- By request, I made this short video to take a look at a simple KU band Satellite system. With this system, you'll have the abilities to view nearly 600 stations as well as 1000's of feeds and back hauls.
If you are expecting to see the lame main stream channels, you will not like this setup, but if you want to see some really neat stuff that you literally won't see anywhere else, this is a great hobby!
NOTE: I am not affiliated with any of the companies or products that I mentioned in this video. These are just eBay items that you can use to build a great setup. Also, check out Robbie Strike's RUclips channel as he has TONS of info on the hobby.

Good video on the breakdown of the cost to a free satellite TV setup. Still cheaper than a few months of pay TV. Had mine for years and don’t even want to go back to pay TV.

All I can think about is trying to figure out how to coat the inside of that dish with something reflective and smooth , and pull some wild eyed

my old glorystar receiver will not pick up but the gt signal meter will. is a 10 year old fta box still usable? g19 setup
Hey big guy here in a little bit down the road I was wondering if I can get out in touch with you and you can show me how to get all this stuff and get it hooked on to a travel trailer and show me what I need to get and I appreciate it
So the issue there would be the travel trailer. You can get Sat TV in it, but the dish must be mounted in a fixed spot. They do make ones for Direct TV that will auto locate a sat, but not for these FTA setups.

Being 2024 now, if you had to choose a receiver in the price ranges you mentioned, GTMEDIA, amiko, etc, what would you go with?

When aiming the dish to the south, do you need to take into consideration the magnetic north, true north declination, then go 180 degrees from that...? Thanks.
you do need to find your true south (not magnetic) and declination, those can be found by looking up you longitude and latitude online. Hope that helps

@@FarpointFarms it's a hilarious story in retrospect, my naivety. I should have seen the red flags. I was selling a BNIB Casio Cassiopea, and the buyer kept asking *very* standard fare for a business owner to answer but not a person. I was not set up as a business in any means, and he kept pushing "what is your return policy?"
Well, he bought it, I mailed it, and not a week later he reported it as not brand new in box(it very much was, I had HUNDREDS of time stamped pictures), it came damaged, etc. Old bait and switch is what he did. Anyway, he showed pictures of his broken Casio, because you don't accidentally buy these things, to Paypal and eBay claming that was the one I sent, and eBay and Paypal sided with him, took the money out of my bank account and I was in the red for nearly 3 months because of it.
So when I finally got back on my feet, I drove up to the adult store, bought the nastiest toy I could find, lubed it up with a sugar and salt solution so that it would stick and corrode whatever it touched, and a long winded note on how he could go french himself.
He immediately knew who it was from despite not leaving an address or clues as to identity. He filed a report with eBay and I called eBay customer service a bunch of see you next tuesdays for siding with a piece of trash scammer.

I have at times picked up feeds from fox news, but it's not a 24/7 feed. The g16 feed is from texas. Is it in the clear and runs 24/7. Great channel!
So is it possible to use existing dish? Like say from direct TV,

yes, they are not ideal and you would have to purchase a new LNB to make it work
