am I the only one who loved the movie?? The first time i watched it at the cinema,i cried all the way through it ,I felt so sorry for the characters and felt every emotion, yes it was different to the stage show, which i grew up watching, but there is somethings that you can do in movies that you cant do on stage and there is things you can do on stage that would work in movies.I liked that they tried to make it more realistic and the singing wasnt 100% but for me that added to the feel of the movie.Thats just my opinion there is no right or wrong answer if you didnt like it fair enough if you did then great, but I will always have a special attachment to the 10th Anniversary concert because that what my Gran used to play all the time
I didn't mind the movie UNTIL I saw the Les Mis stage production. OMG so much better live!! The cast was 100x better than the film cast. Now I don't like the movie version much at all.
When she said they couldn't sing I was sort of confused because they were good but then I remembered that she was in the showbiz also she gas an amazing voice
I was very suprised when Colleen said Anne Hathaway was the best in the movie - She might be great actress, but her singing was only mediocore compared to Fantines on Broadway and West End! Hugh Jackman did a phenomenal job as Valjean, especially in the Soliloquy, as did Aaron as Enjolras and George as R, just to name some of the awesome performers in the movie. Also, for example, Sam Barks has done better as Eponine already, it wasn't her best performance in the movie. True, it was a shame to pick Russel Crowe, Amanda Seyfried or Eddie Redmayne for this musical. They might have nice voices, but not the quality that defines Musical Theatre. So, just to get to my point: To say that no one of the cast could sing was kind of a slap in the face, considering that a great deal of the cast has been involved with broadway and Les Mis before!
To say that no one could sing confused me a bit. Aaron Tveit (Enjolras) is a huge Broadway star who has the voice of an angel! Samantha Barks (Eponine) is a west end star who also has an increduble voice!
Colleen was in live shows and has a much better voice why don't you listen to her sing because when she is not miranda because her voice is better then ariana' s to me so she can say that they couldn't sing
william lopez jr. just because colleen can sing doesn't mean that they can't? I'm pretty sure that if Aaron and Samantha are in professional productions (including samantha being a part of the special anniversary cast of Les Mis that played O2 Arena) its almost a guarantee that they can sing.
I think it's seriously really difficult to take something that has originally been performed on stage and turn it into a movie. We also must keep in mind that the people who really enjoyed it probably haven't seen it performed on stage. I leave mixed feelings about it cause its SO different to see something live turned into a movie. The movie did a lot of things that were not expected and probably cause discomfort to certain Les Mis fans!
I'm a big Anne Hathaway fan and tbh whenever i watch Les Miserables i turn it off after Anne Hathaway dies 😂 there is literally no point after that part.
because she has been in the performance and knows it well, she probably feels it didn't live up to its full potential plus leave her alone, she can have her own opinion
Colleen, would you do a hair tutorial pretty please? I love how you fix your hair. Especially when it's curly. I have curly hair but I'm not the greatest at styling it so I'm always looking for new tips!
Everyone in America has the freedom of speech, which means they can say what they think about something. That is Colleen's opinion, although you may disagree with her. You cannot expect everyone to agree with you, or Colleen, but either way, we should respect each other's opinion (not trying to change someone else's opinion, just because they contradict your opinion). If you like or don't like something, go ahead, but don't expect everyone to agree with you. I know this video was posted about almost 3 years ago, but I just want to put that out there.
OMG PLEASE TELL ME YOU LIKE THE STAGE PERFORMANCE OF LES MISERABLES! I got my dream role! My school is doing it on November 5-8 and I wish you would be there!!!
When I saw Joshua, Rachel and Kory do there like opening I was like ' Whaaaaat the f..... Am I like tapping on different videos? And then u said u tricked me and I was like DAMN IT COLLEEN Lol
I love that everyone makes fun of the people that say "[insert any literature] shouldn't become a movie" but when it happens with broadway shows all the sudden it's a terrible, horrible thing.
Thank you so much for bringing joy and humor to a sometimes hatefull world. I think it's basically the internets anonymity that allows people to get angry with no real responsibility for their statements. You will always shine through the haters. Thank you for the inspiration.
I didn't really enjoy Les Mis either, though I did love its inclusion of Colm Wilkinson, and I thought their Enjolras was brilliant, he would have made a better Marius!!!!!!
