Apart from the BTTF connection, my granddad had one of those. Many nostalgic memories popped back as I used to spend hours playing around with it. I even said 'monitor' under my breath, and I remember pressing the the thumb control to make it record.
I'm trying to remember if I ever got composite video out of it somehow and used it with the video digitizer on the Arc.
You were supposed to say: "It can only operate for about ten seconds on the battery. The wife said we should video ourselves making love." ;-)

BTTF connection? Yup, that monitor button can be confusing if you've not used one before. Oh ha de ha ha lol

Those VHS-C to VHS 📼 converter tape require batteries 🔋 for operation. Make sure they’ve not gone flat. You might be able to get or make some AV cables to scart or phono.
Also belts from 70/80 kits can stretch or parish so might need replacing

The recording appears fine in the camera, the convertor was using fresh batteries, I think it. was a tension issue, I may not have tensioned it before putting in the camera,.

There could be a battery in succession to those fubared batteries, you know modern equivalent

Anything of that age needs re-capping, new psu, new batteries and new belts.
