Bought one brand new 3 weeks ago and I’ve already done 2500 km’s in it, fabulous little car, handles amazingly driving down the coast and smashing through gears with the DCT, awesome review, this video is what pushed me to say “screw it” and buy one
great review we bought one today and your review matches the car what a surprise it is awesome
Great looking car! Can’t wait to see your review on the i30 N 😁
I totally agree! Stay subscribed and you'll see when it's here 🙂
So which is the better-looking Hatch?! VOTE in the COMMENTS on this post!
VOTE: 2021 i30 N Line
VOTE: 2021 i30 Sedan
They're so different! It's hard to choose, but the I30 sedan is sooo distinctive, it gets my vote!
Thanks for the review. Its a great review. Waiting for my N line premium manual to arrive early January. Just convinced me I have made the right choice. Very happy to not get the exterior up date yet here in Australia.
Absolutely made the right choice, it's a great performing and driving car 🚗
Great review mate! I currently drive a Hyundai getz and I'm looking forward to be driving one of these in the future. So cool just by watching your vid.
Loved my 2005 Getz. It was an absolute gem of a car. I haved talked at least a dozen or more family and friends into newer Hyundai and Kia vehicles. I unfortunately swapped mine for a mazda and it's a pile of shit and the aftersales support is diabolical!
Love the Getzies!!!
overall a suuuper great car for the money! you can get an updated N-line, 1.5 T-GDI 160 HP engine, all the goodies, and the super nice red color for 20.000 euro here in Romania
Should be getting my 2022 N-Line Premium DCT in about a week or two after my 2022 Elite was written off by another driver. Was happy enough with the 2.0lt 6sp in the Elite, but all dealers can find at the moment around here is the N-Line so I'm happy if I have to go with that.
Hi Matt
Nice video looks like I have made my decision!! Thanks again
Thank you! I reckon you'll love it 🙂
Just wanted to clarify, yes this is the facelifted i30 N Line. In Australia, we don't get the new i30 exterior yet (coming: TBA) but we DO get the facelifted interior with the digital instrument cluster and new infotainment display ✌
That's the N Line premium?
Yes
@@CarSauce I just put deposit down on the N Line. Wondering if I regret not going for the Premium... 😂 But I don't need sunroof/electric and warming seats. Seems a lot extra basically for the bigger infotainment
@@Richard-ck5zk go the premium! I use my heated and warmed seats most days.
@@IrishGremlin03 where do you live? I've never needed to use heated seats as it doesn't get cold enough.
Great review mate, I just ordered one, cant wait! Never in my dreams thought of buying a Hyundai 10 years back, but both Kia and Hyundai looking so much forward with their products each year!
How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking. Thanks
@@Robert_N Hey mate, I was negotiating on a demo for about $35500, but since they dont make any commissions on demo, they offered me $36200 for a brand new so thats like a 4k discount from list price of 40.8k. I would hit a dealer around the end of the month and pretty sure you can get a hefty discount esp around this time.
@@sadmanbec2 Thanks a lot Sadman.
@@sadmanbec2 You wrote "they offered me $36200 for a brand new" Is that for the N line or N line premium? Auto or manual? Thanks again.
@@Robert_N That is for N Line Premium Auto mate
Finally someone reviewed the 2021 version! I just got one 😍😍
Haha nice! Great choice!
I’m looking at picking one up.. should I wait, will they get even cheaper?
Same just got a new Hyundai i30 after my Elantra died after a solid 20years of use
how you finding it? i got the fastback one 3 days ago, due to corona i couldnt go test drive, company car, really disappointed with it
Is it fast?
Fabulous cars and very refined! Great exhaust sound too. But apart from the sunroof, the Cerato GT is similarly equipped, feels hotter and costs $34000. I love both and as always love watching your reviews, thanks Matt!
Cheers Claudia 😁
The Hyundai is way more comfy than the GT but I agree with your comment
@@IrishGremlin03 agree Jess, the Cerato is firmer and I chose it sorta in spite of that, but found the handling sooo good I didn't mind hahaha!
The only thing the kia has better is a nicer looking dash and blind spot alerts in the side mirrors. Seats are inferior
It's harsher tho
As long as they keep making good cars on budget....
The sale will be great....value for money
Great value!
Watching this review while I wait for mine to arrive...
