I prefer wpgtk, it's like pywal on steroids. Because it uses pywall as engine, but you can modify on UI the palette and also create custom gtk icons and theme if you want. Great video😍☺️ [edit : I think that if it uses pywal as engine for palette you can maintain all your config in this video]
I just discovered your channel via your last post on /r/unixporn, and I'm pleased I did. I'm just finally getting into tiling WM and ricing my Linux (I used Cinnamon for years, and actually themed it to my liking but I really want to give Polybar a try, and probably will go i3+polybar as a starter), and you basically confirmed the worries I had about the usability of pywal - it looks super impressive, sexy, but for me the deal breaker is having term colors not matching what they are supposed to be (I want the green to be somewhat greenish, and red somewhat reddish... not all blue, or the green being and and the red being blue, etc.). I even wonder if maybe there is a backend to pywal that would do that, but still pick colors that "go well" with the wallpaper - at least for the terminal colors.
I'm unsure about a pywal back-end, but you can always try wpgtk and see if that gets you a bit closer to what you want. Don't want to be that guy, but I do also have a video about that, if you're interested in it: ruclips.net/video/ykFDowak9Zw/видео.html
@@makc Haha funny that you talk about it, cause I literally discovered wpgtk today and yeah, looks interesting. I'll go watch this video of yours... and subscribe to your channel too :)
Really like your videos helped me take the plunge into a window manager, did you have any issues getting pywal or technically wal to set the wallpaper in awesomewm. For some reason I can get it to change the color scheme but not the wallpaper. I also tried wpgtk as well same thing. Just didn’t know if there was a bug that was introduced recently and if you are still using it and have issues. I found a few posts but not much info with no real resolution.
Are you using feh or wal to set the wallpaper. I was using wal the whole time. You might try swapping between the two. Maybe one will work and the other won’t.
@@makc thanks for the reply! I was using wal but good point maybe I can trigger the color scheme with wal and change the wallpaper with feh. I will try it out when I get home. Thanks!
So after watching the video I have this question. Is a blended scotch, like the one you thoroughly reviewed on the video, as good as a decent budget single malt scotch?
Depends. Most blends have a lot of grain whisky in them (like Monkey Shoulder/ Dewers ext.). There’s a few blends that are just blends of nothing but single malts (Johnnie Walker Green Label is one), so those are basically just a single malt. The Double Black has some grain whisky, and some single malt - I personally think it walks the line between being “drinkable”, and interesting really well. If it’s my money, I’ll by an Ardbeg or a Laphroiag, over a more expense blend every time.
You went from fully transparent to full blur. And honestly blur is always better than completely transparent. Have been using pywal as well myself. I changed the colorz backend file a little bit so as to get 16 different colors because otherwise pywal by default give 8 colors repeated twice which is not that good ig. Nice video 👍
Hey! I started using pywal after your last video and it would've been better if you did this video before lol. Anyways, is there any particular reason that you switched to ranger from vifm as your file manager?
Great vid, from a great guy. Solid edit and I look forward to the next one

I'll have to check it out.
Thx for watching!

I've found the channel of a whisky drinker who uses Linux. I may have to subscribe!
How did you get the palette to apply to your terminal prompt and input though???? I couldn't figure it out for the life of me.
It's a great applications
Will use it for a while

@@makc Hey thanks man this was actually helpful. Loving the whisky talk, please keep it up :P
heyyo, u can do ci" in vim to change something inside the double quotes... same thing like ci{ or ci( or ci-anything else :)
Thanks!
Awesome. Thx for watching!
Great videos you have been a big help with me learning to rice.
How do i make it so that the color scheme saves? Everytime I open a new terminal the color scheme doesn't save
RTFM. You have to add lines to your bashrc because it only applies them to the currently active terminal.
Great video! Thanks.
Great comment! Thanks.

I’ll have to try it with 16 colors instead of 8.

Not really. I think the image preview required less set up in ranger. I like both a lot.
Thanks for watching.
