7 weeks in KRUGER - Lost in Kruger Episode 10 FINALE! (4K)

  • After 7 incredible weeks traveling North to South in Kruger National Park, our trip unfortunately comes to an end! We start this week in Berg en Dal, take my mom and sister for a walk amongst Buffalo, find a gorgeous old Tom Leopard, have a farewell party in Skukuza, have an incredible Green Wood Hoopoe sighting, and then we redo our journey in the opposite direction heading North up the Park, and we say good bye to one of the most special places in the world.
    It's been a life changing journey, I truly hope that life takes us to a place where we can spend 7 weeks (or more) in one of the greatest safari destinations on the planet. We were so blessed with the sightings we have had, and I don't think a couple of days or a long weekend in the park will ever feel right again.
    Then since the trip, the editing has been intense. If I were to guess I would say each episode is probably about 20-40 hours of editing, literally. I have never put anything like this together on RUclips, and let me tell you, I have even more respect for RUclips creators! I set myself the goal of posting weekly, and didn't quite hit it, but still stuck in a couple of hundred hours behind my MacBook Pro while we were still on the road. I've edited everywhere from rough camping spots in the middle of nowhere, to 5 star lodges overlooking the Indian Ocean. I have learnt so much, and can not wait to apply it to our next series! I'll also be making some videos soon about the more technical stuff I have learnt, stuff that hopefully will save me (and you) hundreds of hours of work.
    Due to the success of this series, we've had some unbelievably generous sponsors come on board for Lost in Mozambique, notably iKamper, Gobi-X, SAC Kyalami, and LaCie, as well as a handful of other sponsors. All of which incredibly believe in what we are doing, and have helped us pimp Jabari out even further than I could have imagined. Our next episode will be all about the modifications we have done pre Mozambique. All the support is so so so appreciated, to have people put their money where their mouth is and support what we are doing, is just the most unbelievable feeling. We are so grateful!
    Speaking of the next series though, Lost in Mozambique is already happening, and we have 6 episodes in the bag from our first month in Moz. We briefly came back to JHB to get some work done and top up the bank accounts to keep Jabari full of diesel, and we head back to Mozambique soon for hopefully another 3 months. There's less game for the most part, but we have already had some incredible underwater encounters, and we spent two weeks exploring the remote area in and around the Maputo Special Reserve. We also run into some major problems with Jabari after a shockingly negligent installation done by Front Runner in Kyalami, but more on that soon.
    I hope you guys enjoy the episode, and as always, thank you so much for the support! I am in the process of setting up a Patreon to help keep us on the road, but in the mean time if you want to support the channel, please hit the like button and share share share! We love doing this, and believe we can make a real difference, Overlanding with Purpose, so hopefully we find a way of making it sustainable.
    (Oh please also check out the 4K version, as we're in JHB I got to really flex on quality, and it is beautiful!)
    Tim Hulme

    A quite simply stunning series .A back injury has kept me pretty well confined to the floor for the last 7 months and your adventures have helped me get through.2 operations later and I am now up and about.It was fitting that your finale coincided with me starting to get a bit mobile .Whilst all the animals are special and I know you are in love with the painted dogs but I just feel it is a real privilege to be close to leopards .I have a trip planned for next February to Kgalagadi just hope Covid restrictions allow this to happen .

Being bedridden myself, I completely get it when you say Tim's Kruger series has helped you through it. INDEED! Each video brought me so much joy and adventure, it's as if I'm back in Kruger, and traveled with Tim, al the way from my bed here on the other side of the world - Taiwan. I trust you'll be back in Kruger on equally extensive trips and even longer. You've given us Kruger on a whole new level. You've elevated that which many of us already had on the top of our most favorite places and experiences - You've elevated Kruger! We appreciate you, Tim, and Bianca. Oh sounds amazing, did you have many sightings? It's a nightmare when it gets busy, but I suppose everyone just wants to have a great experience. Oh well hopefully you both get to do the month in Satara, I'm sure you could make an amazing video! I spent about a week in Satara and seen absolutely nothing (apart from impala!) @@jasonpurvis88 ah that’s really unlucky sorry, satara is normally really good to us! Loads of lions in that area! Not sure if it's just me. Is the background "music" really necessary??????
    I found it soooooooo irritating that I couldn't watch past 5 minutes.
    Pity, the camera work, the subject, the idea, the setting are all stunning.
    Would LOVE to watch the whole series but worried that it'll also have the same inane jangling sound bombing noise.
    My apologies for the negative comment but truly feel that it does absolutely nothing to enhance your otherwise spectacular video.

    • @LostinAfrica
      @LostinAfrica  3 года назад

      Sorry you feel that way! Sound design has been one of the biggest area's of learning for me, and although I think I've got better, I know I have a long way to go. The difficulty is that the ambient sound on camera is normally the engine of my car or other spectators watching (the reality of filming like this as a normal tourist), or in the case of slomo there is no sound recorded at all, so it is tricky. I am trying to record more ambient sound everywhere we go, so I have something to use instead of music. I hope you still give the rest of the series ago, and know I am learning as fast as I can!
