BREAKING: SHOHEI OHTANI SIGNS WITH DODGERS FOR $700,000,000

- Опубликовано: 16 сен 2024
- Per Jeff Passan: Shohei Ohtani's deal with the Dodgers is for 10 years and $700 million. Shohei Ohtani's contract has significant deferrals that include most of his salary -- an idea, a source said, that was Ohtani's. In deferring the money, it reduces the cost of the competitive-balance-tax hit and will allow the Dodgers to build a better team around him. The $700 million Shohei Ohtani will receive from the Los Angeles Dodgers is the largest guarantee in sports history 🤯

Shohei Othani is the highest paid player in North American sports history that's crazy
He’s the highest paid in any sport, he passed messi
*In professional sport’s history
@@dominicmartino6437guaranteed
Not only in American sports he’s the most paid in the world which is crazy
Well thats the last time we see someebody new for the nl mvp .. now NL mvp every year will be ohtani
Merry Christmas to all Dodgers fans. Finally, I'm glad we got this officially. Welcome to the Dodgers, Shohei. Can't wait to see you ball out
You gonna have to pay up sucka
Best Christmas ever😂 that’s you God🙏🏼🙏🏼
As a Giants fan, I cannot cheer this decision. As an Ohtani fan, I can't *not* celebrate this one of a kind player getting paid. Good on you, Shohei San
Ohtani originally planned to go to the Dodgers after high school. It seems he is finally back on the path he should be on. It is also very good timing.
Who told u this
@@JoseJimenez-uv2ebit’s pretty famous
hey dude, Ohtani was the clear #1 big dog out there, it is very kind of him to sign this early. Now all the next tier FAs can sign on with teams, then the next tier, and so on and so forth. hopefully now more families can plan for their lives before Christmas. 🌲
Anyone who thought he was going anywhere but LAD was purely delusional. He doesn't even have to move his summer house and can catch the shortest flights back to Japan whenever he wants. He just wants to be on a winning team and this puts LAD as the top team in the NL, even over the Braves.
also Ohtani was meant to be a dodger ; dodgers have wanted him since he was in high school
Dodgers are always the top team in the NL but yet they can’t win a regular season World Series and if they fail this next season it will officially be written in stone that dodgers will never win a regular season World Series
But the Dbacks will still beat them in the playoffs. lol
Yea they had a great record and got smoked by the D Backs.
@@highroller7959 Braves were the top NL team last year, sorry. Plus it's about merchandise sales more than anything. They are guaranteed to make that money back in just a few years even if they never make it to a WS.
Ohtani to the Dodgers was the only thing that ever made sense!
You’re the 🐐, Fuzzy. I was excited to hear your take.
🍷 🍺 🥃
I hope Shohei stays healthy, and I want to see him just hit next season. Imagine what he can do if he just focuses on hitting I’m excited 😊
I so agree with you, he need to focus on offense. Pitching will kill his body.
@@airving agreed but there’s no hitter on this earth worth 70 mil a year. He got it because he can do both plus his draw to the Asian market.
Screw the dodgers and watch them become the angles
As a Giants fan, I now have to root against this man. Life is cruel.
Same as a dbacks fan
same as a padres fan
AS A DODGER FAN I HAVE NO PITY FOR YOU WHATSOEVER BUT NO HARD FEELINGS. I HOPE IT HURTS FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. HAVE A NICE DAY
@@JohnC3POlerud try having a team that doesnt spend at all but goes for big stars and doesnt get any of them, be grateful
manuel, kyo u do but its much much worse for us giants fans we went after him and other stars and always miss and its worse since hes going to the dodgers
I’m sad that the Mariners didn’t go for it. However, gotta love it for the Dodgers hope I can see him play next season
Mariners owner cares more about money than winning sadly
no way M's were in it
they could dhave offered a billion dollars and it wouldnt have mattered
Good morning from Tokyo, Fuzzy! Your notification was the first one I saw when I woke up, and it made me scream and dance! Thanks for a great recap!
