The finale is quite a spectacle. This one was pretty good too...
Executive producers typically put their own money in or are responsible for bringing in more capital on the front end...so they do get reimbursed on the back end for that contribution...however much of the time when actors double as EPs, it is because they want to have a bit more creative control morseo than a bigger piece of the money pie. If you put up your own money to help fund the project, you get to be in the rooms when things are discussed. Think of it kinda like being a major shareholder in a company...versus someone who just works for the company. You both have reason to want to make things successful, but the shareholder gets invited into rooms where decisions are made that will impact the worker. On a project that means something to an actor, they would rather have a say in things instead of someone with money deciding "wouldn't it be cool if in the finale we found out that it was aliens?" and suddenly finding themselves acting in a production that has changed dramatically from the one they signed on to do.
