The Recobbled Cut But Zig Zag Has To Be On Screen (Read Description)

- Before you accuse me of copying Shaney The Great's video, let me explain. I personally think Shaney's video could use some work, he didn't really use shots where Zig Zag was partially in them, and he zoomed in on on Zig Zag in shots where he is a little far away, causing his video to only be 5 minutes. However, and this should not be taken as an attack on Shaney, I have counted the exceptions to his rules and made a video where it is carefully timed to count every single frame Zig Zag is on screen. I hope you understand. And if you really want to, I unintentionally made Zig Zag say "Walk in gay" here, so if you really want to hear that, here is the time code: 3:50. Also I messed up here: 6:55-6:59 The Thief And The Cobbler made by Richard Williams, The Recobbled Cut By Garrett Gilchrist.

If youve ever wondered why Ziz Zag is always hunched over its because he's carrying the entire movie on his back.
He's got five fingers not including the thumb, and an extra knuckle on each, even the thumb. It's an expression of his skill in manipulation, and does a very good job of it in my opinion, very spider-like.
I’d like to believe Zigzag has tampered with dark magic so much that caused him to be as animated as he is
Perhaps that's how he got his sixth fingers too.
it certainly made him a boob head
And why he talks in rhyme
Fallen angels are dicks.
It's why he has the feet.
Now the real question does his feet actually roll up and down like his shoes
They might be controlled by magic
I think he might be a octopus in human form
I mean he’s already blue so, something’s going on with him
Saw it when I was little, if I remember right he steps on some nails with the tip of his foot as it unroll, so I assume his feet are like that.
He even has 6 digits on each hand so him being an octopus or a magic being in general doesnt seem so strange
This whole movie wouldn't have happened if his servants laid down the carpet a little faster.
Think he’d just lift it up with his foot all the same.
There are three certainties in life:
Death
Taxes
And Vincent Price saying, "My friends!"
Its such a shame this film wasn't fully finished. Its got some of the most beautiful and mesmerizing hand-drawn animation I've ever seen
That’s EVER been seen.
Thats why it never got finished. The animation was so in-depth and perfect that it was just too much work for the team. In any animated movie, you have what is called "the money shot" (all jokes aside). This is the scene where you have insane animation quality to really capture your audience, typically in a main song, like the "are you ready" song from princess and the frog, or "be prepared" from lion king.
But, every shot was given the same care as the money shot, so it got expensive FAST. In the scene where zig zag moves cards around, they animated each of the 52 individual cards in a real deck. Insane
They spent too much time working on unimportant scenes while ignoring the major ones. They should have done it the other way around
@@alexzander7386 What? The whole story behind this movie is that it didn’t get finished because Disney sent some thugs to burn down this guy’s studio after he already had it completely finished. That’s why Aladdin was released and this wasn’t. I mean, it was, some gutted pissant little version designed to die upon release.
@@driggledraggle7702 I saw it in the theater as a kid… Had no idea wtf I was watching-but the little mime cobbler was unforgettable.
This movie was quite literally the peak of animation and framerates. I know THIS many frames usually isnt necesary, but it is depressing how we'll probably never have a lot of animation frames in creative projects due to a bad economy.
3:50 "men are fools, who walk in Gay"
Indeed

Vincent Price saying loudly the phrase *"Now that I have the BALLS !"* is amazing.
The mere fact that he saw it, read it and then performed it is just astounding to me :D
Price was a master of his craft. I don't think we'll ever get someone like him again.
Zig Zag > Jafar
Jafar + Genie = Zig Zag
@@MrWhatdafuBOOM *do you mean......oh god-*
@@NAZRULISLAM-kz6yc It's actually suspected Disney's Alladin got it's 'inspiration' from this. So.
Zigzag has far more swagger.
@@Davidofthelost Zig Zag legitimately creeps me out,
7:55 When you finally built the courage to ask your boss for a raise
I love this guy, 10/10 villain, its hard to imagine that this is the same voice as ratigan
the raw and unbridled irony that he is done in not by a hangman, or the cobbler he had so much beef with, but by the pets he had no beef for. starved his vulture so much it became a dinosaur, he is not a good pet owner.
definitely not, through the WHOLE MOVIE he keeps mentioning how he forgot to feed Fido, while mistreating him on top
I love how ZigZag just rhymes his sentences
This actually really helps because now we’ll know how much screen time Zig Zag really gets.
1:38 Always loved how he just started to wander off like a bug out of a cup lol
I can smell his breath when he says "Mombasa" :(
1:45 I adore that face, is so strange and full of grace
Zig Zags hands confuse me. How many joints does his fingers have???? His palms.. are they just really tiny????
The extra finger not upsetting you?
@@burntgrahamcracker2866 the WHAT
@@MadNinjaGirl he has 6 fingers on each hand
He was purposefully designed to be unsettling. Extra fingers. Extra finger joints. He even has extra elbows.
Meanwhile his feet must be snakes to curl like that.

