I would just stitch them on a heavy tear away stabilizer and then just tear them off to be free standing. Any water soluble stabilizer is going to create a wet mess!
I love this. What would your suggestion be if I want to use this glitter to make an applique letter just in the hoop like you did, but not adhere it to anything right away? I want to embroider an applique letter and then mail it to someone and let them heat seal it to material. I thought about hooping tearaway and float the vinyl. I would love the advise on what how'd you do it.
Thank you for sharing. I don’t know how to embroider, yet. Do you adjust your machine for satin stitch or does the file automatically do a satin stitch?
Millie Cepero this is not marine vinyl, this is heat transfer vinyl. It’s used in the silhouette & cricut cutting machines. It’s thin and can be ironed onto garments. Marine vinyl is glittery fabric.
you can find glitter HTV here: shrsl.com/ogwm like what I used in the Video ---- You can order Marine Vinyl from MiKri World or you can find it on etsy or JoAnns will have it in large amounts.
If doing the letters to be "free standing," do you just switch to a water soluble stabilizer?

Great idea! Thanks for sharing. I have a stash of HTV but I embroider more often so this is a fantastic technique for me!
campweasel1996 I'm so glad this was helpful to you!! It's so much easier than cutting fabric!!

Around the 5:45 mark in the video I talk about why I press and then stitch. It creates a ridge if the HTV is allowed to move during stitching.

The Embroidery file will know when to satin stitch -- Embroidery machines are pretty cool!!
