If your argument starts and ends with anyone supporting Hamas and cheering for what happened on October 7th, I understand. But if it's meant to justify the "force of nature" styled terror being done in retaliation, I'm shocked, as a subscriber of yours for a while. Everyone has different morals, so moral arguments aside, what the Israeli government is doing is just as much a violation of international law as what Hamas did. The indiscriminate murder of innocent civilians is not justifiable according to international human rights laws. I was disgusted by October 7th for the same reason I'm disgusted by what has happened since.
If the mainstream narrative was that all the conflicts you mentioned resulted in the justifiable, indiscriminate murders of civilians, with the funding and blessings of the US government, I'm sure many of the same people protesting for Palestinians would be just as engaged. Just as enraged. This should not be reduced to an "oppressed vs oppressor" narrative, regardless of its applicability. Israel has the right to defend itself, but not at the cost of over 12,000 civilian lives, while making no distinction between Palestinian civilians and Hamas combatants. Not at the cost of the substantial civilian infrastructure destroyed, or the over 1.5 million civilians who have been forced to relocate so that North Gaza could be leveled.
There ARE antisemitic opportunists latching onto this moment, using it for their own objectives. But those focused on the deaths of the innocent are not antisemitic for criticizing the government carrying out these crimes, no more than I'm an Islamophobe for recognizing the events of October 7th as a crime against humanity as well.

My argument doesn’t start and end with Oct 7 was bad, but it starts there. You have a right to think what you want about me, but I have to get facts in order. This isn’t a both sides are just as bad issue. There’s no evidence Israel is targeting indiscriminately or trying to hurt civilians. They’re getting hurt in the process. That’s not against international law. Hamas is using children as human shields and no, we don’t have to care about others children as much as our own. They are warning people to leave, which most countries won’t do. Social media is not being fair on this issue, nor is the international community.

@@MayeMuses If there was a member of Hamas in an apartment building full of civilians in the United States you wouldn’t accept it if the US military destroyed the entire apartment building just to kill that member of Hamas. If the US did that instead of taking a more precise approach you would accuse them of not caring about the civilians in that building. Which is what most people are pointing to as the evidence that they are indiscriminately targeting civilians. There’s also more evidence that they are targeting Palestinian civilians because they’ve been bombing and establishing settlements in the West Bank where Hamas is not located.

The human shields argument is ridiculous. If someone has a hostage do you go through the hostage to get to them? No. So if it’s true that they’re using people as shields it’s still not justified to kill those people.

  • @meccalovett4616

To clarify, the reason why so many people support Palestine regardless of their more conservative ideologies is because advocacy of other’s human rights doesn’t stop because they supposedly don’t agree with lgbtq rights, women’s rights, etc. Not only does that boil all of them down to being a single monolith who all think and feel the same about every issue, but queer Palestinians and queer Muslims still exist. Not to mention these are still literal human beings.
Moreover, Israel still very much has infrastructure, electricity, normal society, while Palestine is being leveled to the ground, people trapped under rubble, and entire bloodlines erased. People are actively mocking their eradication. The Israeli government is intentionally committing war crimes against civilians and officials have boasted about offing every single last Palestinian.
It’s also not true that people aren’t talking about other crimes against humanity that are happening in other parts of the world. This has sparked conversation about other tragedies such as what’s going on in Congo. To the point where even celebrities such as Dua Lipa havs questioned the CEO of Apple himself about unethical mining practices and exploitation of conflict in the area. People sharing tips on how to avoid purchasing new Apple products etc.
Lastly although antisemitism has reared its ugly head in some spheres, so too has Islamophobia. Turns out when two groups of different religions fight each other, you get ignorance from both ends of the extreme. But to allude to antisemitism being the reason this situation got so big is a bit disappointing. People are upset because yet again we’re witnessing a colonial state manifest destiny its way through a land that was occupied by someone else already. When you have a government that’s actively trying to unalive an entire group of people, what else can you call it other than a g*nocide? Anyone would protest against that

@@MayeMuses They're not using human shields. That makes no sense. Israel, and the international community that has been involved on the ground for years, have produced no evidence of these so called massive interconnected network of tunnels in Palestine nor Egypt. That would be an incredibly hard secret to hold given the amount of people needed to create such a system. Israel used this exact same human shield argument in the last skirmish with Hamas, only that time it was every school (a war crime) and apartment building they demolished were secretly Hamas headquarters hiding underground tunnels.
Hamas is a monster that Israel helped create. Period. They chose the worst option as a means of eventually either controlling Gaza or justifying its total elimination.
“Hamas, to my great regret, is Israel’s creation,” Avner Cohen, a former Israeli religious affairs official who worked in Gaza for more than two decades, told the Wall Street Journal in 2009. Back in the mid-1980s, Cohen even wrote an official report to his superiors warning them not to play divide-and-rule in the Occupied Territories, by backing Palestinian Islamists against Palestinian secularists." theintercept.com/2018/02/19/hamas-israel-palestine-conflict/
This is all beside the very point that what Israel suffered on Oct 7 it has done to Palestine almost every day since 1947. Hamas has been accused on using human shields by a country that has been arming illegal settlers and annexing Palestinian land for them to live on who then getting into altercations with those Palestinians and are absolved when they shoot them to death.