I’m a jays fan and I’m very disappointed but it made it worse that all those articles yesterday’s were false
I hope Morosi is banned from Canada and put on a terrorist watch list
@@ian3740 that might be a little extreme
I know it stings but lets be real, did you REALLY think he was going to choose Canada?
@@JawaPenguin16That was what I was thinking. Anyone that thought he was going to a small or mid market team was crazy. There were only 5 or maybe 6 teams that was in the running for him the whole time. imo
@@loganstevens2688nope. Seems fair.
This is a massive deal for the Dodgers, Blue Jay fans on the other hand, must be in shambles right now after all the rumors turned out to be false 😂
After last year's Carlos Correa fiasco, I never though we'd ever see a weirder offseason for a player. I was wrong.
🤔 It is tied for me. It is hard to beat that Correa saga though.
Idk Correa is even worse lol
This really wasn’t weird though? People just made a huge deal out of one guy; otherwise, it seems pretty simple to me. Correa’s was infinitely weirder.
As a Dodgers fan, yea it’s no secret I’m hyped for this.
As a baseball fan, I understand why people would be angry about NY, Philly, LA getting all the biggest free agents, how small markets can’t compete, they need to add a salary cap but here’s my argument; don’t have the player, hate the game. Remember that whole fiasco after 2021 about the CBA agreement. That was baseball’s best chance to get all those restrictions in and no one would dare touch it. Even a salary floor was a dealbreaker. As long as baseball owners keep getting money and baseball players have no restrictions on how much they get paid, why in the world would they change anything?
I can’t wait to see him in that uniform
That’s what I like about MLB, no hard cap. You want to win, make a bid.
Salary caps in other sports are discouraging and also hurt the quality of the games.
I love superteams
Exactly. Plus just because you spend money, doesn’t guarantee a World Series. Dodgers can end up not making it again past first round.
HEHEHEHEHEHE GO DODGERS!
That exactly why according to comcast the MLS passed the MLB in average viewers per game
I am crying rn. Angels fan right here
I’m so sorry for you😢 giants fan here
Angel organization don’t deserve Shohei, BUT he’s definitely over paid
For Sure,Anyone but the Dodgers. My Condolences.
It's not too bad. All you have to do is just drive up the I-5 for 45 min and you'll still get to see your ex-2 way superstar. Better than Ohtani going to the blue jays.
Just change teams
Ohtani is the kind of guy that will spark the team and bring his teammates a step up
You'd think but did nothing for those scrubs at the Angels. They had both Trout and Ohtani and still couldn't make post.
@@rickdeckard9810They could’ve put up 20 runs and still lost. They had 0 pitching + tons of injuries.
as an angels fan im hurt he went to the Dodgers but im more hurt at the fact we couldve got something in trade for Ohtani and we are still stuck with Arte Moreno 😭
I feel you brother. Life as an angels fan is pain....
As an Angels fan this sucks. I'm happy for Ohtani first of all, losing him is pretty much entirely the Angels organizations fault, but yet again overshadowed by big brother Dodgers.
As a baseball fan it sucks too. Especially with Soto going to Yankees just a few days ago. It's fun when all the superstars are more split up across all the teams. Yankees and Dodgers getting the best players feels like the rich getting richer. I kinda liked the idea of him going to the Blue Jays
Best of luck for Ohtani though. He's still always a legend with all the respect in the world from me
Angels had no business going for him they need pitching
@@mannyquintana8074 Angels also need hitting. Angels needed everything. Most importantly Angels as a franchise and as a fanbase needed Ohtani. Not saying they had a realistic shot at resigning him, but just the final nail in the coffin of the ultimate failure of a franchise. Moreno needs to sell the team and Perry Minasian especially needs to be fired.
What the Angels really need is a new owner with a different mentality. The rich get richer because they invest
Not sure why anyone would possibly think he would choose to go to some team like the Mariners or Blue Jays lol. His best chance of winning is by being a Dodger. He just spent 6 years with an owner that didn't care about the franchise.
Dave Roberts laughing it up rn 😂😂😂
Thanks for the great videos, I watch them every day keep the grind up.🔥
Actually, when Ohtani graduated from high school in 2012, he was thinking of possibly joining Dodgers before deciding to stay in Japan. When he was coming to US 5 years later, he couldn't choose Dodgers since there was no DH system in National League back then.
