awesome content 👍
Yeah... only pluses and where are minuses? Like for eg. after minor accident you can't exchange part of the body because half of the car is one piece? So much for green revolution.
free
It's not the first paintless vehicle to reach the market. The DeLorean did well without paint and some of the original models are still around rust free. There's always the option of temporary vinyl wrapping and due to its shape, it make wrapping a breeze. Professional wrapping places are gonna be raking in the profits with the cyber truck. Win win.
Lol. The delorean bankrupted the dude
@@drainmonkeys385 because the actual car was bad and dangerous not because it was ugly, it looks fuckin awesome.
The Delorean was produced during high inflation, delays hit with costly production, a lack of consumer interest, and unfavorable exchange rates (built in Ireland) drove the company to bankruptcy.
Cyber truck is contending with high inflation and delays... But consumer demand isn't be a problem yet and the vehicle itself is built in America.
So we'll need to wait and see 🤔

Stainless body cladding is great until it needs bodywork.
Great video as always. I still can afford one but I can dream.
am on the waiting list, cant wait!
This has both pros & cons. On the positive side, it cut down the cost, material, and production time and it is easy to build. On the negative side, it is not easy to repair if cracks, Aluminium castings may bend, and twist. Also, the shock absorbing properties has to be checked.
Modern cars are designed to have "controlled deformation" in a crumple zone. Casting a chassi in larger pieces gives me pause for concern. Is safety a proper concern here if the passenger cabin and the front are of the same piece? The idea that everything around the cabin is expendable.
Cybertruck is stainless steel exoskeleton, that's why they needed this press.
@@Korvmannen Casting allows crumple zones to be more consistent and better engineered than making them from multiple pieces. So your concerns are not well placed with casting.
Think of crushing an aluminum can, now make the walls of that aluminum can from multiple parts, which one will crumple more uniformly and consistently?
@@zontarr8812 No, this casting process is not compatible with stainless steel. This is only for aluminum / zinc parts, so it will be for chassis. the exoskeleton will be pressed (formed) not cast.
@@eomhS Sounds reasonable. Though has it been done before? Would like to look it up if possible. Even if it's just crash tests. My concern wasn't that it's casting, but if it's made in one piece. So that the passenger cabin is sturdy, but all the rest possible to crumble in a good way.
i'm clicking on you because your thumbnail did not say "IT HAPPENED!"
Personally I like the look of the Cybertruck in stainless steel, but if you buy one and are dead set on having one in a different color I'm certain that there will be companies selling color wraps for the Cybertruck the day it is released.
I want mine in pink.
For sure

Can't wait to see all the features that are added as an answer to all the other trucks that will inevitably come out before this hits the streets in the next decade.
Agreed.. my interest in it is the dent-free paint-free design. I really don’t need a truck. But every other car gets beat to hell on the highway driving I do weekly. Between rocks, tires, small animals and other assorted shit on the highway.. that durable body would be a huge advantage to me
That’s not an advantage lol….

