For a VW, I would only use with Motul or Liqui Moli. As for viscosity: use 5W30 for colder environmentd (if you regularly start near, or below freezing temperatures); and 5W40 for hotter climates.
+Mick Psyphon Thank you Mick for the details. I should have mentioned about the colder & hotter environment for the oil types. Thanks for covering the details for us, we really appreciate it 👍😀
My pleasure Dale. The Tiguan is very easy to maintain.I have a lot of DIY maintenance videos. Make sure to subscribe to my channel to see more DIY maintenance.
Entjik you can use any brand oil as long as it meets VW spec between LL501 and LL505 so liqui moly, total quartz, Castrol, pentosin, ravenol, Royal purple, febi I am sure there are a lot more out there. just follow VW specification.
In the manual for my VW Golf R 2019, says if in a pinch, never use oil that doesn't meet VW spec number to the specific vehilce, the book says 1/2 quart max, not viscosity, but VW specs 504, 505, 507 508 etc...read the label 2018 tiguan is 0-30
Question: I have a 2021 USA spec tiguan. Everything tells me I need to use 0W20 which I think is too thin. I live in Texas, very hot summers and mild winters. Engine also has loud clacking sound even when car was new. I've been religiously changing the oil every 3000 miles, with LiquiMoly 0W20. Engine is super smooth for a couple of days but then the clacking returns. (this is a known characteristic of the 2.0L 4 cylinder) I'd want a smoother running engine if possible. Can I use Leichtlauf 5W40 and potentially make it smoother?
Hey can you do a video for change oil break for vw Tiguan i have R line Tiguan 2015 and thx for all yours videos and plz when u take about miles take also about kilos to understand more how many kilos do the oil Tc bro
+AMjaD A.j The 2015 VW Tiguan R Line looks very nice! Congratulations. My pleasure. I bought the brake oil and the coolant, but the weather has been very cold and rainy outside to do a video. I will try to convert miles to KM. Thank you for subscribing and the feedback
Hi Ej. How are u doing man? I hope okay. I have a a tiguan 2016 and when I change the oil after 5 thousand miles, I just have almost the minimum of oil on my car, Around 3 litros. Supposed the be around 4.7 lt but every time that I change, the car burn alot of oil. Is Your car does that? Thank u man.
Hi Brother Henry, Yes, it is normal for Turbo charged engine cars unless your car is starting to go rough. Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Tiguan burn oil. This is why we need to check the oil level and add oil. My friend 2015 Porsche Macan does that too, it has 3.0L twin Turbo.
Henry I.T I just got a 2016 Tiquan tsi R line a month ago. I noticed it’s been decent on oil. This is my third turbo charged car... had an 2002 Audi A4 1.8T, 2007 Audi A3 2.0T (hatch) and now the Tiguan. Oil burning is definitely super normal. Be sure to keep a quart on you always. Be well.

Miami is hotter so 5w40 is good? Or you have a better one ? I appreciate the advice
EJ, Thank you for this info! I am new to the VW Tiguan and had no idea what to use. I want to do my own maintenance, so this was very helpful!

I use liquimolly 5w30 with an oem filter and 0.5L of lucas oil additive every 10,000kms in 13 tiguan, runs smooth as butter
+Pierre Glauninger Good job Pierre 👍👍👍Liqui Molly is awesome! I use Lucas too from time to time 😀
it really is, I've used it in all my VW's for years never had any major engine/timing chain issues by doing so
+Pierre Glauninger That's amazing that using the right kind of oil makes a huge difference 👍👍👍😀
2.0 or 1.4 tiguan?
Hey Ej, thanks for your vids, What does the engine flush do ?! Should I add it on every oil change ?!
My pleasure. It removes carbon deposit from the engine. I only do it every 40k miles.

Yes, it will be fine
hi EJ , according to engine oil cup it shown CASTROL it means you can only use one oil brand thanks
That is not true. I prefer to use Liqui Moly. My corvette cap has Mobil one. I use Castrol synthetic too though because it is cheaper than Liqui Moly.
thanks EJ
My pleasure

AMjaD A.j My pleasure. 😀
Do I HAVE to use European Formula? Thank you!
Hi Emily. Yes, all my VWs, BMW, and Porsche use European formula.
That looks like a Rolex at @0:55
Yes, it is Rolex Submariner

Amsoil 5W-40 European oil and a MANN filter.
+Boodieman72 Amsoil is a great brand too. I forgot to mention that. Thank you
+Boodieman72 MANN Filter is my favorite filter 😀
I would say Amsoil is better than LiquiMoly and LiquiMoly is better than Mobil 1
+Boodieman72 I think, I am going to try AmSoil on my next oil change. 😀
The best filter for European cars!
my book said 4.9Q
4.9 to 5Q should be fine :)