I test drive one last weekend, put my deposit down, picking it up in a few days...
Dealer Demo with just over 50km. In Blood Orange. Its the N-Line Premium, i haggled them down to 31500 with floor matts, window windshields, boot liner, boot net and free window tints :) Im so excited
Abs, howd you get it to 31500 thats awesome. Im trying 38.
hows the car been? just ordered one!
Nice review but just one thing the steering is hard when you are in sport mode it is light in other normal modes
Any news on the exterior facelift coming to Aus?
We are in March of 2024 now!
Hey legend, have you heard anything about Aus getting the facelift any time soon? We've waited for so long and I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out 😂
Thanks for a great video
Thanks for the review, Matt. Always informative and entertaining. One question though. Is the dual clutch dry or wet? I remembered in your Kamiq video, you mentioned about a potential issue with dry clutch. Will the i30 N line be one?
Did you find answer for this? Im still trying to figure which one it is.
Hey Matt,
You think you'll be doing a review of the face-lifted 2022 Kia Cerato GT?
I'm in the market for a new daily, and it's between one of these N-line hatches and the Cerato GT.
Keep up the good work mate
My partner has a 22 Cerato GT , it’s a little rocket and very comfortable on long trips.
Question, I know p platers can’t drive n but can red p platers drive nline ?
Ok i am considering Ford Focus 2020 St Line or Seat Leon Xperience or I30 N line. Suggestions?
Mate, I’ve got a ND MX5 but need a couple of extra seats. I know you’ve driven both. Would this be a (reasonably priced) happy place or will I regret selling the mx5? Noting I called Hyundai this week who told me 6-12 mths wait… !
Do you like the i30 N line better than the Cerato GT ?
I'm in the US. I converted the storage space numbers you quoted in liters to cubic feet and discovered that Hyundai lied about the numbers in the US market. They claimed 25 seats up and 55 seats down, where the video's numbers are 14 seats up and 46 seats down, making it comparable to the Toyota Corolla and actually less than the Honda Civic hatch for seats down. It didn't make sense to me that a shorter vehicle could have more storage space, even with a more squared hatch.
Any news on the exterior facelift coming to Aus?
Good review however I think the Recaro seats in my Focus LZ ST shit over those Hyundai seats anyday. Other than that I would consider one of these in a heartbeat
Great review, very comprehensive. Two questions: you said that CarPlay and android auto are not wireless? I thought that was one of the selling features of this, it certainly was for me, is this coming in an update?? Do you know when the exterior facelift is coming? Looking to buy in the next 1-2m but if the facelift is expected next year I may hold out
Thank you! It's not here yet, but coming 'soon' so there is no actual guarantee when it will come. The system is wireless capable already, they just need to enable it I suppose! Same with the exterior, there is no update. Don't expect that though until at least Q2 of 2021 I think ☹️
That’s, just test drove the N line premium. Was really surprised to find out blind spot monitoring and RCTA are missing in a top of the range! Also as you said, couldn’t get wireless CarPlay going, the dealer was a bit confused because they reckon it’s on their new facelifted models?
@@rayjay1234 thank you for answering this .
🔥🔥 review as always.
The I30 N line hatchback is a much better looking vehicle than the sedan
Thank you! I can't make my mind up myself haha!
Yeah nah it's not lol it's boring as shit, drives worse too
BOUGHT ONE BEFORE CHRISTMAS ITS A ROCKET OF A HATCH BEST PRICE HATCH OF ANY BRAND JUST DRIVE ONE DO THE SUMS GREAT REVIEW CHANGE .MY MIND WAS GOING FOR SUV SO GLAD I STAYED WITH THE HATCH LIVE IS TASMANIA IT JUST LOVES THE HILLS AND MOUNTAINS .MUCH BETTER SHAPE AND DESIGN THAN THE KIA CERATO. MY LAST HATCH WAS KIA RIO GDI 1.6 WITH GAMMA ENGINE WITH OUT TURBO THAT WAS A NIPPY HATCH....
Bought it last week! drove around and love it! but the only thing is the rev number is small, prefer larger size so I know how much it rev in the right speed. Great review!
Ultimate bang for bucks semi hot hatch 95% performance of vw golf GTI and 15k less also be a lot more reliable long term also if something did go wrong Hyundai has outstanding back up service / warranty unlike vs that use to treat the customers likens inconvenience on warranty claim but been told they have improved after being bent over and given a fostering
The value proposition of this is great, really a jack of all trades!
