It’s so great to stumble on this. I played on Atlantic back in the earliest days of UO and it felt like such a special, open world in those days. It sounds like we had kinda a similar experience and I do miss it. This took me back! I did some PVP and everything but I was always more interested in crafting. I can’t even count how many times I must have made a new character who just ran between Minoc and Vesper and did nothing but crafting skills. It just felt really satisfying. We were on the same server probably at some of the same days - wonder if we ever crossed paths! Thanks for the upload.
I played a lot from around 2001 until sometime after 2004. I am not too sure when I actually quit playing, but my account is still active. I never did cancel it so logging in is like a time capsule of everything I collected and placed about 20 years ago. I was in a fairly well known guild and was fairly well known across the server myself. If someone PvPed on Atlantic they almost certainly ran into me at some point and if someone did anything in Doom they certainly did because I spent almost all of my time there. I may upload some more videos on it soon. I have been a bit busy with life but now that the weather is changing I have a lot more time to focus on RUclips.
@@asmerica awesome, would love to see more. I played from 97 to somewhere around 03, then did private shards off and on for a few years. No one would remember me, but a buddy of mine played as Cloud Strife and Lemina and played for a long time after I left. He was in some guild that I think was a big deal and did some server war stuff with Chesapeake as “AvC.” UO will always be a cool memory to me. Nice to go down memory lane.
It was a lot of fun back in the day but they sort of took away some of what made it good. I feel like enhanced communication features like general chat sort of detract from the whole vibe that used to be there. I remember you used to go to certain hubs to communicate, but it seems like they are pretty dead now. I need to get my UOAssist updated or hop on the enhanced client sometime.
I met a lot of my closest gaming friends through Ultima Online through the years. I definitely miss the old days in it. No other game has captured my attention in quite the same way.
I think I may have made a character on it at one point, but I primarily played Atlantic from the beginning. There is a book series called Eden's Gate by Edward Brody that is somewhat based on events that happened to him while playing Ultima Online. You may enjoy it.