No I agree Colleen! Les Miserables was not meant to be adapted like that. In theory, the live singing sounded like a cool idea, but in practice it absolutely ruined One Day More (my favorite group number in the show) and many other moments in the movie. There were some standout performances from Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, and the child actors, but everyone else was a bit forgettable. I loved Hugh Jackman's acting, but yeah his singing did have some "Miranda-isms" with the shaky vibrato, I noticed that in Amanda Seyfried's voice as well. I wonder if they watched "free voice lesson" :P
"and the sound effect they gave when his crushing body hit the flowing waters of hatred DISTURBED MY SOUL DEEPLY!" hahaha I love you Kory. That sound effect grossed me out too lol
I want Kory to know that a man is going to find him. He is seriously one of the funniest, sweetest, and most amazing guys that I have ever seen and someone like him is going to find an equally amazing guy to make him happy because he truly deserves it.
Haha I thought the same thing. So long and so boring!!..but i loved ann hathaway. Did you guys not burst out laughing when the lady was on top of fat Santa and goes "ohhhhhhh santa!" ??
I agree completely with the long-standing philosophy of critic and noted musical theatre expert Peter Filichia, whose view is this: "I'd much rather that you enjoyed yourself than that you agreed with me."
I loved the movie but I can also understand that for people who really know about musical theatre it could be disappointing. The movie is just more accessible for a greater public than the play or the book.
This makes me all the more nervous of seeing it! It's my favourite musical! I'm watching it on the 11th Jan, the first day to watch it in the UK, I saw the actual 25th Anniversary at the O2 and Samantha Barks was amazing as Eponine but I am a bit in doubt as to the others!
Well yeah, the play was sung live too, and not recorded and lip synced. Did you see the play? Cause im not going to lie, i might have liked it if i hadnt fell in love with the play first.
Cory: Stop oh my god you're gonna vlog this, I'm never gonna get a man Colleen: And he stomach was like -peuwurwfartnoise- Cory: NO STOP, EVER SINCE I HAD SURGERY MY STOMACH MAKES NOISES. omfg, i cannot xD omfg
I back you up 100% Colleen. Those who love that movie either know nothing about Les Mis, or are just star struck by the actors. Actors get paid to act not sing, for actors their singing was ok, but they don't compare to a broadway cast. There are few movies that can be as good as the stage production, but this was definitely not one of them. Have a great day.
Colleen, I Completely agree with you on Les Mis. I just saw saw it tonight and was wondering if I was watching the same movie as the rest of the whole who said they bawled their eyes out....
honestly I thought the movie was amazing, and I have seen the broadway musical more than once! All the actors did an amazing job, and tears were brought to my eyes more than once. I don't want to sound rude but if you haven't seen this movie I highly recommend it. In my opinion everyone sang very well, and the whole movie was beautifully shot. PLEASE see this movie if you haven't! The musical and movie are both my favorites.
I was forced to watch les mis in French class I hated it! I ended up banging my head on my desk because it was so bad! And there is only like 3 sentences of words and the rest is singing ughhhhh so bad
That movie was the worst. I felt like I was stupid for not understanding why everyone else loved it, but then I realized that everyone else is stupid. It's honestly the only movie I've ever fallen asleep at
She's not going to go through each character. If almost everyone in the film couldn't sing, she's not going to go through each character and actor and say which ones were good and which ones were bad.
Yes, and I was so surprised by Russel Crow's performance. I thought he would be much more "evil," but he just had a derp face the entire time. Anne Hathaway was the only one who stood out and sung very well. Me too. I expected so much more from this movie. This was the first movie I saw many people leave in the middle of.
DON'T WORRY!! Goodness I hate that movie so much. You are not alone. Everyone gets all angry and defensive when I say I hate it, but hey. It was terrible. So abhorrent.
"No one could sing" ME: *cough* Eddie Redmayne *cough* Samantha Barks *cough* Aaron Tveit.
Anne Hathaway Aaron Tveit and Sam Barks were all great but the rest of the cast was eh...
am I the only one who loved the movie?? Samantha Barks, Aaron Tveit, and Dan Huttlestone was good
Carrie White yeah i loved them ❤️❤️❤️
6 years later I’m still watching
At least Helena Bonham Carter was fun to watch.
i think the movie was good): i cried so much
When she said they couldn't sing I was sort of confused because they were good but then I remembered that she was in the showbiz also she gas an amazing voice
Les Mis is best left to the stage!
Yes but their voices were amazing especially samantha barks
I agree
OH MY GODDD I WAS BORED OUT OF MY MIND IN THAT MOVIE literally i was laughing when he died. i also said "thank god" when it ended i wanted to die.
I was very suprised when Colleen said Anne Hathaway was the best in the movie - She might be great actress, but her singing was only mediocore compared to Fantines on Broadway and West End!

