Yes, i switched to the Canon EOS R5......Do you think I'm crazy?
i got R5 and its amazing! im with You ! :)
I have an R5 for portraits and a C70 for commercial video work and they are amazing but as soon as the Fuji medium format system catches up with its specs, AF, etc. I’m moving to Fuji... With the price drop coming in the GFX 50s ii it won’t be long... Keep both systems but IF Fuji can catch Canon in specs IM OUT!
@@MARZILLI Well, the 100s is on the way, I will probably do a comparison between the two. I love the GFX files....everything about them is amazing. It was the AF and video capabilities that had me going to the canon for my client work.
It depends of your needed
man they deleted the image stabilization on the eos r5c ! is it bad? i wanna eos r5c because of unlimited video recording
but was surprised about they deleted the image stabilisation
so i can use only the lenses whic have the stabilization
and compared to the nikon z9 wich dont have the mecanical shutter what you think wich will last more years
eos r5c or the nikon z9
i mean no mecanical shutter no issues and will last longer that the eos r5c
isnt it ? isnt it better ?
i switched from a 50R to the R5 and i just bought a 50S II and have both now. Missed those amazing photos too much, and I got a killer deal on the 50S II
The amount of times you bashed your cameras of the table was insane 🤣 Great video my friend, much love 🙏🙌☺️
You should see what it's like when I'm shooting. When I shoot with the local Fuji rep, he always chastises me...lol
Did you review the 100s? I'm considering 100s instead of my xh1 as a regular shooter for family photos etc, I find xh1 autofocus passable, is the 100s autofocus similar would you say? It would work for this use case? I love xh1 but trying to mitigate for when I look back in 30 years wishing I'd captured higher res when I had opportunity etc etc. Thanks
😃👍
Nice review. Thanks
Welcome to the club bro!!! Love my R5 and GFX50s paired. Also when are coming back to Va
it's a fantastic pairing
@@MDRFoto Yeah it is!!! I have both sitting on the desk now!!! doing a thorough cleaning
@@GabrielScindian I'm kind of excited for the 100s to get here. I ordered locally and they aren't super high on the list to receive things quickly. Luckily I'm not in a hurry to get it.
@@MDRFoto I will look out for you review!!! I am waiting to see what the Canon R3 does but am also looking at the 100s too
I'm interested in the high ISO comparison.
hey just wondering... how many batteries did you need that night where you shot 5000 images? im thinking to switch to canon, but when i see that i does 320 frames on one charge... thanks!
If I remember correctly, I used 1.5 batteries. I've been very impressed with the battery life of the R5
Use both and they balance each other out perfectly!
You can now get 50s ii now for 3500 ... I wonder whether you got the hundred because the '50s to is better in low light and like you said you don't need 100 megapixels 50 would have been the way to go with the Mark II I'm very curious which way you went in the end channel
Great video :) I loved my old 6D but like you say, canon have not really delivered anything of consequence till the R5 and R5C. I shot with the 1DX mkIII for a short while, but with all it's features, it so severely lacked the image quality I was looking for. My bench mark is my Hasselblad H series camera. Sony, as you say, is not a contender and the R5 or R5C look like the perfect companion camera for all those jobs the medium format cameras struggle with.
love this dude, just made the exact switch. the gfx was cool n all but it just wasn’t worth holding onto.
100% agree, it's an amazing camera, but it is a one trick pony
Why not get a battery grip for the R5. Makes it way more comfortable to hold for bigger hands.
And here is where I'm weird, I hate battery grips....I love the bodies of the 1D series, but hate add on battery grips. Weird I know lol
@@MDRFoto Sir, that makes zero sense 😂
@Noah Stephens Exactly
I wonder who has better image quality? GFX or R5? Is there a big difference in photo quality?
I actually like the image quality of the GFX better than the R5. It's a subjective opinion, but overall I feel that for stills, the GFX has better image quality. The majority of people who look at them side by side probably won't notice, but I do see a difference.
@@MDRFoto Thank you for answer. The GFX has a slow focus, so it cannot be used for fast action photography. Whereas the R5 has flash focus, which is why it is also used for fast action photography. And how does it compare for night photos at high ISO? Who has better quality in terms of noise?
Depend from your style. Many photographers are shooting in manual focus and films then, Fuji Medium Format is the best. If u need Af, eyes or face detection, Canon is the best.
