bass-baritone voice made him the best-selling recording artist of the 20th century, having sold over one billion[4] records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world.[
To me, Bing Crosby is and will always be the greatest of them all popular music singers. God bless him.

Now that we have downloadable music from places like Spotify…I have discovered a treasure trove of wonderful Bing singing. He was incredibly versatile…but my favorite is when he sings “jazz style”.
It's such a blessing that he died doing something he LOVED so much...playing golf. RIP and God bless him.

He was a true innovator who exploited the most modern of technological advances in musical performing and revolutionized what countless other singers of the 40's 50's and 60's did on a stage and in a recording studio. Frank Sinatra owed him tremendous debt as did Perry Como, Ella Fitzgerald, Kay Starr, Dean Martina, Peggy Lee Vic Damone, Dinah Shore, Eddie Fisher, Rosemary Clooney, Nat King Cole, Jo Stafford, Andy Williams, Vera Lynne, Pat Boone, Mel Torme, Doris Day, Lena Horne, Tony Bennet. Literally every single torchsong singer or crooner learned how to use a modern microphone and soften their sound to create an intimate less formal relationship with their audience whether it be in a dinner club, on a Vegas stage, in a recording studio or transferred through a box and a speaker into thousands and thousands of living rooms.

I see a lot of similarities between Dixie Lee and Gail Russell. Both were beautiful, talented and charming actresses but crippling shyness led them to drink to excess.
