- Instructional video, how to replace a light switch handle with the one that has cruise controll in it. This video was done on Opel Astra G MK4 74kw 2L TDiesel. It should also be similar on Vauxhall, vectras zafiras ant other models of similar year. Enjoy.

Thanks so much for this tutorial as I own a 2003 Astra with cruise control that I have blown a Piston ring in and just bought a second hand Astra that does not have cruise control and I will now bcoz of your video will take the cruise control out and put it in my purchased Astra. Many many thanks as I loved having cruise control. 👍🏻🇦🇺

If it doesn't work just with the switch, you might have to remap your ecu. You might also need to install some hardware to the pedlals.
@Immortal Cluch and brake pedal switches that turn off cc. If a connector is present at your steering wheel it might be that those switches on the pedals are also present. If they are not, you'll have to install them.

hello video is great. congratulations .. after installing cruise control, does it need to be activated from the computer? is there a need for this will it work automatically? my vehicle is 2000 elegans, automatic model.
It should work with jus installation of switch.. You should try searching for a 4 pin connector as I showed in the installation video. If it is present, it should be jus a matter of light switch. If it's not, then it might need a little more work.

In my case I didn't need to activate it. It was just plug n play. In some cases You might have to activate it.
Hello, thank you for this instructional video. However, after installing my new indicator switch into my Astra G (also a 2 liter DTI, Y20DTH for engine model if I'm correct), it doesn't work. OPCOM shows that the Clutch and Brake switches are present and functional, but the Cruise Control switch for O(off) is always active, and other buttons are being ignored. Do I need to go remap my ECU for this, or am I missing something?
Yes, You might have to remap your ECU, but firstly check connections of the switch and O (off) button, maybe it is defective.

Hi, check if your car has cluch and brake switches installed. They are visible under the pedals. If they are, then cc should be working fine. If not, you might have to buy additional hardware and remap your ecu. 😉

I don't know. Maybe in the CPU.
Your car would have had cruise control initially and the stalk has been changed. Only cars with cruise control had the wiring loom, it runs through the ECU and is not present in any car without it being standard. So you can't just fit the stalk and get cruise control unfortunately.
Thanks for information. You may be right. I don't know why, but a lot of cars that I had to deal with had all the wiring, but no control on the switch. I always propose to check the wiring before buying the handle. :)

Hi, the accelerator throttle pedal is electrically controlled, so nothing else needs to be installed in my case. The CC switch comunicates witk ECU and sets speed as it was sent electrically from pedal.

you need to activate this from tester or something?
In My case it was just plug n play. You have to check if Your car has all the hardware required for cruise control. If only a swich is missing, then it should work without any activation.
and did you program the lever at all or its automatic ?

In my car it was just plug and play. I heard that in most such cars cruise contrall is built in from the factory, but the handle with controls not in every one.

@@tomik499 You should take off a cover behind the steering wheel and search for a connection.

@@tomik499 Most likely. You can also check under brake and cluch pedals. There should be switches that turn off cruise control when pedals are pressed.

It is electronic throttle body :)

You need to allow cruise control with the diagnostics.

What kind of throttle valve do you have in your car? Mechanical or electric?
Cause I'm thinking if it's Mechanical how the cruise control will operate if the valve opening is controlled depending on how we press the gas pedal.

As much as į know. If that 4 pin connector is not built in it would be quite difficult. You will need not only that switch, but also a cluch detector connection as well as brake pedal connection. You might also need to program your computer, to make cruise control possible. I do not really know, but in some cars all thees assets are present, and in some - not. Maybe it's something with engine code.
I have Opel Meriva 2004 , 1.7 cdti and its not working for me, i have done everything the same as you on this video ..
Sad to hear. But astra and meriva differs and it's 5 years apart, so something might be different.

Hi, I am not familiar with this type of engine. Try looking for a connection behind your steering wheel. If it is present, then it should justbe plug n play. But if there is not, then you might need to put in some work.
