At 8:50, good footage of the hydraulic that I think makes that section so dangerous. KE may have touched on this. There is micro eddy below, possibly a spot to set safety?
Yeah, it was crazy in that one rapid but in all the harder rapids everyone styled it crazy sometimes it's the ones you don't except to cause all the trouble
This is an edge of the seat masterclass in kayaking skills, safety and rescue and camraderie. The river flow itself looks insane 😄 Brilliant to watch and learn
It was awesome, don't feel so bad about my own swims now, can happen to anyone! That manoeuvre at 5.17 with the guy caught in tree, telling him to shift weight and lean on bow was genius!
That was the real deal. Well captured. Any paddler would be fortunate to have you running safety. It looked like no one was immune to the danger (except you). I can’t wait to see Pete’s video. He’ll probably say… ‘Unfortunately, my GoPro died before this…’.
Definitely not immune to it myself my last swim was pretty epic I got folded up inside a 13’ long boat at go left rapid I was sure I was a goner and I’m sure he will have a 3hour video breaking down everything from air temp to the under water rock formations why this happened 😂
Looks like Pete earned his swimmer bell sticker on this run! 😂 Glad you guys record all this, because this is WAY beyond my capabilities, but I do love to see it.
Yeah it is a shallow ledge there alot of good kayakers have had their fair share of beatings there and the swims go for awhile in that spot not much you can really do…
KARMA: "How many swim bells are we going to get for that one Pete!" 😂 No worries it happens to all kayakers at some point. I need to remember that myself so I'll push myself more, because there is undeniably a little shame with every swim. Love both you guys' channels, keep sending it. Maybe one day I'll paddle with y'all on some river.
Grand skills and technique. Loved the gentle shove to help the swimmer get to the shore after you gave him his paddle. Can you share which paddle you had that day? Great video as always
I remember like it was yesterday, the first "everyone" release in 2005. Day long yard sale. Story goes they let out way too many CFS of water for the "Class IV" boater. Had several friends do the right thing and walk out. Ahh that day in '05!
Hey Wade, Any thoughts on which paddle you prefer gpower or lettmann after using them both for some time now? if you could only choose 1 which would it be?
Guy who pinned on the tree got lucky you were close by. I've only ran the Cheoah twice. It was the first weekend they started releasing it again over a decade ago. The trees were scary then and everywhere!
Wade I was wondering if with your experience the alpha 90 would be a better call than the 75. I am 185 and 5'9. Currently paddling a remix 69. Thanks for the great videos and product tests!
I agree with wade. I'm 175 and paddled the 90 all year. Just got the 75 and it's soooo much better for me. I feel like I can actually maneuver the boat now.

Yes that’s a sneaky one and I knew it as soon as I dropped in it not a easy ledge to get out of…
You couldn't organize a river cleanup day that effective! Good job Wade.

You’re a boss on the river. Love the videos.
Thanks buddy always do whatever to help someone in need..
hey man! I have fun and I feel the whitewater feeling when I see your videos! Great job!
Glad you like them!
@@WadeHarrison what do you recommend to record videos with some kind of elevator to the go pro? I have seen before but I dont know de name.

It was running at the best level there was some rain that brought it up glad I got that last lap in before the end of the year

Absolutely cool vid Wade.
Was fun day everybody was good
I love your intros! "That was your fault Jacob."🤣

Man that was a hell of a lap ! Glad Pete didn’t get hurt 🤙🏼
Yeah was all fun just some random happenings

@@WadeHarrison as the saying goes, "we're all between swims." Just looking at it I know I would have been swimming more than I'd be paddling hahaha

Pete’s awesome such a good dude to be around in general in and off the river…
Dang! That was eventful. Good on ya for running so much effective rescue!
"That was your fault, Jacob" 🤣🤣🤣 lol
I just knew he was going to blame me for telling him to cross bow in that swirling eddy
Grand skills and technique.

I’m using the Gpower Twister Creek in this video

Aww good times
I don't know about you, but I would have been worn out after all those rescues, Well Done Sir, Well Done!
Was definitely a busy day and did boat review on the Gnarvana in between this 😂
Hey Wade, Any thoughts on which paddle you prefer gpower or lettmann after using them both for some time now? if you could only choose 1 which would it be?
I like both a lot the Lettman feels more durable and the Gpower feels like it has more down river power and is a lot lighter
Guy who pinned on the tree got lucky you were close by. I've only ran the Cheoah twice. It was the first weekend they started releasing it again over a decade ago. The trees were scary then and everywhere!
Yeah the left side has a bad tree across the main line need to get in there and remove that
Whooo! Was a sick day, even with the beater fest haha!
Yeah everyone was good so always turns out to be good day
You need to edit in the swim bell ! Pete is awesome infectious laugh!
😂 you almost did I sent him some of this footage so he will have a 3 hour video out of it so there will be some good bells for him there I’m sure 🤩
@@WadeHarrison 😀
I did not know that Pedro, I mean Pete, will have to rename that area Pedro 's Falley 🤣🤫
Lol Pedro doing little swimdro

Yes, No one under 220 needs to be in the alpha 90!
@@WadeHarrison thank you for the insight brother. Greatly appreciated!

dude, would love to se a review of alpackaraft valkyrie, that boat looks sick
If they send me one i would test one I’m not in the market to buy one but definitely would like to try one even a demo
Do you think you will continue to use the Pyranha Scorch or swith to the Gnarvana?
The scorch smokes the Gnarvana so answer your question No
but the Gnarvana is a really good boat
What river/creek is this?
The Cheoah River in North Carolina USA
"Those ledge holes looked smaller on youtube" :)
I know right 😂
Carrrrnaggeeee day lol
Just slightly 😎
Damn!! Talk about carnage.
Yeah it came on quick but in the actual Harder rapids everyone was styling
Nice work!
Thanks It was a Fun Day!
How many swimmers in all? I had a rough time that day too. 🤣🤣🤣
in this crew 3 would have been 4 but got the dude off the tree quick
Oh boy
lol oh boy was right
Are you there Jacob who was at fault?
😂😮😉
@@paksaokayaking4234 Wade he made the water steal my paddle when I flipped
🤟🏽🤣🤟🏽
@@yakob.simpson hhahaha you were shocked by the sight of Pete there you just flipped out from what I seen
Have you seen this one? Keep an eye out for a special swimmer 🔔 😂
😂 yeah was crazy day that’s for sure!
This was dramatic lol 😂
yeah, I was thinking a chill day for last lap of 2022, but it happens.
@@WadeHarrison getting beatered on the cheoah is expected getting beatered in a pool is legend lol my rib is ffff’d

If you rescue the River King does that make you the River King?
🤔technicalities apply river king can mean the king of swimming the river or paddling the river so he double up this day 😎👑
😮
yeah exactly
What was that? A cluster what?
😂 it was interesting 🧐
Lots of rookie maneuvers lol
hahahha yeah it happens