the sound effect they gave him when his crushing body hit the flowing waters of hatred, disturbed my soul deeply! hahahhaa good stuff mate
These vlogs with you kory and Rachel make me nearly wet my pants! Makes my Sunday soooooo much better
Your vlogs are the only ones that I never get tired of, ily
I know way to much singing! I c
Ant understand the movie
Aaron Tveit was great
I love the stage production, and the movie was good (being an adaptation). Of course it had its problems, but it was okay.
I think it's seriously really difficult to take something that has originally been performed on stage and turn it into a movie. We also must keep in mind that the people who really enjoyed it probably haven't seen it performed on stage. I'm a big Anne Hathaway fan and tbh whenever i watch Les Miserables i turn it off after Anne Hathaway dies 😂 there is literally no point after that part.
Whenever Marius sang I was like... "OMG MIRANDA!"
You all are so awesome! I wish I had friends like y'all!!
Oh my... I love Kory so hard. Every time I see him in Colleen's videos I just want to cuddle him.
THANK YOU! Finally someone agrees with me
because she has been in the performance and knows it well, she probably feels it didn't live up to its full potential
plus leave her alone, she can have her own opinion
Colleen, would you do a hair tutorial pretty please? I love how you fix your hair. Especially when it's curly. I have curly hair but I'm not the greatest at styling it so I'm always looking for new tips!
I love Amanda's voice it's so beautiful!

