I've got about 14 years experience tattooing and tattoo many different tattoo designs in different styles from Old School Traditional, Neo Traditional, Japanese, New School and Realistic. Drawing a tattoo design in a different style requires very different appoaches but lucky enough i break these down into easy to follow guides showing you how to draw old school, how to draw neo traditional/japanese etc is very simple steps and understanding how you did it and what makes them look that way.

You are a beast with your sketching and with procreate! I’m new to digital art so I’m always having a tough time with shading and coloring once I’ve finished my line work. I can never figure out how to set things up with masks and such in order to shade inside the lines and then add color so that the shading doesn’t get colored over! This really helped and I’m so grateful! Please make a vid showing ways to shade and color after outline is finished. It would help many! Cheers from Chicago.

So as something I struggle to do from traditional to digital in the same app ( especially with this style ) is finding the proper brush to use. I usually find that my brush is too pressure sensitive and I vary line weight too much so that it makes the style look shitty. Any advice?
When you shade with the reference thing on that just shades one part of your work, I can’t figure out how you do that. I follow everything but it doesn’t let me shade in certain tiny spots, it only shades in the whole section I selected. I also don’t have that circle thing when I push my stylus on the iPad, down. Can you help?

I tend to follow the main sketch then as soon as the outlines done I get creative and do my own thing, following tutorials is great but I wouldn't reccomend following it to a T, be a little creative man add your own flair to it too so it isn't the same 💚✌️

If you don't me asking: for someone wanting to learn to draw traditional designs to perhaps someday learn how to tattoo, would you recommend starting on paper or on tablet?
Either is fine, but ultimately if it’s to end up being a tattooist you will need to be able to do it on paper before you’ll be able to do it on skin as digitally it doesn’t replicate the same process ie not being able to erase, correction tools shading techniques etc

No prob its an ipad pro 12.9inch. For the ipad an ipad pencil, for paper I'd recommend unipin fine liners and copic markers or water paints

@@Itsmeolavi as long as the pen has palm touch technology then they are good. If not cant place your hand down to draw which is annoying so just make sure it has that. Will say on the info

i donrt think its that much of a skill to have a computer fixing and doing all the hard shit for you. kinda gets rid the person needing any real skill its a sad thing to see artists losing their true skills and giving all the creative tasks to the AI

personally can't stand Traditional style...seems it is for tattoo artists that don't have enough skill for realism. Am I wrong?
