If Paul ever does a followup video, I hope he gives you credit for pointing out these correct details as you clearly have answered the main question he asked himself. Great analysis.
Thank you Alberto! Sei uno che sa il fatto suo, spieghi bene e hai un gran tiro. Mi esercito su Pride and joy da 3 anni, per hobby. Per me questo è oro chitarristico. You rock man
Fantastic video Alberto. Paul and yourself have made such great contributions to the memory of SRV. Thanks for helping us understand them. Ciao Paisano!
Absolutely stellar. Davids is an amazing all arounder but this is from a guy who studies SRV in great deatail. Even with the mechanics down perfectly, still no one is able to quite sound like SRV. That Alo e puts SRV in a unique class. There are guys who are fabulous at Clapton and Knopfler, and Knopfler is tough, but no one sounds exactly like SRV. We are likely talking about one thousandths of a second difference, but the human ear can easily discern the difference in sound. Still, this guy is genius!!
Thank you for the thoughtful comment John. Of course nobody will ever sound like anybody else, and nobody should even try that. We just want to learn from these masters and then create our own path. But the more accurate we are in understanding them, the more we can absorb of their genius.
Alberto it’s ok to think and hear differences! Paul’s good no doubt but on this you are dead on! Stevie was about the muted shuffle and much like Tommy Emmanuel he adds dynamics to keep the audience interested. I’m glad as always to watch another video. Gracias mi Hermano! Ciao Ciao
Another great video Alberto. I love your style and the fact that you keep Stevie’s music alive through your videos. You may have thought of this already but with the three notes you solo’d in Pro Tools, did you try analyzing them with Melodyne in polyphonic mode? Just a thought. Thanks for all the brilliant playing and videos!
Thanks for your kind words! I prefer to trust my ear, and what I hear is the strings ringing a bit because of the distortion. Analyzers could pick up those ringing as notes. Thanks again 🎸💛
I think what Paul pointed out what he played in the studio may have changed when playing live. I seen Stevie twice to keep that work load up night after after night must have been demanding to say the least it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he played it differently live to ease his work load. I'll give it to you, you've for the circular movement absolutely nailed that it ain't easy.
Ciao & thanks Alberto! A Friday surprise on a Wednesday, & talk about "Great minds think alike." - "The Guitar Triumvirate" SRV, Professor / Dr. Lombardi & Paul Davids too!!! Very insightful, . . . Kind regards!!!
Thank you! Waited for exactly this video as I didn't clearly get what Paul explained and was sceptical on that. When you are big and say something it automatically becomes a "truth", while can be compeltely wrong. Monterey strat is another example from Paul.
Dovresti chiamarti Alberto Rè, come Albert King 😉, suo mentore. Però poi a qualcuno toccherebbe chiamarsi "Piccolo Stefano Raggio"😂 (Vaughan means "small" in Welsh, and it's actually a boy's name ) Anyway great video!
People get so fixated on playing exactly like other people they end up playing uninspired knock off shit. I'd rather hear some ones rendition then a copy. Don't get hung up on the details to much
It's the details that separate, or differentiate one great player from another, or, they'd all just be 'a great player' with no nuances to talk about and in fact, it's those very nuances that give each and every player their unique character and humanity and expression in their playing. The little details, outline, emphasize and define boundaries in the colour of a musical landscape. If we didn't focus on the details, we'd never ever understand why people can be so great and how and why they got there. We can all bend a bluesy note on guitar! So, i put it to you, that it's the finer details that add up and separate you, from me and from SRV. Of course we need to get 'hung up' on them! That, is exactly what we should do! Nothing bad can come from trying to understand great musicians but, you might well miss out on a world of inspiration if you don't. You have it backwards, my dude.
SRV got to where he was, by studying and copying the finer details of his fave players! He didn't come out a copy, he came out a brand new tasty dish, infused with all the flavours he focused on and learned about!

Amazing analysis Alberto! This is a great revelation about this song and I hope Paul will check it out!
Cheers bro , warm up the Telly

Thanks Michael, me too 💛🎸 we all try to guess our best on this matters.

Ciao Dave, awesome to hear! It’s a challenging thing isn’t it?
@@albertolombardimusic wow, i can even play more fluently Texas flood 😂( non mocambo però)
Totally agree with you as a SRV nerd! Thanks
Cheers! We love the man
Spiegazione molto interessante e super chiara, bravissimo Alberto
Hey Iovel, ciao grazie 💛🎸
Fantastic video Alberto. Paul and yourself have made such great contributions to the memory of SRV. Thanks for helping us understand them. Ciao Paisano!
Thanks Paisano !
I said it during your pride and joy lesson.. it's the best and most comprehensive on RUclips..
Thanks Brian, I think this was missing !
Very much appreciate Paul, and your thoughtful commentary and ethos.

great follow up video- thank you. Your explanation is spot on and I find the playing closer to the original in this video :)
that's great

Chiaro, semplice e pulito. Grande video, Alberto!
Ciao Dani, grazie!
I didn’t think I’d learn as much as I did. Thanks. Funny that you didn’t tune to Eb though.
Fantastic review.
Love this man.
cheers!
splendid
thanks
All excellent points my friend!
We benefit tremendously the more SRV's mastery is broken down for us, simple guitar strummers ;-)
Stevie is worth it! 💛💛💛
That is why i admire this guy
Thanks Rolando

Facevamo questo gioco al liceo. James Hatfield era Giacomo Cappellocampo per esempio 😂😂😂
Fat too difficult --that sound ? how do you get that chunk chunk chunk ?
What is the relief on your neck? If you know, thanks
I like it almost straight
u can still sound same has recording what every way u hit the strings just play over original recording
18 minutes a day for a year on this task and I will be better than 95% of other players.
Hey bro, glad to see you got your nut fixed! :)
Oh yeah cheers!
This song is harder to play than I thought at first.
Devil is in the details, as always you pointed out the details of the details :) thank you for sharing. Btw. SRV is my guitar hero no. 1
n1 cheers!
vi siete messi d'accordo con Osvaldo di Dio? :-)
