I use an MPC One and SP404 MKII side by side in my studio. I used to have both the Live I and then a Live II, but prefer the way the One feels underneath my hand. I don't have to look at the controls as much by developing muscle memory. I like that the MPC One has more buttons per function and the shift combos are easier to execute. The click of the One buttons also gives you good feedback that something actually changed in the One. The lack of feedback from the soft buttons and constant touch screen tapping of the Live models slowed me down too much. Both run into my Tascam submixer and to the monitors. I really like the setup and have been 3x-4x creative with this combo the last 18 months than several years with the Live I and then Live II.
All great points... it's hard to argue against the MPC One just from a price to feature ratio... and I know plenty of people prefer it... thanks for the info and hopefully it helps somebody out that's thinking about making the decision on which one they'd prefer
i have a One as well an i really like all the buttons and the quickness of the UI in a very big way... i had been searching for a sort of master box for dawless for many many years and was happy to find something that finally clicked its not a DAW in a box tho, especially not for me coming from a sound engineering background.. so i still track everything into a DAW and finish productions in a DAW - but yeh i just have so much more fun composing in a DAWless setup
Thank you for the extensive explanations! Yeah the I/O will be a hassle in the long run, and I didnt think of that until you mentioned it yesterday!
happy to help!

totally understandable... they are both great devices... but use the one you love :D
I got the MPC Live 1 coming and as long as you don’t need the speaker then I’m cool with it.
