Bach's strength was that he left room for interpretation and we see this again with this 18-year-old Ignas Maknickas who, completely from memory, takes all the space that this fantastic piece of music leaves to the performer.

J.S.Bach said, "The aim and the final reason of all music should be nothing else but the glory of God and the refreshment of the human spirit". So why then do so many performances of this concerto bore me? My favourite performance of BWV 1052 had been the one by polina osetinskaya until i heard ignas maknickas highlight and emphasize ONE note(16:45), which convinced me of the superiority of this performance. On rare occasions a seemingly insignificant DETAIL can make an entire performance feel whole and complete, as is the case here with ignas. Both polina and ignas also correctly understand the RHYTHMS and the DRAMA of this music coupled with pianistic virtuosity...surely The Most High God is glorified and our spirits are refreshed when listening to these performances of, in my opinion, the greatest of all keyboard concertos. christos yannakou, a son of man...

Wow I like the way this kid plays .He's "inside" the music. completely gone out of his body.

I agree. It's a joy to watch him play. In the 1st mvt I love the way he moves, and sway, and looks around. He obviously enjoys playing certain note patterns and passages. He is so connected to this piece. This is a wonderful performance.

I do think the music is flowing like a 'bach'