I've just bought one! This car is insanely quick not bad at all to drive.
Great driving car! Congratulations 👏
sameeee the n line premium but wow I love it! looks great, responsive and quick (at least for me) hahaha
Do you prefer the sedan?
The 2020 USA version of the GT N-line has better looks than the new design for the 2021 across the pond. The interior screen stuff they are doing with new Hyundais do not look good to me. Also, rather have dual exhaust with one on each side than two pipes together on one side, which I am now seeing more on cars.
Merry Christmas...
Shame there's no full size spare. Great review
Always is! Thanks mate 🙂
Be honest does the N line still pop and bang like the N Performance. 175 BHP on the N line then 275 BHP on the N Performance. Does it sound the same
Nope not at all. But I have seen some with a muffler delete and it becomes similar 🙂
so curious to know matt,... what is the difference between the i30 N Line and the i30 N Line Premium ? apart from the sunroof
Think of the i30 N Line (non premium) as the base model i30 but with the better engine and a slightly nicer interior (leather seats). The premium adds the 10.25" display, better sound system, automated and heated/cooled seats, keyless entry and go (underrated feature, this is awesome), and maybe a couple of extra bits and bobs!
@@CarSauce awesome thanks for that :) i quite like the look of the N Line series but wasnt sure what the difference was with the models as the only difference i could see was the sunroof and the screen display lol but ill have to go down to my local dealer and look at them in person
@@CarSauce I brought the 2019 n-line base model for $31,250 in February last year. I honestly could not justify paying $4,000 more for a sunroof, bigger touch screen and better stereo system. But obviously the choice is upto the individual
Man Hyundai has really been impressing me lately!
Me too!
When you said you put on the pedal and you feel disconnected, did you mean the big lag in the gearbox in the 1st gear before it engages into 2nd?
Not even, it's throttle lag for whatever reason!
@@CarSauce What I'm experiencing is when accelerating from stop, the gearbox occasionally doesn't shift from 1st to 2nd staright away. There's one full second lull in neutral before it decides to shift up to second.
@@gefreiterkurzmaul that's a very common issue with the 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission from a standstill. Unfortunately, that characteristic will always be there!
The rear air vents won't do much on hot summer(?) days if the vent is closed 😂 don't think I didn't notice that
More power to the front where I'm sitting! 😁
@@CarSauce True, you only sit in the back to move your legs, laugh and give a thumbs up anyway 😂
@@matbarber ... You know too much 😬
Def a hot hatch.... just picked my partners one up this morning.... it’s a great little unit... very impressed with Hyundai...
I got the 2018 SR Premium (I think its basically the same as the non facelift n line) and I wouldnt say its a hot hatch. I used to own a Mazda 3 mps before this car and that was a hot hatch. Also, a Golf R would be classed a s a hot hatch, a Focus ST and probably the i30 N. Maybe im just not used to Autos, but doesnt feel to hot to me :(
This is the best N line review I’ve seen so far. Great work. I’m considering buying one. Still tossing up if the premium is worth the extra money and if I really need the features on the premium.
Are you getting the manual ?
It might not be important, but next year when it face lifts again, it 100% willl be important
Any date on the n line sedan?
Not that I'm aware! Hopefully someone else can answer too 🙂
34k AUD. Budget friendly?
For todays car prices, yes it is.
I am not a fan of the new look of hyundai i30 especially the sedan, but my friend loves it lol, it's matter of subjective preference....to me it look like spiderman, probably because the front grill/vents looks like a spider web lol
Looks are very subjective! Add in that polarising design, and you either love it or hate it 😁
@@CarSauce great review man but I still don’t know how to pronounce Hyundai I noticed you said. He youn day and then you also said high youn day ... lol 😂
Its pronounced "hee-yun deh," (keep the "hyun" part short) "현대" means "modern."
I30 hatch looks alot better, most hyundais have magoo looking designs but they really nailed this one.
00:35 - When I tell you I COULDN'T STOP LAUGHING! Great review as always, but I agree, the N is just special :D
🤬🤬
can't believe that neither N line has rear cross traffic alert or front parking sensors. Very disappointing for a $37K car...
