Thanks for highlighting our town. The downtown has really been booming for the last couple of years. The Hacienda just reopened after many years of renovations. The Hacienda has famous residents on the sidewalk outside with info too. The park has lots of events, most are dog friendly, fyi. Chasco is coming up at the end of the month, if you are able to go. Highly recommend. A carnival and parade. Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for taking me back, Jordan. I covered this area for years as a newspaper correspondent and always marveled at the beauty of the homes and waters here.:)
Beautiful episode Jordon. I Love the art. The place looks so vibrant & fill of life. It's always good to see Mr Jah. Gotta Love him to pieces. Jordon After following your channel since the beginning, as an Australian, you have inspired to to learn about American history. Thank you & Kind regards from Adelaide, South Australia.
Thank you so much for sharing such a great video on the history of New Port Richey. Learned some new things! We live down the road from the "Gloria Swanson" house, too funny to hear the way stories evolve. Love our murals (many of them are modeled off locals), housing, Peace Hall, and all the Hacienda stories. Great to hear more on my favorite "famous" locals, June & Johnny. I believe there are two houses affiliated with the Cash family and one is a bungalow closer to New Port Richey, but that could be a myth. The mound is my favorite piece of history in the county. Thank you again!
I own a house there. The people in the mural with the boat in the corner that you stated weren’t named but you believed them to be real, were/are real people. They are not old famous people. They are New Port Richey famous. Some are still alive. They were/are just people who made an impact on the area.
Really enjoying your travels around Florida. As overseas viewers, all holiday advertisements tend to start and stop with Disney, however your recent vlogs have demonstrated there is a great deal more to this state. Loved New Port Richey. It seems an interesting, historical and beautiful place. Many thanks for this tour Jordan.
He talks about it in his book. He said they may maybelle had it decorated like a 1920s house, and that they kept her things there just the way she left it when they inherited it.
Awesome to see u vlog in New Port Richey, i lived in that area years ago then moved to Dunedin now im in Georgia, take a ride to Tarpon Springs to the Sponge Docks lots of great things to vlog there..safe travels Jordan
Little tidbit on our Hacienda Hotel here in NPR- there's an extra window on the outside west side of the building that they weren't sure where it went to as it didn't show on the inside of the building...many thought is was a "secret haunted room" as rumour went. Further down us19 is the Famous Spongedocks then further north on us19 is the famous Weeki Wachee Springs w/Mermaids! Trinity Memorial Gardens has the burial site of George Steinbrenner..
Hi Jordan, what a lovely little town, the murals were really good. I think there are loads of myths about a lot of these old Hollywood stars homes. The Hacienda looks a beautiful hotel aswell. Great vlog Jordan.
I lived in New Port Richey for 30 yrs., about 3 miles from Sims Park. Just moved to the east coast of Florida from there, 3 yrs. ago. Got to take a tour of the Hacienda when they were renovating it, so cool inside. Great Video Jordan!
New Port Richey is also the former home of Gordon Solie, of pro wrestling fame. In the 70s and 80s, that town was part of the hotbed that was Championship Wrestling From Florida.
Good video of NPR. I did a vlog when the Hacienda Hotel was open for renovations. The guides dressed like flappers. During Prohibition, Joe Kennedy had a tunnel dug to smuggle booze into the hotel. Ms. Swanson and he would meet at the tower and then go to her room directly below. Fun times. Btw, that small white bird is an ibis. Johnny Cash also owned one of the stilt houses out in gulf.
My dear lifelong friend who looked like Marilyn Monroe lived and unfortunately passed away in New Port Richey. Loved this. We were looking to move from South Florida to Mount Dora but now maybe will consider New Port Richey, if they'll have us LOL.
Really enjoyed this vlog Jordan. I have Gloria Swanson’s Memoir (Swanson on Swanson) she was an amazing and interesting woman. One of my favorite stars of all time. Beautiful area. Continued Blessings and Support. ~Love&Light♥️Carli
Cool video Jordan. I use to live in New Port Richey back in 1991 n 92. Got to go to Walt Disney World in Orlando while living down in Florida. I remember lots of Orange trees n Lightning storms
Just spent the night in The Hacienda Hotel on a whim and it was full of history, apparently there is an active ghost and was there visiting another guest. I loved the hotel and the grounds are beautiful. I have a few videos of the inside if anyone wants to see. They remodeled but kept it original.
I came to New Port Richey in 1969 I was four years old went to Elfers elementary then to Gulf middle then Gulf high which for me were in the same building which is now been torn down. I lived there until 2004. My parents’ home was on Illinois Ave near the middle school which originally was the high school.