Bout to do the same thing. Gfx50r super slow. Might replace with xt-4 lol.
I've had the X-T4 and you can't go wrong with that camera.
What lens are u using with r5?
I currently Have the RF 50 1.8, RF 35 1.8 Macro, RF 24-105 f4, EF to RF adapter, EF 85mm f1.2 L, and the Sigma 105 f1.4. I also have the RF 100mm F2.8 Macro L on preorder
@@MDRFoto Will sigma be worse than Canon in color? I also want to buy 105, thanks
@@user-yu7vo5zg6m No, not at all. I haven't noticed any difference in Color between lenses. The RF L series has a little better contrast, but that's easily fixable in Post. You won't be disappointed with the 105.
@@MDRFoto very thank!
I’m in love with my R5 but have sent it to Kolari Vision to have an aftermarket heatsink installed because of the overheating. It’s f&$!ing brutal. I shot 10 minutes of non-HQ 4k 60p on a hot day a few weeks ago and the camera overheated. 🤬
Otherwise, it’s an incredible camera. I’m hoping the new heatsink helps.
Interesting, I've shot the HQ 4K 120 a lot without any overheating issues. It was the one thing I was very worried about
@@MDRFoto dude, what!? That defies logic. First off, there is no “HQ” or non-HQ for the high frame rates.
Also, I can just shoot photos with my R5 and literally, LITERALLY watch the timer on the 4k 120p go down. All the way to zero zero : zero zero
Set custom shooting mode C3 in the video section to 4k 120p and during your photo shooting you can see how much time you get based on the internal heat. As the camera warms up, the timer gets lower - it starts at fifteen minutes.
@@TimothyGordon Sorry, miswrote that, just meant that. I'm just saying that with my personal experience, I haven't had any overheating issues with 4K 120 video during hybrid shoots. I'm headquartered out of Houston (brutal heat and humidity) and haven't run into any overheating since I purchased the camera almost 2 months ago. I'm not saying it doesn't do that, just that I haven't experienced it yet.
But, since I do have to rely on the camera not to overheat, and I do have some very important and long hybrid shoots coming up for clients during the hottest part of the summer, I'll definitely look into the Kolari Vision heat sink. Thank you for sharing that bit of information.
@@MDRFoto you will run into overheating. I’d recommend checking out Gerald Undone or the Deaf Director. Both have examples of what overheats the camera, how fast and recovery times.
You’ll want to be armed with that information before you go into a shoot in the heat for sure. I’d love to see you cover it in a video, maybe show some behind the scenes of how you do a hybrid shoot! Your work is awesome.
I think each of these two cameras are meant for a different type of photographer. R5 is a high spec'd dependable workhorse camera, but 50R is more of a photographer's camera that will force you work slower, think more before you take the shot.
Now u rent gfx 100 2 u can find out if ure earning r 5 best otherwise 100 2 I think medium format is slow focus or still they have to improve I don't know anything regarding camera anyhow I am sure purchasing fujifilm medium format 100 2 image quality and colour science
I would say in my opinion that Fuji colours are nicer and if I was you I would have just bought a Fujifilm nice and small and light and two bodies is always convenient for a backup anyway because that's what I do I have three different cameras and all three have a different purpose I have a Fiji gfx 50s ii... I have a Nikon d850 for sports for video and general photography work actually think it's smarter to have different cameras for different jobs instead of trying to find the perfect one camera I haven't seen anything match the Fujifilm colour science
Action camera vs Studio/Landscape camera. Apples vs Oranges...
Well, seeing as how I use them for the same purpose, mostly advertising and portraiture, it's not really comparing apples to oranges.
who needs 5000 photos?I dont even have the time to go through 5000 photos. I think the r5 is the better camera and probably leeds to better shots in many situations, but the image quality is better on the gfx.
No one needs 5000 photos, it was a fun experiment to see how well the 20 fps and the autofocus worked together. My normal shot count is like 3% of that (if it’s even that much). As far as the cameras, I’m glad we agree. The GFX is an image beast! The look is sooooo good. But as I said, business has changed and v the client demand for videos has increased. It was a business decision, if i were to choose solely on Image Quality, it would be the GFX
I think there’s some dust on your R5
Not 1.6. Fuji has 1.7 times bigger sensor’
Thanks for correcting me on that
Definitely a paid Canon shill. He probably rented the GFX just to criticize it.
hahahaha, thank you, that is a huge compliment. To think I was a big enough name to be paid by canon or anyone else to push a specific camera.