Forget the media this is why I don’t really pay attention to them or watch them the try to force players and just in general but I am happy for ohtani he really deserves it
People who thought he would not sign because of Dave Roberts
👇
I'm a dodger fan and I honestly thought he screwed us especially after the comments made by Friedman and our GM but I feel like know he knew Ohtani wanted to sign with us
He’s def a players’ coach
🥱 just shows Ohtani doesn't keep his word or stand for anything he says. It's a shame that other teams felt the pressure to keep their lips sealed in hopes of helping their chances just to be trolled by this clown. Lol 700 Mil for a DH 😂😂
@@live4themoment94 you sound like the most cupcake casual you could possibly be
@jmk0822 🥱 yeah sure I'm a casual For quoting a guy and expecting him to keep his word. Make it make sense please
I am very happy as a Dodgers fan. Now lets become a dynasty.
A playoff dynasty. 😈
Already dominate the regular season. Now let’s have some deep playoff runs for Ohtani’s sake.
As an angels fan. Im happy ohtani will have a serious chance to win a WS. But he doesn't deserve to be stuck in anahiem. He deserves a team who will actually build a team to win around him. But still Im so sad. Im gonna miss him in an angels uniform.
I think deferred money is the way to go. Whether you are responsible with your money or not, you’re rich for the rest of your life
The virtual hug got me lol great video as always fuzz happy holidays to you and your family I’m still on a Soto high after my Yankees getting him I just hope they lock him up .
Let's GO!!! This is historic!
Personally i'm a sad lifetime angels fan but at the same time am happy for Ohtani and wish him the best.
Not surprised that he choose a deferred salary contract. He never seemed like he cared much about money. He eat, sleep, and breathes baseball and almost nothing else
Not just North American sports history in all sports history. Previously held by Lionel Messi.
If I were an Angels fan I would be FUMING right now because if you knew you weren't going to resign him I would've traded him maybe even before last season started and could've gotten a lot back for him like what the Padres did to Soto. Can't imagine how Mike Trout feels right now!
Arte is a complete tool. He can't make a smart move to save his life. Time for him to move on and let a real owner step in and take them to the next level.
I honestly think Shohei is such a stand up guy that the team didn’t want to do that to him
@@DoubleDash28 but now they not nothing for him so it would’ve made much more sense to trade him.
@@DoubleDash28 It was all Arte's doing. His huge ego couldn't handle it mentally. He just thought he was going to be able to keep him. Ohtani knows that trades are a part of the business and now the Angels will suffer the consequences.
Trout Doesn't Mind He Had A Chance To Leave And He Said I LOVE The Direction Of This Team And Stayed
So freakin happy right now😊
It only made sense the angels wasted enough of his prime
A salary floor needs to happen. With revenue sharing, these small market teams must be at least 1/4 of the QA per active roster spot.
Let go two fuzzy videos in one day
Padres fans here dodgers y'all are smart and are a great team, sad to see him not come to SD but great for baseball
But the Dbacks beat the Dodgers three straight in the playoffs! Would Ohtani change that? Maybe. Maybe not!
$700 million is nothing compared to the money Shohei is gonna generate for the Dodgers.
Exactly. Period.
If the Yanks land Yamamoto, I want to see a Yankees/Dodgers 2025 world series, once Ohtani comes back to the mound and we could get an Ohtani/Yamamoto matchup on the biggest stage in baseball.
Pretty much the only reason to want another Yankees-Dodgers World Series.
700m for a 30 year old DH who had 2 Tommy John surgeries and an oblique injury at the end of last year.
It's all about the marketing and merchandising. They will sell enough Othani jerseys to cover his salary.
30 year old in baseball means nothing
Get Trout out of Anaheim ASAP lol
For real. Time for a rebuild.
First the Juan Soto trade, now this? It’s getting ridiculous here.
As a giants fan I'm devistated.
