Thanks for another great video. I know the Phi is not a replacement for something like the Sky track, but what are your thoughts on it just as something to keep the swing ticking over during the wet and cold Irish winters? Sold my R10 as don’t have a dedicated indoor space to use it
You need to do this again with the swing club trainer set to off (bottom right hand side on Phigolf). it will pick up the actually club better. Would love to see a Skytrack+ and PhiGolf2 side by side without swing trainer club on. Cheers!
The principle of PhiGolf is it always assume you hit right in the middle of the sweet spot. No gear effect consideration at all. Different to the system that simulate base on ball flight.
My wife got me the PhiGolf2 for Christmas and while I know it has it's limits (no accounting for thinning of fatting your shots) for the $ 210 she paid for it on a Black Friday sale I thinks it's pretty awesome. Love that I will be able to get some decent stats as I continue to be able to swing my clubs this winter while we are stuck indoors. Very pleased with the product so far..
If you hit the blue pin icon in the top right, it will automatically go from the post swing stat screen back to the Phigolf range after about 5 seconds. Love your videos. And thanks so much for all the detail on Phigolf. Would love to see more on slice and hook detection as thats what us high handicappers really want a golf sim to give us feedback on. You're the best!
Thanks mate, that will help. I’ll definitely do that as well. Going to drill some holes in my clubs so I can use the sensors and get same shot data with GC3 or GC Hawk
Thx a lot for this very interesting comparison. The data about distances seem OK but one question : from what you've seen, are the data about club face, path and more generally the flying path accurate? (Or enough accurate to be reliable to work on this base?) Thx a lot for your answer
Thanks for doing that! Your frustration was palpable but still some very encouraging results in several respects. The MLM2 Pro numbers were a bit bizarre when you get 171 mph bs, 16.7 launch and only 254m carry. That seems pretty unlikely to me and when I plug those numbers into trackman optimizer software it comes up with about a 277m carry. Some interference between the 2 somehow perhaps? I'm wondering also if the quality of the swing and strike is a big factor. I saw a fellow reviewing Phigolf 1 and comparing it with Skytrak 1. He had a fairly poor swing and his contact seemed sketchy fairly often and he was getting some really big discrepancies (up to 80-90 yds.) especially with his driver. Others that I saw reviewing either one or the other Phigolf version and having better overall technique seemed to be getting results relatively in touch with (in a comparison with a high level LM) or even very close to what they would have expected during normal play. Since I don't have several grand to blow at the moment and have space limitations, this unit has me hopeful that I might be able to have a convenient reasonably realistic means of keeping my game up over our long cold canadian winter. The jury is still out but I'm pretty close to a verdict. Cheers.
I think the mlm2pro for driver really needs further distance in front of the unit for ball speeds like mine. It’s just not enough space for it to pick up and give accurate readings
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Oh, I see. Well thanks for that clarfication. Just to be clear, if it wasn't obvious, I wasn't referring to your strikes or technique at all (it suddenly struck me that it might have sounded that way) when I brought those elements up vis-a-vis the Phigolf unit. I was more generally talking about the quality of assessment relative to those attributes in any particular reviewer that might happen to do a review. Cheers.
I have Skytrak+, too, & the main differences are club face alignment, resultant changes in direction/spin based on unfavorable alignment, & everything that flows from that.
You’re supposed to tell the app whether you’re swinging the Phigolf practice stick or real clubs, FYI. If you’re swinging real clubs, Phigolf say that you shouldn’t actually hit a ball, because the vibrations can confuse the sensor. In my experience, it doesn’t seem to matter whether I’m hitting a ball or not. The only thing it doesn’t give you is the club face alignment, which of course affects spin & everything which follows from that. I prefer using the Phigolf 2 with the E6 range instead of their native software. Phigolf’s own software does include a coaching mode, FWIW.
Yes you’re correct, I forgot to adjust it but I don’t think it made a major difference in this test. Definitely would recommend doing that though for better accuracy
I’ll have my Deadeye sticks for the Quest 3 soon, & am looking forward to trying it with Golf+. Would love to see you review that setup, as an experienced golfer.
@@RolandDobbinsthanks, I’d love to review those. Also you’re 100% correct with your points above. 👆 either way the PhiGolf2 performed really well and the total distance was spot on. There’s a driver swing towards the end of the video in GC3 that’s identical numbers to the PhiGolf2
Do you find ball direction is accurate for ball flight. The idea I can use in the house with the stick to keep swinging during dark nights but can then use with my real clubs into my garden net that I use foam balls. As a 24handicap my distance can vary but working on hitting straight would be a huge benefit to work onat home. Using real balls in the garden net isn't an option so having this could be a real solution to practice at home
Hey David, great job on the video! Is the Phigolf 2 the best one to get? What’s the pros and cons between Phi 2 and the world tour model? Super interested in getting the best one!
Please do this again with skytrack or r10 or even both mate. Really wouldn't mind buying one for the loungeroom for the kids if the numbers are reasonably accurate 😉
Great work, will be good to see the more detail review once you can use it with more of your clubs. Is it worth the £300. Another test question what is it like on half or quarter shot dection?
I think you need to drill a hole in the grip through the tape so you can get the sensor as close as possible to the grip. Otherwise I don’t think the sensor will give you the best possible data.
It's probably the grip tape wrapped around the end of the shaft to prevent rain water in the bottom of the bag getting into the shaft and possibly causing rust.
That’s a very good question, I think what that would do is just bring the rough and bunkers into play more. So instead of just a normal chip out of the bunker you might actually be penalised for power etc
They do but only in the sense of the speed of the greens and which tees you play. Naturally, your scores will be affected just as if you were playing a regular golf course. The pay tournaments put on Phigolf (by Phigolf) tend to be from the back. Most recreational tournaments are played from the red tees but still are difficult in their own right. Putting is always a challenge as well, anywhere. Playing fast greens is certainly, by far, the most difficult. Like anything, playing out of bunkers and from the rough just takes practice as does the chipping. Sorry as I am a bit obsessed with the game. Take care.
I agree and would LOVE to see another comparison. I’m a newbee to golf and I’m working on my club path and closing the club head - and so if the Phigolf is close enough to sky track and good for a newbee to make some subtle adjustments then I think it’s going to be a huge win! … that being said, would you recommend the Phigolf for technical improvements in the swing?
Cool video Dave! Still an interesting product, but i do see it as more of a 'Wii' style fun game for the family etc.. as the R10 or ML2 are as you say, better products for accuracy 👍
Thanks All for watching! What are your thoughts?