If we stay focused on innovation and the journey to it, this would would be a better place.
I really don't like it that they always give all the credit to Elon. I am pretty sure it's the people working under him that come up with all the good ideas and are implementing them.
I’m sure you are right about most of the ideas coming from the great teams that have come together. I think that Elon is mainly providing the freedom and structure to support their ability and talent to be wrong less often. 🤔
They never said all credit was to Elon. there was NO single demand for it that is why they never needed it. because Tesla requested it. the idra group(the other 5 company saying it NO as it was probably not practically seeing a no need for it) work hand on hand with Tesla they worked together to develop it. If you did not hear they were getting feed back from Tesla on what to add so basically it was practically custom made for Tesla(there 6k press). The 9k press was more Idra as they probably knew that Tesla was looking for a stronger press.
Elon is the reason Tesla exists today.
Simply put,
No Elon, no Tesla.
No Elon, no SpaceX. (and yes he is the lead rocket designer so he does come up with plenty of ideas as well.)
No Gates and Allen, no Microsoft.
No Walt Disney, no Disney.
No George Lucas, no Star Wars.
No Henry Ford, no Ford.
No Thomas Edison, no Edison.
No Jobs and Wozniak, no Apple.
Wow this is amazing joooh 🔥🔥
I appreciate the effort at maximizing manufacturing efficiency and reducing cost, but I am concerned about the long term costs. I know most vehicles are considered disposable anymore, but solidly casting an aluminum frame and the body will almost guarantee that any wreck will total the vehicle and leave it unrepairable. I wonder how many of these will end up scrapped within the first year.
I was thinking the same thing
Right? A relatively small chip to the Al frame could impact its functionality. Does it mean you need to replace the whole thing? Imagine the cost. Imagine the insurance premium
it's stamped stainless
@@rftek yes the body is, but not the frame. Regardless because they have nearly stamped the body as one piece, it will be much more difficult and expensive to repair, and that doesn't even account for the fact that it is in fact stainless steel.
Wow,How they go Big !
Good delivery. You make me laugh.
Very well made video! An extreme product, but if they can pull it off, definitely not a boring truck.
I agree, the rust, and dent free body is the most important feature of the CT. Looking forward to getting one.
I'm not clear...In a major fender bender and yes Tesla's truck will take damage. Do we have to pay to replace the entire body. It's an obvious question, and I'm sure has been addressed but, I'm still in the dark and still on the fence.

Any colour you want, as long as you can get the vinyl to stick ?
"Colossal machine"
That's literally nothing in the industrial sector. I've worked on turbines for nuclear reactors, it's easily the size of 20 houses.
I, too, have worked on reactors, but the difference is in production volume. No one makes 100,000 reactors at consumer-accessible prices.
A very cool car 👍😎
9:57 "aside from that one guy in fireproof suit pooing liquid metal with a stick..." - now that's a job i'd like
I don't know. To be honest, pooing liquid metal does not sound like my idea of a dream job. Even if you have a stick.
I remember having something like $23,000 back in November 2019, and reserving the tri-motor with FSD for $77,000(112784xxx). And now the stock is worth $350,000, the truck will probably end up being close to $95,000, and I should have a couple hundred grand to play with while I drive around in my new CT4FSD.
600 mile per charge is a must have feature. May be two layer battery.
I suppose, eventually, vehicles will be 3D printed. Imagine 100s of printers in a factory running 24/7, using dozens of different matls.
Instead of colors how about textures? Sandblast, high polish, iridescent, etched? Aftermarket?
Scalability of additive manufacturing in EV production lines will be insane!
That’ll be soooo brilliant to see.
3D printing has its places. High volume manufacturing of things easily made by other means are not one of them. The economics are insanely wrong.
3d printing would be too slow for mass production based on current technologies and engineering.
@@bighands69 Sorry I assumed that posters here would understand innovation. Tech always gets faster, cleaner, cheaper. Y didn't you know this??
For the other five that said no, big mistake Big Huge. Any affiliation with Tesla will move you to the front of the line.
They said no not for the sake of it. They realized they don't quite have the necessary know-how to be able to make such a machine.
is this a pic of the machine itself or will this maching be ready in 10 years from now?
Epic. Exciting. EV.....can't wait.....
It'll be interesting to see what issues may arise from the single-piece castings when repairs need to be done. I'm also curious about accident impacts when there aren't the traditional crumple zones present anymore. I'm sure Tesla has a solution and I'm eager to see what it is. CT was originally looking to be the first EV truck on the market, but not being first has its advantages too, like being able to add features that the other guys have already.
I like that they've already considered repairs... where they have sections you can saw off and bolt a new section onto the chassis.
Grind it of cut it off fill it up new piece weld it.
Me love it. No rust just lots of scars hope body made to be legendary long lasting. Here s me Hoping
I know my supposedly legendary Landcruiser 70 serie is full of rust and needs constant love to keep going but heh it’s legendary toyota they say.
Casting is always stronger… we have identical looking machines made in the 60’s casted that sell for more money than non casted machines from the 80’s
@@scottmcelhiney323 what about aesthetics? Does it look the same?
Yeah. You can be a bad welder and a good grinder and repair this thing. And with next gen computer I think it will be a notable reduction in accidents.
If I get a cybertruck I would throw some king coil overs and triple bypass shocks all around. I’m curious what 37s or maybe 40s would look on this beast. I would love to see it race in Baja against the big loud v8
If you walk past a tesla with a tool in your pocket, that voids the warranty and you do t want that.. they don't let anyone work on them but them..
Good morning everyone
Do we know what’s going on with the windscreen wipers yet?
9:56 that one got me...