You could have save so much money if you could have think about what kind of photography you do. Gfx50s is not for action and video work, i have the 50s and i would not trade it for any camera because my type of work doesn’t need high action work or low light photography. The 50s is for a high quality still photography, so the autofocus was great. For image quality the 50s will beat and fullframe dslr anyday.
That's exactly what I said. My main work when purchased the 50S years ago was high resolution still images. But, as the lockdown lifted, I started to get more requests for video and more action. You pretty much just agreed with me on why I switched (though I still use the 50S quite often)
The R5 is the better all-round camera, the biggest weakness for me with the GFX cameras are the lenses - no real wide angle and no telephoto. Even if the GFX 50 Mark II now gets IBIS, it doesn't solve the lens problem for me. The GFX will only become interesting for me when they offer the "holy trinity" of lenses. But only if you don't need video functionalities. The photo quality is really great in this segment.
That's part of the reason I started adapting lenses. The ability to have a larger selection of lenses far outweighed any AF performance issues I experienced
I agree a high end FF might be a better all around camera specifically you need telephoto past around 300mm or real fast AF. Plus the FF has the ability to go from 24-105 in one lens and best GFX has is 35-80 f/3.2 equivalent which for me personally is a negative of the system. It really needs a tilt shift, f/4 wide zoom to round out the trinity (the 32-64 and 100-200 are the other two in the trinity). and maybe even a telephoto zoom at f/4 depending on how huge and heavy it would have to be . But to say it has no real wide angle and no real telephoto is simply incorrect. It has 18mm, 24mm, 25mm, 35mm equivalent wide coverage and telephoto out to the equivalent of 198mm, 277mm with the 1.4 teleconverter which losses so little sharpness there is no reason to even think about it. Plus if you have the 100 or 100s another thing to consider is that you can crop in 75% and still have 25 MP at a very high IQ to work with. But you're saying 18mm FF equivalent isn't wide and nearly 300mm FF equivalent is not "real" telephoto. I doubt many photographers would agree with that assessment. Plus the pro cameras in the GFX line up, the GFX 100 and 100S, do have very good video capabilities. If you need better, you probably need a real video camera not a hybrid system.

It is worth mentioning that in the next update we will be presented 20-35 f4, 55 f1.7 and Tilt Shift
@@thephenom6327 Yeah those lenses are on the road map, which is subject to change, but calling it "the next update" is disingenuous. The 20-35mm is on the road map for "2022" but with no details as to even in what quarter of 2022 and the rest are for 2023 again with no mention of when in 2023. Nor is there any mention of what focal length the tilt shift will be. Plus one thing it also needs that I forgot about is a true macro lens, meaning at least 1:1 magnification. The current 120 only 1:2 meaning no mater what Fuji wants to call it, it's not a macro lens. The GF lens line up could also really use a 32(or at least 35)-100mm lens. Even if it has to be f/5.6 and/or variable aperture due to size and weight concerns. The whole point of the GFX system is that it is MF that can be used largely in the same way as 35mm/ASP-C cameras. As in more hand held, run gun style. When using a camera in that way a 24/28-short telephoto range zoom is invaluable and ends up being most used lens for the majority of users. Fuji is working on rounding out the lens lineup for GFX but they still have quite a long way to go. Maybe in 2025 it will have the lenses it needs to really be a complete system that you dont' feel like you're giving up anything in the lens department vs 35mm or ASP-C systems.
@@josh885 Absolutely right, but you shouldn't compare them to full frame, medium format is a different philosophy. Concerning lenses, I'm quite satisfied with 20-35+55+100-200 kit, it covers 100% of landscape tasks, but I agree that a universal tripod, something like 32-90 is also necessary.
It seems like you bought the gfx because it was expensive. You didn’t know what to do lol
Are you sure we haven't dated in the past? all my ex's said I didn't know what to do as well.
I shoot canon r5 and my Sony a7riv is collecting dust. Sony files are way better, more information, but the files are so large. Solution….r5 goes with me to events Sony a7riv stays home for portraits and studio work.
Last two Sony cameras I had was the A7rIII and A7IIIm both were too small for my hands lol....But they do produce some amazing files
I have had Sony A7r3 and R4 , sold all of them and now loving and enjoying R5 . I totally disagree that Sony files are better than R5 . Canon is way better in terms of rendering.