This would be a perfect replacement if you need something with limited indoor space. And they're now 30% off with black Friday Sales @@richardh9836

Brought one.... Looks very hand indoors when its raining. Plus i dont have an indoor range lol. subbed, nice honest videos.

Do you still habe the r10? Maybe retry this comparison if you do. Wouldn't mind the skytrack comparison either.
Yes still have the r10 😁👍🏼

I haven’t no, but I think this works a bit different 😁

@@popsquad15 - yes, absolutely. Your use-case is solid. I’d recommend getting the E6 license for it at $80USD/year.
I seem to be 10-20 yards short with the phi golf all the way through the bag. I wonder what lofts they are using for the various clubs?
My clubs are traditional lofts and it’s spot on so that could be why
@@davidmaxfieldgolf yea I run Cleveland turbo launchers which are a bit loft jacked compared to traditional.
Please change the club setting to "Real Club" in Phigolf and lets know if the carty is different. Thank you
Did that in the latest video vs GC3 😁
Hey David, great job on the video! Is the Phigolf 2 the best one to get? What’s the pros and cons between Phi 2 and the world tour model? Super interested in getting the best one!

Really wouldn't mind buying one for the loungeroom for the kids if the numbers are reasonably accurate 😉
I will probably do it against GC3
without being able to plug the sensor into a golf club, you couldn't really do a head to head comp. Maybe you have another set of clubs to try?
I did that in another video after 👌🏼

it has a stopper so you can see where it needs to go to but my clubs have something in the end so you can't screw anything in

i think your screen is too close to your tee for the mlm to pick up a high speed driver. it needs about 10ft
My screen is 10feet away and this is exactly what happens with my higher clubs like 7 and up
Yeah I do believe it may be too close. I’ve never had an issue with the mlm2pro with driver outside
I agree and would LOVE to see another comparison. I’m a newbee to golf and I’m working on my club path and closing the club head - and so if the Phigolf is close enough to sky track and good for a newbee to make some subtle adjustments then I think it’s going to be a huge win!

Agreed 👍🏼 nice to know it’s accurate but I wouldn’t use it as a tool to map your club distances or anything like that
That’s how my rapsodo is with my driver pretty much exactly how mine has been acting.
Yeah hasn’t always been that way. Think it may have been too close to the screen
Idk my setup is 10 feet from the screen
@@thedayhayfilms strange, should be fine
On Phi Golf 2 you must turn off the Swing Training Club and switch to real club, when you’re using real clubs.
Yes correct, forgot to do that
