Who's Next for me, I've always been more of a Who fan so it's an album I always related to, Zeppelin four is sonically a perfect sounding album that almost takes you to somewhere you've never been to... Both great albums
I am a much bigger fan of Zep than I am of The Who, but that is my favorite Who album and I have listening fatigue these days with Zep 4. So, my choice is The Who. If you asked me any time before the last 15 years I would have said Zep.
Though I am a Who fan and really like Who's next, there is no need to do a track by track comparison here. Zeppelin IV is just too magical on every level.
Tough call indeed but I choose LedZep IV because it is just so magical and there are no weak spots anywhere. There are a few tracks on Who’sNext that I never care to hear again even though I once loved them. So yeah, LedZep for the win here too.
@@MrMojoRisin I've just finished listening to my complete Zeppelin CD collection (all the official albums) over the past 3 days and it was just amazing. It had been quite a while since I heard some of these (particularly the earlier albums), but all the memories came flooding back in from my youth (Zeppelin albums carry a lot of memories for me) and I just enjoyed every minute. One thing, though: I had really cheap stereo equipment in my teens (sometimes only a boom box), so I literally missed out on some of the intricacies of Page's production on these great albums. I have good stereo components and good speakers now and it is almost like hearing portions of these albums for the first time.
@@CalicoSilver That’s awesome, Jeff. It’s great that you got back in touch with their discography. Glad you like it as much as ever. What’s their best album in your opinion?
@@MrMojoRisin Physical Graffiti has always been my favorite, ever since it came out in 1975 and I carried it around in school telling everyone how great it was, haha! But objectively speaking I think I have got to choose IV as their "best" album. It is just perfect. I am somewhat of a weird Zeppelin fan in that I also love Presence and In Through the Out Door very much, whereas I don't care as much today for Houses Of the Holy or the debut album (like you've said a few times, the debut is a bit too slow-bluesy for my taste). Houses of the Holy is a great album that I loved dearly back then but my enthusiasm has not been retained as strongly for it as some of the other albums. I love III today even more than back then. The II album has super-strong nostalgic weight for me personally....some good and some bad memories....but it is a great album, better than the debut for me. I loved Presence immediately in 1976 and to this day I don't understand why people don't love it - so heavy with rocking guitars, it is great. Perhaps it is because I also love funky music, and Zep were pretty funky on their later albums. I bought In Through the Out Door on the day it was released and was initially disappointed but it has become one of my favorite Zep listens over time. Hahaha, how's THAT for a long answer?
I greatly respect Zeppelin for not only staying together and getting along during their active years, but for also deciding to end it when John died. They protected their legacy very well. I respect that.

I give Who's Next by a hair but Zep 4 is classic also
The Who for sure!

Yes, hard to deny.
Both great albums
Butt, my opinion, THE FOOKING WHO
Peter 1971 also had Sticky Fingers and L .A Woman
Yes, one of the strongest years for albums.

Thanks Jeff. It’s a tough call.
