Me a 34 year old man all I can say is this great cruising in the car music. Mellow music that makes you think. Yes i like heavy metal, classic metal, 90's rock and rap, also early 00's. But the 50's and 60's jams hold a place in my heart.
That "Oooooh Giiirrrlll" is absolutely legendary! Everyone knows it. Even ppl that dont kno the song or who sings it recognizes that "oh girl" when they hear it. It has been used in so many shows n movies thru the years that everyones heard it at least once and nobody forgets it. So beautiful. They dont make music like they used to thats for sure.
You got that right; 50 years later they DON’T make music like this anymore, but they SHOULD. Such music and songs really should make a comeback, partly for old times’ sake.
Thirteen years old when this song hit the radio waves, in 1972. I would have entering high school. Miss those days, so long ago! Miss my folks. And my sisters.
@@kelliday2920 Your dad has good taste. I grew up with this music . 1972, I was 16 and remember it like it was yesterday. Can even remember where I was when I heard it.
I graduated from high school in May 1972. By August, this song had become my mantra because I had fallen hard for a girl. Navigating the emotions and the actions & words of love, commitment, and a sustained relationship made a hot mess of me and I found the commiserating spirit of this song to be a good place to hide out and salve my wounded heart.
Bro that’s the classic love right there. I wish I was born in your year, but I was born in 2002. And when this song came on the radio it reminded me of my highschool years also how I fell in love with a girl
Another here 1972 fell hard in love we broke up. This was such a sad song it reminded me of him at the time. First love, the good old days, broken heart and all.
I work in assisted living. Something I learned early on is music is something you will never forget! Even residents in memory care will remember the lyrics to their favorite songs from their 20’s! You’ll be able cherish this song for a long time :)
Sopranos led me 2 this time n Jesus Christ almighty it’s off the chart, music nowadays cannot compare 2 these types of timeless classics, news flash 2 the new generation of music lovers, of u can’t appreciate the past u have now way 4ward in listening 2 this shit they produce now, old is gold n that’s coming from some1 in their 30’s who only listens 2 music that is filled with heart n soul that can’t b surpassed!
Happy 50th anniversary to this great song! It was released right around this time in 1972(May 2022 as I post my comment.) Here’s to another 50 years for this song!
1972 was a great year to be alive if you weren't in Vietnam. This song was so powerful it spoke to a 16 year old kid who hadn't yet experienced the world but understood loneliness and isolation of loss.
Thinking back to 1977 Spandau,West Berlin. I loved to listen to AFN (American Forces Network) radio station in the late evening, where this song was often played. Strange how music, at least for me,can be a Tardis, allowing me/us to travel and revisit places and people as we remember them and so washing away all that that stands between..John Barrie wrote: God gave us memory so that we can have Christmas in July.
The words of this song mean more to me now than ever. Have always loved it, but the words perfectly sum up my thoughts and feelings since my wife died three years ago and the pain and feelings of deep loss will never, ever go away.
Loved this girl so much man broke my heart. kind and caring and way more reasonable than me and that is rare for the few girls I've been with. wavey hair Light skin big thighs squinty eyes freckles and dimples. Girl of my dreams. Her hateful parents didn't like me though and her dad beat me up and told me not to contact her again and they warned to disown her if she ever contacts me again. We didn't wanna leave each other she chose her family over me in the end and I wanted to hate her so bad for that but really I respect it because family comes first and she wasn't ready to say goodbye to her family and come live with me for good.
Playing this song out here in Somalia... Am in the mountains... Thinking about you sweetheart... I might be a simple soldier... But am out hea serving my country... Otherwise i would spend every minute of my life with you my love...
Being a young teenager in love right now/ going through a break up, oldies like these brings me comfort. Some may say that's weird, but I've always been an old soul even though I'm young in this life. Lol.
When it comes to music, age doesn’t matter! If it brings you comfort enjoy it!! You will experience heartbreaks throughout your life and if it’s songs like this that get you through them that’s okay. So god to see that these “oldies” bring comfort and joy to a much younger generation! Best of luck to you in the coming years!
KILLER SONG!! reminds me of tha hs days, one of tha skool librarians used 2 play this on field trip buses from his ipod, he liked a lot of OLD SKOOL R&B just like i do:)
Most have no idea that love like this exists, others die looking for it, and a select few will live it, we were fortunate and experienced it, we met at 15 & 17, we spent 30 years together, until c hit in 2011, in 2013 she lost the battle, but we will say our souls live on and there is much more to our story. Thank you Mikee n Alicia
@@MS-nb9vg Im so sorry for your loss. Just like you, I also met the One when we were 16, but in 2011, after 20 years of marriage (24.5 together) she lost her battle to cancer. If I could turn back time to a place in history I could control, it would be 2011 after her death. You see, a bullet to my own head and I would have peace and we would be together for eternity and not have to have hope in a world where love no longer overcomes everything. As for another taking my Love's place, they obviously do not make women like that anymore. Or, maybe I took my own life and this is Hell?!
Apart from the great stories and acting, the songs used on the sopranos made it an amazing series. Chicken town is my second favourite song/ending scene after the chi lites.
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my fave uncle 10 years ago and still miss him just as much. I don't miss him less, I've just learned how to cope a bit better I guess.

Not one word of profanity, just a remorseful heart asking for another chance. It's sad how many relationships were lost coz folks just don't know what to say or can't seem to find the right words & be genuine about it.
this is a funny song but it's so reality! because those telling u to be hip are either jealous or don't have a woman & will get at her & help change the locks!!! LqL!!!!!

the harmonica just brings the whole song together

It's The most under rated instrument of all time. It's amazing here
To me this is one of the best uses of harmonica in a song ever. Neil Young's 'Thrasher', is close though.
