better upgrade its caster block, stub axle and steering block to trx aluminum. Thats what i did to my stampede 2wd. It will make it more durable. Planning to get either rustler vxl or bandit vxl. And still undecided between the 2.
Hey JT... Im hoping you can help me on this one. I have the brushed bandit, I also have an extra 3s esc and motor laying around.... if I throw that setup in her would I have to upgrade the drive train or is it the same drive train as the vxl version? (My drive shafts are plastic)
Castor blocks and king pins, the weakest link in the whole trx 2wd lineup, imo. I don’t usually recommend aluminum, but the castor blocks are one part that most definitely benefits from a quality aluminum upgrade. Rpm plastic is to soft for that application I’m my experience, it flexes even easier than stock (even though it doesn’t snap as quickly) and allows the kingpin to bend all the easier.
lol I've done that a few times... those plastic traxxas caster blocks seem to break really easily. Next time it happens I think I'll go for the aluminum ones.
See a lot of people asking about speed. Here is a site that will give you a good theoretical top speed. www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/top_speed.html For transmission options, both will be listed as Slash/Stampede/Rustler selection for Bandit. make sure to leave final gear ratio alone, and stock spur is 87 with pinion being 25 (memory may be off). ** *You do not have to select a spur from the list, you can simply type in the amount of teeth. Same goes with motor (although it does not hurt to find the correct motor if available)*** Then select cell count, and voltage. I usually start with 2 cell and max lipo voltage (4.2 max). Then pick an appropriate 2.2 tire, and forget about the last two options. Hit calculate and BAM!!! You have a good rough estimate. Did this with my Stampede VXL 2wd running 5400 kV and stock gearing. Said it would 49mph, however, with some "ballooning" we reached 53mph - on 2s of course.
I have identified the cause of your crash , you started braking exactly at the same point as the previous runs however your pinion gears have started to fail , preventing you from breaking I mean at 2:07 you can hear your gears grinding sounds
Dang, I HATE how cheap the plastics are on these Traxxas vehicles, I have a Bandit also, broke an A-arm, 2 caster blocks, and countless more cheap plastic parts. There's nothing to really do except buy aluminum, or Better Quality Plastic Parts...
Really? I mean what do you think will happen when you crash into a curb lol. Never broke anything on mine, but then again I hardly crash my cars. Guys got like $6 in broken parts 😆
I just upgraded my Traxxas skully to brushless! It's awesome! I just posted a running video today if you want to check it out! Those castor blocks are weak, integy has some cheap aluminium ones though.
the only thing I hate about rc videos is when u can hear there remote. I don't see what good it does slamming the steering or throttle on the controller. of ur steady with it then u wouldn't make all that noise. but what do I know.
John Thomas that's exactly how mine broke except I broke it indoors in a race track in the one beam that had no foam hehe... anyways I would like to know how much it cost you to fix that side because I haven't been able to go out and fix it
' i have one traxxas bandit... i put both side long suspension arms # 3655 to bandit from # 2750R... look much better # 3655 than short suspension arms # 2750R
You’re the only person who runs their trucks in the first minute of the video. Thank you.

What did you go with? I'm currently facing the same decision.
Prodigal J me too
Get the bandit so werf if you like speed nothing else to it
I hope yall got the bandit

Same drive train
Thank you brother

I think you should get some integy aluminum parts. Like steering and castor blocks.
Are the wheels the same offset front and back?
Just got my Rustler VXL a couple days ago, the next day i put in the Lipo, and on the first run i broke the Caster Block also.
I also unboxed my ruster VXL tonight and 10 minutes later i also broke the caster block.. they are quick
Guy Goodwin Ahh that sucks...yea seems like a weak point..get the aluminum ones, or rpm ones.
I agree , Thanks for the advice i will look into that
how much ground clearance stock
what lipo is it?
Obviously a 3s lipo
ouch... does the plastic break a little easier when its cold out?
Benny Turbo yea, it does
John Thomas what motor gear did you use
Cant remember
OK . my motor burns up
Hey Jaytee! Thanks for making a vid of the Bandit, I don’t own one but would love too soon. Do you like the Arrma vehicles better than Traxxas?
Can you please tell me what tires you are using. I couldn't really hear. Thank you:)
Proline trenchers for mini revo
why the tire broken
You should put wd-40 on the plastics, a lot more flex, less cracks, breaks. It basically just makes the plastic soft, so they flex alot better.
lol is that an anomaly because that was really slow
Ugh... shit happens
By the way, do you know good street tires for the traxxas slash ?
mein Name ist wurst u looking for slicks or some with tread?
It happens to the best of us man! :)
Nice! She was movin while it lasted!
I know, right...haha

would the vxl work on an old bandit rustler?
yes
make sure that you get metal gears the plastic ones will break
+XxdarkwolfxX ooh okay thanks
what is the top speed of the bandit vxl and is it a good car
+Mike Fath oh man...so many factors way into the speed
3s lo gives a 70mph speed
Hey doc,Good run until the crash, lol.
Lol
Slash is the best. Have big body covering wheels, zero crashes and broke parts
What are the tires
+baum Lp proline ones for mini revo
+JayTee RC Thanks i have this car to,a nd my tires are in 20 minutes destroyed😂

The Hermit Crab 27 true
My friend drove it 1 time never used it since parts are to much of a pain

I want a buggy next, but this is too small

I bought a used bandit with a 4s system but it’s all philips and the transmission I THOUGHT was garbage but it’s the driveshafts
Andrew York, what's wrong with Philips?
That same thing happened to me when I crashed it into a fence so I had to upgrade the the whole front end
Eat sleep drag race
Same just happened today

Wow the cold weather really makes parts easy to break! It didn't even hit anything!
Hahahaha...it sucks
John Thomas yeah sure does
Unfortunately it s all part of the hobby! Its not as bad as smashing a plane straight into the ground on its maiden flight! Those hurt the worst!
Sweet buggy JT !
tks
Sorry you had a breakage.
Joe Schmoe stuff happens :)
Caster block was the first thing I broke
you need a wheelie bar
Connor Leblanc lol...what is that on the back of it
connor white probably cause he has a 4s lypo battery
I crashed my traxxas bandit 2 days after I got it, broke the front bulkhead.......
Ik they break too easily.
Story of my Life 😂
👍
Gutted mate not much tho
Son Hall lol
ouch
I know, ht had the parts so he is fixed now
John Thomas that's exactly how mine broke except I broke it indoors in a race track in the one beam that had no foam hehe... anyways I would like to know how much it cost you to fix that side because I haven't been able to go out and fix it