Whether or not you believe it’s intentional (judging by the Israeli government’s words and beliefs, I have a hard time believing it’s anything but intentional) what stands is that the death toll the Israeli government has inflicted on this group within just one month is astronomical. It’s completely reckless and unethical. Not to mention, shutting off water, electricity, etc. is quite literally a war crime. Because that doesn’t just affect Hamas, but innocent people as well. I’m sorry, but if Hamas was the only problem, literally any sane person would know that as a global superpower, this act of retaliation is a complete dumpster fire and a clear indication of just how sinister colonial states can be. It's always good to hear you're take on issues because they're always unique but I have to disagree with you on this video. First, I believe that Hamas is solely responsible for what's happening in Gaza, they full well understood the power of their enemy and still attacked them with no plan or care for their own people. In wars that predated ww2, Israel's response would be justified but in today's climate it's too cruel to justify. After ww2 the international community had to write new articles to protect civilians from mass casualty during war, specifically children. All of your mentions of war ending tactics predate that convention and is why so many people (including the UN and Humanitarian groups like the red cross) are against Israel's tactics. Anybody with sense would agree that Israel has a right to defend itself but it does not have a right to cut off fuel, food, and clean drinking water to a territory it controls. This isn't a war between two powerful nations like the US vs Japan but a retaliation on terrorist group inside of a controlled closed border territory that Israel has control over.
11,000+ people have been killed (alot of them innocent meaning regardless of view points they are civilians not soldiers) with over 3,000 of them being children over the span of a month, no matter how you look at it that's a lot of people regardless of the size of the population. In today's world I don't think it's too outlandish to say that we should find other ways to deradicalize a people without always resorting to extreme violence to complete the goal. Especially when it isn't a country you're fighting against but a closed border territory that Israel has the right to control what goes in and out, as well as if it has food, water, and fuel. There were better ways to deal with terrorist and Israel chose a very violent method to go with. And to your point of who takes lunch breaks in a war, in the Battle of Mogadishu while the Americans and Somalis were fighting, a donkey walked in between the battlefield. He walked by twice and both times the Somalis and Americans both agreed to a ceasefire to let the donkey pass and started fighting again once it was safely out of the way. There can be moments of humanity in war but it doesn't make it any less cruel.

But that’s not even the most important concern right now, the poll could very well be accurate, it could also be IDF propaganda. To me it’s far more important to point out that Hamas was elected in 2006 with less than a *majority of the population and the citizens have not even had the chance to vote them out since then. I believe at least half of the current population was not even near voting age at that time, let alone the many who weren’t even alive in 2006.
The response to 10/7 is collective punishment by definition, you are not even disputing that, only attempting to justify it. Collective punishment is a war crime under the Geneva convention. An opinion poll does not change that.

It's sounds to me as though you believe this to be a just response. The fact that Israeli intelligence knew about the attack way before it happened and could have thus prevented it should perhaps have given off some red flags, if even one. However, it has been very clear that Israel has the support and the ability to make things right more so than Palestine. That's if you assume that Israel was the aggressor for the past 80 years, and they weren't. The 1948 war was defensive, and there were pogroms before that even, most notably in 1929. They were driven out of the rest of the Middle East as well. Also, at the end of WWI, numerous new states were formed from the collapsing empires. I don't see how Israel would have been much different except the constant hostility they faced from their neighbors.
Honestly, I feel the Palestinians have been used by other nations and causes as a tool, and no one really thinks of their best interest. Now, the population is unwilling to share the land, and they don't have a path to victory. This is geo-political yass-lighting from people with no skin in the game, rn the "free Palestine" protesters who are asking them to die for generations rather than accept the inevitable, like hundreds of peoples have done. They're are positioned the same way American Settlers had the advancement of guns and explosives vs the bows and arrows equipped by American Indians, including the decades of subjection to a population/"death by a thousands cuts" where they inevitably create their own monster too create the justification of a war they wanted from the start that would allow them to wipe them out. All because they didn't worship the mightier power and allow them to take land they already occupied because why would they.
Hamas knew they could never win any war, but they could win attention and expose just how sadistic their subjugators are under the optics of a hyper-connected post pandemic world where the extend of humanitarian crimes and the west's involvement couldn’t go unnoticed, unaddressed, and unpolarized. It began in the early 1900s and reached a huge climax in 1947. Eastern "anti-semitism" is NOT the same as western antisemitism. For us it is about an illegal occupation of a Land where people lived before western colonialist forces decided to "solve" their 2000 year old western anti-semitism by forcing the Js onto another people they had no positive feelings for as well. For europeans it is about 2000 years of pogroms, conspiracy theories, blaming pests and economic collapses, blaming the "Great Replacement" onto the Js, claiming them to be under-humans and that exterminating them is therefore "okay." Anti-Semitism has different meanings depending on the perspective and angle it comes from.