Should check out the Kia Cerato GT (basically the Kia version but no update as of yet) 😃
Oh don't worry, I absolutely will!
@@CarSauce grandfather has one and it’s amazing how much it has on it for 32k or so, small touches like illuminated door handles for at night, JBL sound system, cooled seats 👌🏽
After watching the new N-line come out in Europe with an nice updated exterior, it was very weird to see The Australian version with the old look. Definitely turned me off and i was interested.
Yeah hopefully the exterior is updated soon, it's a shame for sure
Be careful when you buy one of these, especially the DCT transmission. My n-line is a 2019 and has an issue with the DCT clutch engagement. I get a slight judder from a standstill until the clutch fully engages. Its always done this from about 1000Klms. Hyundai has acknowledged it's doing this but claim it's normal. It also has an issue when you need to accelerate onto a highway. The power delivery is not smooth and tends to surge until about 4K rpm and then suddenly takes off. I have taken it back to Hyundai to have it checked and because there are not warning lights they they wont touch it. I drove 2 other n-lines and they both didn't have these issues. It will be the first and last car I buy from Hyundai. Best to stick with Toyota, Mazda, Honda. Hyundai still cannot make good cars yet. Too much variability in the production.
Sorry to hear your issues Shane! I will say though, the issues you are having are very common in the (now old) DCT for Hyundai. You'll also experience shuddering reversing uphill, etc. Actually, this is common across all DCTs but especially noticeable in the Hyundai one. Can confirm their new DCTs (8 speed wet dual clutch) are much better for this, but only just starting to come out now.
@@CarSauce Yeah, Hyundai's refinement is a long way off yet. Does your n-line have a power surging issue when under 3/4 go pedal and in higher gears and under 4000rpm?
So this was a review unit and it's been a while. But yes I do remember there being somewhat of a disconnect between the pedal and the engine response, nothing out of the ordinary though for a dual clutch! I recommend taking a VW Polo or something similar for a test drive, it might alleviate some concerns as they come with a very similar 7 speed dry DCT 🙂
@@CarSauceIts more of a surging than a disconnect. It feels as if the boost is coming and going until I get to 4000rpm and then I get full power. I avoid VW like the plague. I replaced my GTI MK6 with this n-line. GTI had so many major issues I had to get rid of it.
@@shanemitchell5807 yeah surging is common in DCTs, but not sure about your issue! Sorry again to hear you are having issues 😔
It's crazy how top of the line Mazda 3 & Civic will not come with ventilated seats.
Yes, an i30 offers ventilated seats for your ass
Mk8 golf rival
The i30 sedan is simply put, “UGLY” How could anyone look at that car and say, ummmm I have to have one of those? As opposed to the i30 N Line, it’s a design winner from all angles. The best warm hatch around $40k. I would personally buy the N Line Premium.
Good bang for buck car
It certainly is! Seriously does it all
1:50 stalker.. 🤣
My 2015 A250 Sport has red seatbelts and red stitching, hmmmmm. 🤔😂😂😂
Are you sure it's not just a i30 N Line in disguise 😜
@@CarSauce 😂😂 Im going to check whats under the Star now! 😳😂😂
why does he keep laughing after every word, is there some in joke that I'm missing?!
Just a happy guy idk 😔
@@CarSauce oh ok, seems excessive, maybe I'm miserable 😁.
Do u remember if the passenger seat was height adjustable??
@@Senninha1960 will take that on board! And sorry no I don't know, but I would doubt it 🙂
The weak point of this car will be the DCT. Guaranteed they won’t last.
Any reason why you say that?
Peugeot make the nicest wheels sorry not sorry
I wouldn't touch a Peugeot (or any French car) with a 10 foot pole.
@@Robert_N you probably drive a 1995 Holden commodore too
@@bk1974 Even if I did, I'd still prefer it to any French junk boxes.
Body is a bit dull I think.
Wait until the new generation and it looks like the i30 Sedan, then you might wish they kept it as is 😁
Did you get payed for this review? lol😅
Would be nice if I did
@@CarSauce I thought you were over exaggerating at first about the performance. But then at the end I saw that the one you were driving has around 200hp. The one here in The Netherlands only has 160hp. 1.5
@@NotA1DeathLeaver yes that would feel very different indeed! It’s a lot of fun once the car is warmed up and the transmission is in sport here anyway 😊
