If you’re curious about what _my_ bullshit job looks like, check out this video (just don’t forward it to my boss 😅): ruclips.net/video/4RzRenkC75o/видео.htmlsi=WSE3WlBATDkqle5_

You were doing very well up to the Twitter/X point. This particular example involves politics. EU and Brazil are taking measures agaist the network's lack of moderation, which was one of the main branches Elon fired from the offices around the globe.

Interesting essay Louis! Exposing the sad reality of bullshit jobs

You could probably parody any job, a lot of the times in jobs you're really there to keep people honest, stop society falling into chaos etc.
Think about it, what did most people learn in the first years of school? Almost nothing, really.
Probably socialization/displine was the most important lesson we learned, IMO.
But I'm not just picking on teachers. My Father worked most of his adult life at an oil refinery 37 years total (!).
It was an easy enough job, they were overstaffed probably three to one, they even had a blow up mattress in the control room so that one out of the three could sleep.
Yes it could be dangerous (one worker was killed when a pipe exploded one time), but more or less it was a real Homer Simpson type job- The alarms (to signify overpressure) allowed workers to not pay attention, they then adjusted a knob to reduce pressure.
Later on, computers virtually did the monitoring job for them.
BUT, they HAD to be there, just in case something went wrong, there was a fire etc (they were trained as firefighters too).

If earning serious money means that you need to either produce something or deliver services in a tangible manner, the jobs that do neither feels hollow or less than essential perhaps. What could be considered as façade or tread-milling jobs among this modern society.
But life is very intricate like how somebody’s treasure could be another man’s trash (and vice versa), you just don’t know who appreciates your work till it really disappears.
So have dignity for whatever profession. It'll become your avocation one day and then it won't be "pointless" anymore.

I'd disagree that Twitter/X runs better these days but it definitely still runs well enough that they still have users.

There's no crackdown on p0rn anymore. As far as I'm concerned, it's never been better. :D

This was an interesting video essay, the topic was good and it was written well enough. I guess my only gripe was the visuals, especially with the AI images. But it's a very important topic not alot of people seem to be talking about, so good job

Very well made video and unfortunately bloat and inefficiencies is a symptom of bureaucratic incompetence. It only gets worse as the system decays and eventually falls apart.
Speaking of Elon, trump said he is gonna have Elon audit the government and get rid of nonsensical bloat like he did with Twitter. Crazy time to be alive

      Thanks man!
Ya it would be quite interesting if Elon does end up getting to do it. The US budget is in quite a dangerous deficit right now so it is very much needed.

I go into the economic analysis at 10:19 actually, about how pointless jobs are created under free market competition. There is a cultural (and political) analysis at 13:51 as well, but the economic part is probably more relevant to your interest in capitalism.