This press is not just for Cybertruck but also for Tesla Truck

Die-cast and injection molding aren't the same, similar though!
Gotta hand it to you Canucks. I'm in New York State, 70 miles north of NYC, and it is cold enough here in the winter, but nothing like up in the Great White North. Yes, a rust proof truck would be appreciated by everyone who has to deal with road salt.
It would be cool if you look under the back of it there's a little Hot Wheels logo and maybe - Cyber truck, full size.
Stainless steel is great because you can get rid of needing paint as well. Can't come out soon enough given the ahem *evolving* situation related to the Ford F150 Lightning.
Since it’s only one piece does that mean auto body work won’t work? What happens if it gets in a crash? Would you just need to cut out the damaged part and how would it be able to be fixed from there?
Elon give me a message I’m not just a musician, I have ideas and I build for life too.
Love your work and I not at your level but I different things with stone.
Is the Tesla roadster still supposed to be made
I'm not sold on it being out in 2023 just yet, my questions would be; Is there going to be only one gigapress in Tesla's entire Cybertruck factory? So, when it breaks down, and as a machine, it will break down at some point, the entire production run stops until a part/s for a one of kind machine can be made/found? And stainless steel is nice, but there is an entire region of the country labeled the "rust belt" for a reason, it may take longer but stainless steel will rust too, especially without paint. Nice vehicle for sunny CA, AZ, or TX but not so much for the rust belt. On the other hand I'd really like to see Ford buy a gigapress and start making F150 frames in Aluminum to go along with the bed and body.
If they use 316 grade stainless it'll be fine. It's specified to be submerged in salt water...
An electric F150 can have a tool bed installed on it. One of the most essential pieces of equipment in the trades.
By the way… get your stats right Tesla Space… it’s the front 1/3 of the car, not 1/4 of the car when it comes to the two giga castings and the structural battery pack.
The most exciting part for me is not even the Cyber truck it's what other companies are going to put out because of the Cyber truck that I'm looking forward to. Finally some changing design and styling.
You people are mentally ill, you'll accept any change as long as it's change, especially when something isn't broken, which is what bring me to think you've got some serious underlying issues in your head
Cybertruck looking like setting the new ev self drive standard but what about the Cybertruck camper?

Am I supposed to replace the entire car??
Your supposed to educate yourself in welding. Otherwise ill happy do it for you give me your money chump me love your type
@@chriauc2976 have you heard of specialization of labor? It's a major principle that drives capitalism
Your fender won't get bent 🤣
In a fender bender, where the damage is primarily just to the body of the vehicle, the truck can still be repaired. Stainless is more difficult to repair. On a typical vehicle, the bent section can be cut off, a new piece welded in place, and then it's all sanded, smoothed, and repainted. On a vehicle with no paint, you cannot hide the welds. So, you have to replace the entire body section affected. But, look at the Deloreon. If you ever see one that is painted, that is a good indicator that it was in an accident. They cover up the repair with paint. You can do that, or vinyl wrap it. There will be options. Minor damage will not make the vehicle a total loss.