I bet, so sorry. However I am thrilled I’ll still be able to watch him (since mlb tv blacks out NorCal teams in my viewing area grrrrrrr, total bs)
We’ll never see a guy like this again. Happy for sho, the dodgers and baseball. They’ll put him on the main stage! Trout to Philly tho🎉🎉🎉
As a Dodgers fan JP Hoornstra and Dodgers Nation do not deserve to be associated with the Dodgers name
I'm rooting against Shohei now
As soon as I found out, I went straight to RUclips to look up fuzzy
Fuzzy, respect CT3! He doesn’t stink he’s just not your typical star player
Hey fuzz thanks for uploading
Man if dodgers don’t win . At least 2 World Series with this line up. That would he crazy
We still need pitching so bad, without it we are not going far in the playoffs. . Even with Ohtani
Bro can buy the gards now💀
Even the cheapest teams in MLB are a good bit over $1b now.
Mookie, Freddy & Sho looks like the new Murder's Row!
There should be a salary cap on baseball. The more the players cost the more the tickets cost. If there was a cap then you may be able to reach more people and keep growing the game of baseball. I'm all for players getting paid but why does a person "need" to make $30 million a year to play a game?
This is going to make college kids that play both ways stay both ways. This is absolutely game changing. Everything is going to be different in drafting and development. That two way bucks man...
Yes the one thing i agree about is ohtani was rushed to make this decision. I really do believe that was unfair but also, he had no choice to do so because when you are the #1 fa every team had to put their whole free agency on hold to see where he’s going. I wish ohtani had more time but i understand the rush. Now the rest of fa can go normally and teams know what they have to do now
When I found out of was in complete shock that he got 700m + why we would need him for pitching when we have like 7-8 starters
I think when a single player’s AAV is greater than that of other organizations in said league, I think that’s where I tap out. No way I can buy into the charade that this is a realistically competitive league anymore.
We just had the 5th and 6th seeds make it to the World Series, how is it not a competitive league?
@@premalone8267 It is, it just kinda makes me sick to my stomach to think about how 20 years ago small markets lost their homegrown guys to market forces but in return they got their first 5+ years of service but NOW, dude’s are valued at above the cost of entire rosters? How does that work? Seriously, how can the Guardians (if theoretically sold) be evaluated as being of greater value than Ohtani’s contract if their entire payroll is less his AAV? It represents either a disservice to the pay structure afforded to Guardians players, an abnegation of fiscal responsibility by LA, idk. It kinda reminds me of when bond yields fall over on each other causing collapses. The logic doesn’t match the market if you will.
@@c.s.s.5326 hard to answer all of this because it’s so much.
1. If your argument you’re using the Guardians for example. Did you the Dolan family is MLB 4th richest owner? If they seriously wanted to win they would go out and sign more players however much money it took. Don’t blame the players for accepting more money offered to them, blame the owners for being cheap and not wanted to spend. If your favorite team has bad owners. Don’t support them, go support a team that actually wants to win.
2. The Dodgers aren’t paying Ohtani 70mil AAV, Passan reported that a MAJORITY of his contract will be deferred, ohtani purposely did this because he wants to win and chose to give the Dodgers more financial flexibility. As far as fiscal responsibility. They will receive far more than $700 Million just by simply having ohtani on his team. Ohtani is a god in Japan (just visited it’s insane how much he’s worshipped over there) they’re are going to receive so many sponsorships and merchandise sales just for having him on his team, nevermind what he brings to the field.
If baseball wants to fix its problem make a hard salary floor cap for the cheap owners, it’s not fair to the fans and it’s not fair to the players who are the ones who bring in the revenue.
I figured he would sign with the Dodgers. Blue Jays never had a chance.
I wonder if this means the Angels will try to move trout for a large prospect package
damn, I am speachless.
DODGERS DIDNT PAY ANYONE THE PAST 2 OFFSEASONS(OTHER THAN FREDDIE WHO IS VASTLY UNDER PAID AND FELL INTO THEIR LAPS) JUST FOR THIS MOMENT. WHILE TEAMS LIKE THE PADRES WENT ALL OUT FOR OVERATED PLAYERS LIKE XANDER WE SAVED UP FOR THE ONE WHO IS WORTH IT! EVERYTHING PLAYED OUT AS PLANNED!!!