Well you finally came to new port Richey my hometown hope you enjoy it. Also go 5 miles south to Historic tarpon Springs where you will find the sponge docks. Johnny Cash and June Carter cash winter home in Port Richey 1 mile north.
Wow I can't get over how much a town I grew up in has changed . My grandmother lived in town . When I lived over there I would go to IGA grocery store for stuff when my grandma was alive .
I remember the IGA store I used to go there as a little girl with my mother and then right across from it. I believe there was a like a dry cleaner business..
Jordan... loved the video today per usual. The murals were nice. Have you by chance considered doing a vlog tour of all the murals (a lot are on Central Ave) in the downtown area of St. Pete. Also: heres a dining tip. Theres an "old Florida" type restaurant called Molly Goodheads in Ozona not too far from Pam Harbor on the West side or US 19. The Florida seafood on their menu is pretty incredible.
Nice vlogging as always Jordan. Glad you found another nice place to take Jah next time.🐕🦺🌴 The murals are an awesome way of preserving history and people long gone ❤️🙏🏻
You are certainly right to be skeptical of a Marilyn Monroe-Al Capone Tryst since her first films released in 1947 and he died in January of 1947. He was released from federal prison in 1939 because his mind was going from syphilis. His own physician examined him in 1946 and stated that Capone had the mind of a twelve-year-old.
Yes, indeed, I really enjoyed this, Jordan. What a beautiful town with creative residents! A combo travelogue, history lesson, plus mentions of the famed stars who may or may not have lived there. The story re Marilyn Monroe and Al Capone is ridiculous. Though he did live in Florida, Capone was debilitated mentally and physically from multiple STDs for at least five years prior to his death in January 1947. She would have been 20 at the time. Marilyn and my dear mother had the same birthday, June 1st, except Mom was born in 1915 and Marilyn in 1926. As for travel guides telling tall tales about famous folk: during a 1965 visit to New York City one of the tours I took upstate was near some battle Benedict Arnold was in. The tour also took us through the USMA at West Point. The non-military guide told us that a little-known factoid re George Washington and Arnold was that after traitor Arnold escaped back to England, Washington helped support him and his family due to their being friends during the war and in remembrance of Arnold's non-traitorous portion of his service. There was no way for us to check the story then, of course. But nowadays the Internet has no such info anywhere I can find. I do remember a number of the tourists, myself included, being quite shocked about the revelation. It never occurred to any of us that the guide was lying.
I wish we could of ran into you, we were just in Florida less then a month ago. We were there celebrating Our 30 year wedding anniversary. We had gone to Old Town, which every time we come to Florida we go There & of course we had to go to the Flea markets as well. Love all your videos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️
Very good video Jordan but those white birds are egrets not sand hill cranes. Sand hill cranes are big tall birds that are grey and red. Their wingspan is 6 feet wide.
Thanks for highlighting our town. The downtown has really been booming for the last couple of years. The Hacienda just reopened after many years of renovations. Hi Jordan, I live in Spring Hill just near New Port Richie. Good vlog I didn't realize there was so much history in New Port Richie. thanks
I like the bungalow that Johnny and June inherited. I can just picture them having a great time there, and a change of atmosphere. Nice one Jordan!
He talks about it in his book. He said they may maybelle had it decorated like a 1920s house, and that they kept her things there just the way she left it when they inherited it.

Absolutely a great video! This was an extremely fun and informative! Thanks Jordan!!!

Most of us Floridians avoid that place like the plague.
Why? It was nice and clean
Enjoyed, Jordan
Hey Jackson, MS here. My Mom's family is in TN so thanks for finding The Cash's house.

interesting story about everything. I like the painting on the walls you stay safe till next time
I love seeing murals in towns. It's a shame developers were allowed to destroy history. Sadly I think that happens a lot.
Thanks for the Tour Jordan! Smooches to JAH! 🌈🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Great Vlog once again love the history of the town
Thanks 👍
One of my neighbors is down there visiting his niece and was at the chalk art festival this weekend, Need to get there

I understand that when the Movie Sunset BLVD 1950 that Gloria Swanson and Bill Holden visted the theatre is across from the Hotel.
Hey thanks for sharing this - I live in St Pete near Tampa but don't drive any more so enjoying this
It was more exciting back in the 1920’s. Just think what the land cost back then. My dads house which we kept is nearby.
I think they told me the Irving Berlin check was for property for $5,000... mind boggling
