When a 66 yr. old Canadian who grew up listening to Jim Reeves loves Ren, then you know this man is special. He is so talented, so unique, absolutely love his art. Love and respect, kid, hog fam Canada 🇨🇦 ❤
Melanie Safka was a 60’s/70’s singer. She had hits with Brand new key and Look what they’ve done to my song. Very unusual voice. Love your reaction - as always.
When I was kid in England I remember Brand New Key by Melanie was a hit on the radio, I hated it. Didn't know then that 50 years later she would be sampled by this guy called Ren into a song about depression and sickness that Iabsolutely love. There's an old video on YT of Melanie on the Johnnie Carson show singing this song, it's good
This song makes me cry every single time. How can somebody in such physical pain still care so much about the world; I've found pain to be very distracting for me.
Karma! Found your channel because of Ren. Like attracts like. Always know that you doing what you are is reaching people across the world in a life that would never connect you to them, but your doing something, saying something and being honest whilst doing it helps. You help me, Ren helps me as do many more. Doctors told me I was suffering with depression when I actually have asperger syndrome. We are all different but we need to remember to be connected. You remind me of this so thank you :)
Hi Mrs R, great song from Ren, my fav Melanie song is People on the front row. When I was a kid Brand new key was played on the radio so much it drove me mad😂
@MrsRealistic Hope you enjoyed the song. Thank you for reacting to it. These are two of my favorites by Ren. I can't listen to one without listening to the other. Be well.
I remember Melanie's music. I have some of her stuff on my hi-fi which occasionally pops up when I play the tracks on random. Check out her version of Goodbye Ruby Tuesday by the Stones. I love her. Fun fact : "She was one of only three solo women who performed at the Woodstock festival in 1969". That is kinda cool
That British humor is fantastic. Absolutely watched Monte Python for hours. "Life of Brian" and" In Search of the Holy Grail" are must watches for British humor lovers. Keep up the great reactions. ❤
I have seen them numerous times as the child of an "Englishman". I was bummed when I saw that they can only be watched now on Netflix (we don't have Netflix)... because I wanted to introduce my kids to it!
REN is indeed stronger than he knew. He has a heart as big as the Sky & his love & concern for other people is huge. Melanie Safka was one of my favourite vocalists, along with Joni Mitchell & Joan Baez, when I heard this song by REN it meant even more than it had originally, and that was a lot. REN is so, so special. As are you, Mrs Realistic, thank you for your reactions. Love from Annie, in Cornwall, UK🙂🌸
Thank you LOL! Monty Python was a go to when I was a kid. I was introduced to it as a young kid by my dad (who is from Wolverhampton) and I'll never forget, "Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!" & "I fart in your general direction," had me rolling on the floor when I was 10. LOL! It's forever seared in my memory. I have to show it to my kids! (By the way, our youngest's name is Seth)
As Ren is not a Canadian and paying into our system, he would be paying for all of it. So yeah, specialized treatment, accommodation for the better part of a year. A lot of money.
A lot of specialized treatment isn't even covered of you live there. I had to pay for chiropractic and massage therapy when I was pregnant with my second child because it wasn't an as "necessary"...even tho I had a constant knot on my lower back making it hard to walk. But if I had gone to a doctor and gotten muscle relaxers it would have been covered. 😒
@@MrsRealistic True. If you have extended coverage through work you can get that kind of stuff covered but if you don't ... then yeah, you pay for it. It has changed and I guess it depends on your coverage. Used to have to get a doctors referral to get the appt. covered. Now for the most part (at least in BC) you do not have to do that. There are limits on the number of visits but you can just book it. OF course the coverage also has a limit on the per visit cost. Anyway I shudder to think what all this is costing Ren. And he ain't exactly living in a hovel either!! 🤣
@@MrsRealistic many, may years ago my friends and I found ourselves truly up the creek in France. No transport and no money. The look of compassion on the French witnesses of our misfortune melted into disturbed countenances as we started to sing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life". I don't suppose the crucifixion poses helped.
@@MrsRealistic What we would have given to not have to cheer ourselves up! But the one good thing about not being able to afford to do things in comfort (or at least in the standard way) is that, inevitably, more memories are made. Life was both tougher and, at the same time, richer for it.
would you be willing to react to some of Ren's interviews? i think everybody would enjoy hearing your thoughts and commentary on longer form content even if you had to split it into parts. p.s. love the channel thank you for all the work you put into the uploads and for all your genuineness and honesty 🖤
Love the reaction. You have to check out Ren's new song off his "sick boi" album. (Seven Sins), it is the first one on the album and the song is fire. I just assumed you did or are doing Money game 3, that is his masterpiece.
@@MrsRealistic Nice, I will be watching for it. Ren did say in a twitch stream this was the last money game. He said all he needed to say about that. I'm guessing he doesn't want to beat a dead horse with a message that will just start to get redundant and get ignored after a while. Like the Jehovah Witnesses... 🤣
Thanks for acknowledging her but I wouldn't call Melanie's track an addition to this song. It'd say it is the spine of it. Please consider reacting to this clip of Melanie performing it solo in 1972 ruclips.net/video/Yf_HaZLZ6Gs/видео.html

So true! It baffles me for sure!
Ren's 8-year-old tune is top quality as all his work is . Never disappoints
No it never does. His music is timeless! 😊🙌
Fantastic Melanie Safka. 'Lay Down' for example
Thank you!
This is my favourite Ren song and it is rarely reacted to. Thanks for that
I'm glad I was able to hear it as well! Thanks! 😁👍
There is a strange mix of vulnerability and strength in Ren - extraordinary man.
Indeed he is!
Melanie was the first solo female performer to have 3 songs in the top 40 at the same time.
That's so awesome! 🙌

Wow no way!! His knowledge of musical genres is amazing!
The other 2 solo woman artists at Woodstock were Joan Baez and Janis Joplin - so she was in pretty good company !@@MrsRealistic
It's so good to s someone take the time to explore Ren's early material.