Maybe the cult research is clouding your view on reality.

This video is specifically about Gaza/Israel. This is not about oppression around the world. One problem I point out is that people try to conflate all these issues, and somehow all of their frustrations w the world are taken out on this situation, specifically Israel. Israel comes to (unfairly) represent all injustice and that does not hold up to any scrutiny.
If you have a problem w the video, point out a specific time stamp and question the research.
Also, I specifically point out that the “free Palestine” crowd conveniently does not care about other injustices around the world, esp if it messes w their little conveniences, like iPhones.

@@MayeMuses There's a lot of generalizations, conspiracies, & biases on your end, even in this response.
You generalize the meaning of "Free Palestine'' w/o going beyond the hashtag and algorithms. You mention one side not accepting, or being open to, LGBTQIA+ and Women Rights, when all the countries involved process and create laws from a patriarchal religious viewpoint (US included). You say what Israel is doing is a "force of nature", but then condemn their retaliator as if they are worse. It's like you missed where this all started and focused on shaming the people responding to tyranny.
You minimize the history of how Palestine got colonized by the west in order to create Israel, & how the west is still supporting Israel to completely wipe out Palestine, as if the Israeli government and its supporters are innocent in this all. When has the occupancy of indigenous land ever been positive? Or do you believe it's meant to be because you’re Zionist and this form of colonization is cool?
You go in and out of generalizing and minimizing the idea of war, stigmatizing the people who you believe aren’t educated enough on the issue, then excusing and minimizing the actions of the Western and Israeli government for their involvement in the Colonization of Palestine, then deflect on the other countries that also want a piece of Palestine, and on top of it, you shame the people of Palestine, other Jewish people, and those outside of Palestine for fighting and supporting the liberation of Palestine. I mean, WTF? I believe you’re the one conflating all these separate issues as if they are one in the same. I can go on, and on, but you'll probably move the goal post as you did in the entire video. So I’ll stop here.
If you don't care about people losing their land and believe it’s their fault for not being a “force of nature”, then say that. But you're view point's very sloppy, misinformed, biased, and callous altogether. Here's to hoping you do better, but I won't hold my breath.

@@ChrisGoldie It's truly unfortunate how miseducated people (including Maye) are about this genocide of Palestinians. It's a deep history of White Supremacy.
People aren't aware that Palestine isn't the only country Zionist Israel has their claws in.

wtffff. I did not expect this from her. This is hurting me as I love her takes. Ignorance is the only forgiveness here. If you are aware of everything and side with Israel, you’re as close to evil as it gets in the real world. The real world is nuanced, but this situation is the closest to binary as I have seen.

It makes sense that Dara Horn's collection of essays People Love Dead Jews has really taken off this year. It feels in step with the world telling the Israelis not to fight Hamas. Rather, it seems to me, the world would prefer Hamas destroys the country of Israel and leave a monument memorializing the once glorious Jewish nation-state. Yep, that's what everything I've seen on the internet seems to suggest.

Maye first congrats on the new baby. I was wondering why your videos haven't been in my feed so went searching. I'm sad to have found your take on this though. Egypt let Israel know about Oct. 7th over a year before it happened. Israel was ramping up destruction on Palestinian citizens in 2023 and way earlier than that. The response we knew was going to be ugly and it has been. Anyone who cares about humanity can see Israel's response on Palestinian citizens is genocidal and the aim is to clear the people of Palestine from the area. About Hamas, Naziyahoo said Hamas needs to be funded in order block a Palestinian state. Also Israel is behind so much that wrong with Africa as is the US. You can't say they are only responsible for a few things when taking resources from Africa and Latin America have been things they've done for decades and that hasn't stopped. Look at Haiti even. Look at Puerto Rico who can't get statehood but can get US citizens colonizing the land there. Sad on this one Maye as someone who has been watching you for a good while. Zionism is Racism. ✌🏾
