  • We are back out on an off road adventure in our Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon. This time we visit the Lake District and explore some of the green lanes in the area.
    July is our birthday month. Due to the current world situation we weren’t able to go on our European overlanding trip as planned. Instead we took off to the Lake District with some of our friends. We spent a few days green laning and exploring this beautiful part of England.
    We chose Grizedale campsite as our base. It’s right in between Coniston water and Lake Windermere. Grizedale forest is a very picturesque place too.
    Chris, in the white JL is our guide for part of the trip. He took care of the routes we were going to take. He always does his research into the legal byways and ucrs using the Trailwise2 map by Glass (Green Lane Association).
    Day 1 was mostly spent on traveling, setting up camp, cooking some nice food and relaxing around campfire. You can see every vehicle in our little convoy had a different set up for camping. Simon and Claire with their overland trailer, Alex in the grey JL went for an ARB awning room set up. Us and Jack with different types of rooftop tents, Denis and Katy in the new Suzuki Jimny (JB74) had a ground tent pitched up under the awning to protect them from the rain and Chris slept in the back of his Wrangler.
    Day 2 was the start of the off-roading adventures. We were going to explore green lanes in Grizedale and surrounding areas. The weather might have not been the greatest but the views certainly made up for all of the rain.
    We hope you enjoyed part 1 of our Lake District trip. Come back for the next episode in which were lucky enough to be joined by Dan who lives in the Lake District and knows the area very well. He has a RUclips channel - The Northern Explorer. We also take on Parkamoor - one of the best lanes in the Lake District with stunning views over Coniston water.

    It was beautifully filmed! Lake District is one of Chris' favorite place in the world, I can't wait to get there one day :)

      First time for us hitting the lanes up there. We were very surprised at how good they were, and the scenery, wow! 😀

    Love the bridge part, so funny how small we are in the Jimny compared to you all 😆

      Yeah the weather was a bit dodgy - not what we expected in mid July either.

    Looks like a great trip... but sooooooo much tire spin and lack of traction from over-inflated tires for those rocks... I learned in the very early days that airing down makes sooooooo much difference. I always carry a compressor to get the tires back up to road pressures at the end of the day, but let them down when on the rocks. Hope to join you all in the near future. Cheers!

    Nice VId, good production. Some rock crawling action in the UK is good to see, and in the wet to make it even more challenging, nice! Are you guys in GLASS, if so, what routes did you take? Do you use Trail Wise 2 app to find them?

    • @ModifiedJeepsUK
      @ModifiedJeepsUK  3 года назад

      Thanks. Still learning about editing and shooting etc but having great fun doing so. Great to find a few rocks in the UK. I don't think it would have posed much of a challenge if it was really dry. As for the route, we left that up to Chris, as usual haha. But yes, we always check our routes on GLASS' TW2 maps. Seems the best way.

    Gday from Aus. Enjoyed the content. Question. What preassures you guys running. None of the tyres looked to have much deflection so thinking fairly high.

      Hi Gary. Hello back from cold UK. We usually just go down to 18psi. There's not much need for lower pressures as there's no major rock crawling or sandy tracks like you guys have. I think around 12psi would be the lowest I'd go with none-beadlock wheels if needed. What pressures do you run?

    • @garymolony8880
      @garymolony8880 3 года назад +1

      @@ModifiedJeepsUK My go to pressure is 14 in the JK but on coast tracks and beaches can be as low as 8psi. WA sand can be super soft. Perthfourbeefour Adventures if ya want to have a look. Small channel like yourself.ruclips.net/video/f1cRs1GHxYU/видео.html