Samantha Barks was the only thing that saved that movie and they barley promoted her... and I'm not just saying that cause she's my friend.
The sound effect when his crushing body hit the flowing waters of hatred
omg i loved it! SAMANTHA BARKS WAS AMAZING! and so was Amanda, i EVERYONE! how could u NOT??!!?!?!?!?!??!!?
3:49 "I'm never gonna get a man! D:" LOL
what kind of video camera do you use?
OMG PLEASE TELL ME YOU LIKE THE STAGE PERFORMANCE OF LES MISERABLES! I got my dream role! My school is doing it on November 5-8 and I wish you would be there!!!
Does anyone ever watch these old vlogs back and think ''damn Colleen lost a lot of weight''?
Did you read the book? There were parts in the movie from the book that were left out of the stage production because it couldn't be done on stage.

YOURE GONNA VLOG THIS?! im never going to find a man hahahaha
I didn't really enjoy Les Mis either, though I did love its inclusion of Colm Wilkinson, and I thought their Enjolras was brilliant, he would have made a better Marius!!!!!!

you have to have a certain appreciation for the arts to really get into and enjoy these types of movies
Was this, by chance, filmed at the Marketplace Center, in Goleta, California (Santa Barbara County), in "Santa Boobies"??
I think it was! I used to live there😺
"and the sound effect they gave when his crushing body hit the flowing waters of hatred DISTURBED MY SOUL DEEPLY!" hahaha I love you Kory. That sound effect grossed me out too lol
I'm 12 and I loved the movie. We had to sing the songs in my choir class. All of them.
Im dying of laughter when u talked about korys stomach!!!!!!

"his stomach just went 'pooor'" OMFGGGGG
I liked Eponines part the most. Makes the movie worth it. I don't like the Marise or however you spell it.
GOODNESS! i was so tricked in the beginning there :)
i love the film so much but ive never seen it on stage so i have nothing to compare it to
I agree completely with the long-standing philosophy of critic and noted musical theatre expert Peter Filichia, whose view is this: "I'd much rather that you enjoyed yourself than that you agreed with me."
I loved the movie but I can also understand that for people who really know about musical theatre it could be disappointing. The movie is just more accessible for a greater public than the play or the book.
LOL, Kory at the beginning in the car xD
This makes me all the more nervous of seeing it! It's my favourite musical! I'm watching it on the 11th Jan, the first day to watch it in the UK, I saw the actual 25th Anniversary at the O2 and Samantha Barks was amazing as Eponine but I am a bit in doubt as to the others!
I'm glad to hear a review of the movie before considering seeing it. Thanks lovely people :)
Well yeah, the play was sung live too, and not recorded and lip synced. Did you see the play? Cause im not going to lie, i might have liked it if i hadnt fell in love with the play first.
Guess what??? You did do vlogmas this year!!!!
Good to know you loved Anne Hathaway's performance in the movie because I love love LOVE her! Lol

Colleen: And he stomach was like -peuwurwfartnoise-
Cory: NO STOP, EVER SINCE I HAD SURGERY MY STOMACH MAKES NOISES.

Agree. I haven't seen the movie because I just don't want anything to ruin the stage performance for me. I love Les Mis!
I LOVE YOU
Aaron Tveit was honestly my favorite part of the movie. But I agree with you!
i dont know what im gunna do starting janurary ?!
Colleen, I Completely agree with you on Les Mis. I just saw saw it tonight and was wondering if I was watching the same movie as the rest of the whole who said they bawled their eyes out....
Omg! I totally agree with kory! The sound effect when Javert jumped in the water was so disturbing! Freaked me out too
honestly I thought the movie was amazing, and I have seen the broadway musical more than once! All the actors did an amazing job, and tears were brought to my eyes more than once. I don't want to sound rude but if you haven't seen this movie I highly recommend it. In my opinion everyone sang very well, and the whole movie was beautifully shot. LES MIS IS LIFE IM SORRY HATERZ BACK OFF
Nooo please vlog every day in December this year! = )

Why did u watch it
I was forced to watch les mis in French class I hated it! I ended up banging my head on my desk because it was so bad! And there is only like 3 sentences of words and the rest is singing ughhhhh so bad
What surgery did kory get
Couldn't stop laughing at the stomach story mid film! Very cute
It was too long? Have you SEEN the book? What did you expect?
That movie was the worst. I felt like I was stupid for not understanding why everyone else loved it, but then I realized that everyone else is stupid. It's honestly the only movie I've ever fallen asleep at
OMG! I know! I hated it too. I love Eddie Redmayne though.
I am reading les miserables for my honors English class and ugh! Don't think I can last another minute x.x
She's not going to go through each character. If almost everyone in the film couldn't sing, she's not going to go through each character and actor and say which ones were good and which ones were bad.

i LIVE for the old school Colleen vlogs where she does voices and characters with her friends
I hated it too! Possibly the most boring movie I've ever seen.
DON'T WORRY!! Goodness I hate that movie so much. You are not alone. Everyone gets all angry and defensive when I say I hate it, but hey. It was terrible. So abhorrent.