some irony there.

Same here
“Yesss 💅”
That’s Vincent Price for you
👎 Pointing with your finger
👍Pointing with your shoe
I love the detail of Zigzag having six fingers on each hand, since he uses magic
Zig Zag is the product of a one night stand between Jafar and Genie, no question.
11:20 This animation goes so hard honestly
9:17 oh come one. you cut the best part!
*I am taking my BALLS-*
8:12 never fails to make me laugh 😂
If Genie and Jafar did fusion dance and zig zag come out of it
R.i.p Vincent Price His last role of this movie.
In an alternate timeline this movie would've been finished and given a Blu-Ray 4K re-release by now
You know, after seeing this movie for the first time in my life (cobbled cut), I kept wanting to see more of this villain and loved every small second of his scenes. His animation is so pleasing to the eye and I can see why this film was in production for so long.
2:03 Powerful words.
i like the wording of the title. he simply MUST be on screen
I get Zig Zag's mission though. I'd want Yum Yum too
"THEY COPIED MY WHOLE FLOW WORD FOR WORD BAR FOR BAR," - The Thief and the Cobbler on Aladdin
I hope to have the same amount of dignity when I go as the homey ZigZag did. Rhyming and everything. "Oh my bottle, oh my top".
He looks like if Jafar fused with Genie with the voice of Ratigan 😂
Btw he should be aching by carrying this movie with them broad shoulders.
This show is impossibly awkward, and impossibly compelling.
I love the way this guy moves and how animated he is, so nice. And those chompers are very nice
Now I just wish that he had as many admirers as Tack

Oh yea my blue boy~💙💙💙
Him and Tack are my favourites

He's the one that didn't wait for the rug to get rolled out first....
They never do explain why he is the only one that spoke in rhyme. xD I had figured that maybe it's because he needs to in order to retain his powers or something, so it's almost like a curse, where he's compelled to do so.
I suspect he started doing it to add to his mysticism, but then he did it so often it turned into a tic.
Then again _talking_ appears to be his main magic trick, judging by the situations he can rhyme himself out of...
2:03 this shits hilarious to me, the way he moves, the way you can tell this was from some video they recorded for reference probably
This animation is great lol. I keep seeing new things to be inspired by. Also, zigzag is absolutely a physical and spiritual mix of Jafar and Genie from Aladdin ahhaha
From the animation quality being clean and having bright colors i'd watch this movie in a heartbeat
The movie was never finished because the animation was too high-quality.
@enderknight39 sorta? There’s a lot more too it then that, though

I miss the old original Times Square layout with the flow of traffic both on 7th ave and Broadway.
Just realised zigzag has 6 fingers in each hand
Not even joking but ZigZag used to creep me out as a kid when I saw this movie. But now I think he’s such a beautifully animated villain thanks to Richard Williams’ animation and Vincent Price’s voice acting.
It's look jafar he being scoundrel from Disney's Aladdin
8:00 That laugh, that damned laugh. Vincent Price is uncopyable.
Hang on, how come it's taken me this long to realise Zigzag has five fingers and a thumb on each hand? He has 6-digit hands.
I suppose his blue skin and rolling feet aren't that odd after all.
In my headcanon Zigzag is a distant relative to Gruntilda the witch.
Nephew twice removed. In places where witches and wizards are blue instead of green.

What is this film?
It’s basically life long project made by Richard Williams, which was then seized from him before completion and turned into a Disney-Esque musical. However, fans have attempted to make a version that is closer to the original vision, which is what I used in this video
Is this Vincent Price?

That’s because he ended up sort of inspiring the Genie, as the animator who worked on the Genie (Eric Goldberg) was an animator at Richard William’s studio!
