    Saw this yesterday, applied to my practice today, that left knee feeling made a huge difference immediately. Best single tip I've found in months. 👍👍

    In my opinion, the best video you've done on this topic is "3 Keys to Start the Downswing". That video begins by highlighting how important it is to start the downswing when you are still turning away from the ball. For me, this is the key to good swing tempo and solid contact, and makes rolling the lead knee feel natural.

    Excellent lesson Chris I love your coaching style. It's very well delivered. I am 55 years of age been playing for 3 years stopped golf for 12 years when I had the children. I'm finding golf a real challenge. I can't get off the tea and just keep hitting over the top. I've got David leadbetter videos which I watch. But rotation is something I'm really struggling with. I started playing golf in my mid twenties had lessons and hit the ball a long way and was accurate. I work on the eight o clock drill regularly as I was losing width in my swing and turning my hips to early. I'm confident I'll get there but I'm very anxious. I play Saturday and Sundays first light on my own at chalgrave golf club Bedfordshire. Thanks for the lessons keep up the good work

    First time I watch this video. It's the best video I have ever watched. You described my issue to a tee when talking about the weight shift forward with the upper body. I hope this adds the consistency that I'm looking for. Thanks Chris.

    struggled with this for ages. I know in theory how to swing the club but never managed to capture the right feel or thought to get my body to do it right. Haven't taken it out to the course yet, just practice swinging but instantly this feels better. Staying balanced through to finish and almost effortless swing. by trying to get that feeling of the knee movement first, it seems to pulleverything round in the right order and not be disjointed or a jerky swing. Can't wait to hit balls

    excellent excellent tip! I've been working on initiating my lead knee first, but this tip of putting the weight on the outside of the lead foot makes it soooo much easier to do!

    Love the four part series. Watched them all and I have realized my backswing has been entirely to flat. High hands is the key. Practiced it and had instant improvement. Will be fitted in the coming week for a new set of clubs. You do a good job explaining yourself with the video enhancements.

    Been trying for a while to figure this movement, but never really got it right, saw this video this morning, just been down the range and tried this and started hitting some much better straighter, longer and more consistent shots. I had trouble with miss hits where I was topping the ball, this movement definitely helped with that

    Very good video, I have been golfing for about 10 years, the best game ,I had was about 90, a bad game was about 115. Had a few lesions during that time, and nothing helped long term. I just started watching videos and practicing their drills, everyday, Now ,I regularly golf in the low 80's only thing stopping me from 70's is putting. I 3 putt way too much. lol . So they do work and chris is one of the best.

    I’ve been doing this for several months, and it’s the only thing that cured my early extension. I slowly went through the motions of skipping a stone on water, and I realized that the left knee is the first thing that moves when I begin the throw. Applied it to my swing, and no more early extension.

    I am Japanese. I have been attracted by your nicest vedio for the correct downswing using proper leftside knee actions and so on. I am always practicing it and my balls go farther and much more straight tranjectory , which has astonished me so much. You are a great instructor. Knee action is the secret point for good swing which I have realized in my forty years carreer of my golf . Your swing is well balanced and beautiful. I am so happy to encounter your vedio for the key of a great swing.

    Chris quick question for u.. I’ve been moving left knee like u said in the video for about a week now but my issue is I’m cutting the ball now, which I wouldn’t mind if it would be a little cut but it’s a bigger cut than I would like. I used to draw the ball but now I don’t know what I’m doing differently

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Jack, if the ball flight has changed then this will be down to the path now moving left. As you do this drill, use something outside the golf ball to ensure the path is still out to the right to hit your draw 👍

    • @trr8z

      FreakLiveTV I wonder if it would be different? Isn't everything the same except ball position?

    • @freakerdk
      @freakerdk 7 лет назад +1

      Well i'm not sure about that really. I see videos with coaches wanting the driver club head to drop behind you before you start the downswing to avoid "hitting over the top". And the bumping the hip towards the target with the driver i'm not sure if that works. And finally the upper body tilt away from the ball to hit up on the ball i sometimes feel the driver getting trapped on the downswing

    • @alvaroybanez5210
      @alvaroybanez5210 6 лет назад

      Only thing that differs is ball position (the low point of the arc stays the same) and probably a little bit more of spine tilt (to get the ball up in the air). That's about it. You still need to come from the inside. Do not think about the hips. They will react naturally to the swing (a throwing motion). It has been proven scientifically that it happens unconsciously. Check Tony Luczak and Anticipatory Synergetic Activation.

    Hi great vid. My coach says l should b in a more closed set up and start with arms first. I tend to hit it fat doing this etc. If i hit from delivery position etc with bowed left wrist i can really compress the ball and turn through it hard but struggle to get into the same position with a full swing. I konow u r busy but any help much appreciated

    Chris what are the quickest greens you have played on? I've just been to Powerscourt Ireland and the green-keeper measured them at 11.5 wow what an experience it was, really nice course. I believe Augusta is measured at 12.

    • @d3cromanc3r
      @d3cromanc3r 5 лет назад

      The stimp reading is just a number, and doesn't accurately indicate difficulty or the feel of the speed. Michigan State University, one of the leading schools in Turfgrass Management, did a study showing that professional golfers can't accurately distinguish differences in green speed more than six inches. That means that if they were 10'6" one day, the next day an 11' or 10' reading would feel the same. In that same study non professionals couldn't distinguish between a difference of an entire foot, making a 12 and 10 feel the same as the prior days' 11. Add that to the fact that a smaller green with more severe contours built in the early 1900's with a stimp of 10.5 or higher will likely be harder to putt well on in comparison to a larger, more subtlety contoured modern green with stimps of 12-14 and you start to realize that stimp readings really are pointless. One of the golf clubs I worked at could get them above 14' for two or three consecutive days, but at the detriment of the health of the green. Would you rather be putting on a green that stimps 10' and rolls smooth and true, or an unhealthy green that rolls 13' that rolls bumpy and wobbly as the ball dies out?

    Why can’t both knees move forward and parallel to each other in downswing? Please explain vs only left knee moves toward the target which feels awkward to me.

    • @weldon9254
      @weldon9254 5 лет назад

      vimal Mittal Because the left knee initiates the left hip turning before the upper body. This creates the proper sequence. If hips don’t turn first, you’ll never get the consistency and speed to hit quality golf shots.

    This is the problem with golf. There is so much contradictory information. Just when you think you got it someone releases a video that says the opposite. Watched a full video of people talking about the key to start the down swing is pulling the arms down in front of the body. Sergio calls it pulling a chain. Davis love felt like he was hitting a nail, etc. This separating the knees is different than what the other video said. Help a brother out and be clear

    • @ChrisRyanGolf

      Hey Courney, I can totally understand your frustration at this. Tiger woods won tournament under 3 different coaches who all had their own views on the swing and what he should do. Neither was right or wrong, just different views which is how good instruction is. If you take information from a number of different sources then there will be things that appear to contradict. Tiger won under all those coaches, but the chances are he wouldn’t have won had he been taking instructions from all three at the same time. I think the key is to find a coach or source of information that you trust, and stick to that to move your game forward. Hope that helps 👍
