The movie was amazing, but I don't think the average viewer can fully see the absolute heroic feat these people pulled off, how close to dangerous situations they got, and how their efforts were not just a gag, but some kind of essential truth reveal. I'd love to see a documentary that could convey this!
I mean, it wasn't necessarily "dangerous". Worst thing that happens was an arrest for trespassing or something like that, and the production would have certainly paid legal fees.
It's not like we're in a country where dissidents go missing.
She deserves an Oscar and also to have her name spelled correctly in the graphic!

When you can make people roll on the floor from laughter and fight to hold back tears in the span of 15 minutes as a newcomer in her first international production, it's obvious that you are more than just a decent actress. We'll have to wait for her next movies to know whether she is a superstar, but threre is no doubt that she might be, and for a young unknow bulgarian that is quite a spectacular breakthrough...
Pretty sure that is not the criteria for an Oscar.

That, and ...Ov/Off are actually Cossack traditions, but Russia blended all those together when they tried to take over Asia. Ova comes from the Greek/Latin word for Egg, basically "From an Egg from Bakal."

I just looked at her Oscar competition. She should win, instead of an actress from * insert slow, boring drama here *. I mean, I know that's what the Oscars snorts off its high horse along with its coke, but it'd be nice to change that up. The other four actors in her category are all from dramas--one was bad, one was boring, one is overdone, Minari was pretty good. I hope Maria wins.

It was filmed but not put into the movie. Did not fit the story after COVID changed the script massively.
