    *Re: **#AiniasSmith** (2/2)* - alll upsides for his #Eagles draft (esp for those that did NOT watch TX and/or SEC football regularly). 1) he’s a #SlotReceiver m, who *excels in Zone & is very good in Man (akin to **#Deebo**)* 2) #Ainias does NOT get alligator 🐊 arms, or shrink, anticipating any number of hits (eg, The Bama bs ATM game highlight shown in this video’s one of them w/ triangled defenders around him, *but he finished his route ON TIME & used his 5’9” 190lb frame (fmr RB) to bounce off 2 top Bama defenders)* 3) he can & does run *the entire route tree, but also has a NACK FOR TEMPO’ING HIS INTIAL RELEASES TO ALLOW FIELD TO CLEAR & FINDING GAPS IN ZONE D & ADJUSTS HIS ROUTES TO MAXIMIZE THOSE EMPTY SPACES similar to **#TravisKelce** & **#Edelman** (& to a lesser degree Wes)* 4) he *NEVER DROPS (catchable) PASSES, & his inner RB pushes him to get behind his pads & fight for extra yards (as evidenced by his YAC) & 5) of *qualified WRs, Ainias Smith was in mid-80th percentile over last 5 drafts when counting passes less than 20yds (but eliminating screens & less than 2yds off scrimmage) - WHEN INCORPORATING YAC INTO HIS CATCHES, he moves up to 92-percentile of all qualified WRs* & 6) #Ainias has an *unbelievably wide base (again starting 🏈 as a RB & now is 5’9” @ 190lbs) BUT does NOT have any LACK/LOSS IN HIS FLEXIBILITY OR ABILITY TO DETACH HIS LOWER-FROM UPPER BODY TO MAINTAIN DESIRED COURSE OF DIRECTION AND/OR JUMP-STEP TO ADJUST KO and/or PUNT RETURNS,* which mirrored Wes @ TTU when he set the record for most returns. *Once he gets time w/ Jalen Hurts in Camp, prior, or during games, he’ll quickly become one of Hurt’s top-3 receiver targets. Starting Slot WR for the **#Eagles** no later than mid-Season 2024 as he supplants Paris Campbell as the Slot, & then the REAL FUN begins w/ him across the middle to open up **#AJ** & **#Smitty** down the field & **#Barkley** out of the backfield.* The same “click” that occurred in #Philly after #AJBrown came in will similarly be seen when Ainias is plugged into this system. He’ll be the final piece.

      He gotta beat out Paris Campbell who people are forgetting about but is uber talented himself and fast but I believe Ainias is clearly our long term slot solution and likely will be starting by end of year because he looks ready to go. I don’t know about returning tho because we also draft Shipley and DeJean who have return ability onto a roster with Britain Covey who made Pro Bowl as returner.
      So I would initially keep Covey at Return unless he doesn’t improve and get’s completely beat out. I would like to see Smith cross trained as a slot and used as a half back at times too similar to Debo and Percy Harvin.

      @@Byronic19134 good thoughts.Covey concerns me with his ball security.Will be a good competition at kick/punt return.I think they are gonna transition dejean to safety so I doubt they would risk him getting hurt on punt and kick returns and then of course you have Shipley who I think they will look to use as a depth piece at running back so when gainwell leaves they'll have a backup rb.I think they are gonna put anias in the slot competing with Paris Campbell so it will be whoever is the best out of those two at slot

    I have a question that Steve would like. We always see first-round receivers with great physical gifts not pan out, So what guidance would you give a young receiver to help him develop and maintain the ability to master the "chess match" so they can process and react effectively? AKA What is the blueprint for relying on your mind to be your most powerful tool on the field?

    • @spuh3460
      @spuh3460 3 месяца назад +2

      i mean it’s definitely a natural brain skill at that level. but i think like with anything just practice and studying. watch film and watch your favorite receivers, help build up that bag of tools, and experience different situations on the field. the more you care and work and study, the more it will just become ingrained inside you. then you’ll just start doing things on the field without really thinking about it. but the fact that you are on here trying to ask steve makes me think that you definitely want it, and that’s the first step. go get that shit my boi.

      Tricky question because there are a number of variables that are the reason a player fails, 2 of the biggest is not getting the right opportunity and losing confidence in their ability. And in terms of intelligence you can become more experienced and knowledgeable but much like athleticism, some people can either process at a high level or not.

      Chemistry between WR’s and QB’s is everything and ideally you would like to have a situation like the Eagles where Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown and Devonte Smith all work out together in offseason and study tape. Caleb is not Jalen Hurts tho and does not have the same selfless personality or he would have already been working out with Rice and told the Bears management he wants him.
      I’m also shocked the 9ers did not draft Rice either considering how late he went and being the son of Jerry, especially after the Steelers traded to get Joey Porter Jr. last year, and Eagles traded up for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. this year.