My hope is, can I still afford to pay for it. My guess in 2019 was $100k if it's going to be $200k that is to far for me to reach, as much as I love to have it, and it's cool as hell....
Colors have been added and stainless can be brought in with about 4 or 5 colors available.
Cybertruck needs a Cybertrailer with a full additional battery pack in full enclosed and flatbed versions for wide adoption as a contractor's work truck.
It would also be interesting to have a Cybertrailer in an RV version.
Real world tests of current electric pickup trucks show that towing drastically reduces range, so to have a working vehicle to not only haul materials and tools but also power a worksite, a full battery cybertrailer is something that should accompany the release of the Cybertruck.
Totally useless and Ineficient unfortunately
With solar on the trailer. Panels that fold out to give about 3KW of generation.
@@goodcitizen4587 two sides of the coin. Well of course if you have a trailer, having fold out kilowatts of solar (and shade) will be cool, but 6 hours of 3kw isn't going to drive you home.
@@goodcitizen4587 the solar panel that folds won’t be a thing and certainly won’t last long!
The Cybertruck with a Cyberlandr installed, given that both don't suck in execution, will be cheaper, more efficient, and more functional than an RV.

I'm watching this before my last day of junior highschool 😔

Car (truck) wraps will allow any color truck you want. They will adhere to stainless with a minor adjustment..
What are the insurance rates for these...
What we need it the Simi quickly and the Van
At 7:00 what fell down and was it supposed to???
If they could make an electric truck to the same basic specs as the Toyota SR5 circa '88, for under 50K, they'd sell 100 million units. Those were the most versatile, tough, reliable and affordable trucks ever made, on par with 70's F150.
I was wondering why grey is so popular a colour for cars. It could be an anticipation of the Cybertruck, with stainless steel body.
The gigapresses according to Tesla save about 30% on the production of the vehicle. That was from there cars. It should be something about the same with their truck.
i am wondering about accident damage? how will it be repaired? are there panels to replace or is it cut and weld?
Way too expensive to repair just like any tesla
Probably 1 year waiting time and be charged half the vehicle's value.
Why does it look like Elon built a truck for the zombie apocalypse?...
Wondering if all Teslas will be available in stainless someday 🤔

Stainless steel is expensive? No. Stainless is about $3 Lb, and $100 Lb less than composites. Starship is made of the same same grade of stainless as Cybertruck 🚀
The major problem with replacing several small scale parts assembled together with far fewer large scale moulded parts assembled together is part replacement/repair due to accidents/metal fatigue/corrosion etc. Replacing a large scale part will be much more expensive both in material as well as in labour costs.
If one of those large, cast parts is damaged, in some cases the damaged portion can be cut off and a new section welded in place. You do not necessarily have to replace the entire piece which might require disassembly of most of the vehicle. Obviously this is dependent on where the damage is, how severe it is, and the skill of the technician working on the damage. Every case will be different. But, the point is, in some cases, the repair cost will not be as bad as you fear it is.
@@kenwendland2285 @Ken Wendland "...and a new section welded in place". Ken, from where will the technician obtain the 'new section'?
@@dawnlightening Where do technicians obtain replacement parts now? A supplier. Tesla, or third parties, have the ability to supply portions of the larger components for this specific scenario. It's not all that complicated. Whether or not they will, I don't know. But the capability is there.
@@kenwendland2285 And that is exactly the problem Ken. Because, in order to get 'portions of the larger components' a complete large component has to be sacrificed just to provide the part that the technician needs for his welding. In addition, the technician has to specify exactly how to cut the required piece out. All of this defeats the whole purpose of having large moulded parts. This is exactly why vehicle manufacturers (or the manufacturers of ANY machinery) do not do what Tesla is doing, but instead have assemblies of several simpler parts.
Isn't this precisely what many companies are now doing? Either products are impossible to repair, forcing consumers to buy new, or only the brand can repair it. Either way, more money to drain out of customers!
Elon Musk must work very late into the evening to create all of these things.
So when is Elon Musk going to making electric motor RV' coachliners with the electric motors that will be used in the shipping trucks.