Except 2 years ago they thought they were getting the pitcher too.
Have fun getting your pee pees slapped by the Dbacks 😂😂😂
@@kevhead1525shohei will pitch again
@hep he will ptich then require a 3rd tommy john . Would that be career ending ? 🤔
The Angels Had It Coming. I Wouldn't Be Surprised If TROUT Leaves Too. $700 Mil Is Crazy Tho, Yet He Is In Cali So He Is Used To Having $ Taken From Him Due To Taxes. Ohtani Was My Dad's Favorite Player (R.I.P Dad) Because Ohtani Pitches & Bats Like Players Did Back When He Was A Youth. Peter Gruber (1 Of The Other WARRIORS Owners) Also Owns Stake In The DODGERS. From A GIANTS Fan This Is Normal For The DODGERS. They Have Always Signed Or Traded For Big Names Yet Failed To Ever Win A Championship In A 162 Game Season. Championship's Can't Be Bought.
Love this video 😊 very fair, absolutely hate the rush of media on Shohei, to be honest, now we see 2 weeks after Ohtani has announced his decision with Dodgers, the free agent market is still not really running, so why the rush?
Boys of Summer 2024! Coming to a ballpark near you! GO BLUE!!!🎉
Yay now stros players can win some MVPs
Many fans complained about Ichiro not hitting long balls must be happy by now.
Good job reporting!
Yesterday the Dodgers were on life support until that plane landed.
He was never going anywhere else.
Merry Christmas to me! I can't wait..
Keep grinding fuzzy truly the goat 🐐
He will almost be a billionaire at the end of his career that's crazy
As a Jays fan I’m in so much pain. Jon Morosi is a fraud
He’s only getting like 340 after deferrals
I found it funny that in almost every highlight shown, the Angels were losing😂😂
Angels are not the dodgers lol
I only noticed Ohtani hitting homers off the White Sox!
fans will be pissed at this. no one is worth this money and it hurts baseball. i see some teams losing money. why would fans pay that much to see a baseball game
That’s so much money
Congratulations to the dodgers as a Chicago Cubs fan I wish him the best also @Fuzzyfromyt keep up the great and awesome content been watching since 2021
The Dodgers are favorites now to win WS no surprise there
I just really hope that with this acquisition, the dodgers can make it past the NLDS Next year.
They need to make a change with the media. This is outrageous. Stop tracking planes and let the players announce where they sign. I hope this is the new standard that players take. Keep things completely private.
Good for Ohtani, I am excited to go see him at Chase Field. As a baseball fan, I hope he stays healthy and plays well.. As a dback fan, I hope he never pitches against the dbacks again lol.
COMPLETELY different with shohei. Hes the unicorn. And his contract was holding up alot of teams in the league with signing other guys. Machado and harper did not hold that up. 700 mill is more than double those guys. Cant compair those 2 to shohei! The media didnt do him dirty at all. Bad take man.
I remember after the WBC Championship Game, Mike Trout said “he won round one”.
Jays fans in shambles rn
1:50 Amen!!
Isn't funny how some people have a problem with a player making this type of money but no problem with the owners having the option to pay this type of money for one player and still be a billionaire.
$70 million a year = 432,098.76 per game.
Ohtani made 40 million in endorsements last year. He doesn't need the money. He just wants the biggest contract in baseball history. The actual money going to him doesn't matter that much.
I knew he was going to go to the dodgers because they were clearly holding back over the last couple years waiting for him so they'd be able to offer a record breaking deal that no one could match, but dang! I didn't think it would be that much
That’s a lot of money.
Nomo #16 Ohtani #17 the legacy continues in Dodger blue!!!!
As an angels fan, this is probably the nail in the coffin for me… I genuinely don’t know how much longer I can take. I hope Mike Trout continues his greatest and the youngbloods coming up ball out. As for the organization… piss off.
DODGERS ON TOP😎
Fuzzy you are a goat for making another video just !
As a Cardinals fan, it’s definitely not fair.
I do have to say this lowers my interest in watching mlb, ill watch in sept or oct instead of being in all year.
The dodger’s have a printing press. That kind of money. Wow.
